May or August

Which would be the best time to go - last week in May or last week in August - re crowds? Also, which week for 2006 would we have best chance of getting WLV - booking now for May or end January for August? I would prefer SSR but promised kids WLV for next trip. The only problem i see with May is having an august use year - incase we needed to cancel. Would we be better just going for August because of this?

I would say the last week of August. If you were going earlier in May it might be a toss up but last week in May you have southern states already out of school and memorial day. The last week of August most southern states are back to school and many northerners getting ready to return to school.

Keep in mind that in August at WDW, the temperature can sometimes seem like 1,000 degrees. (I should talk! We're going there in July.)

I've done the third week of August and it's relatively slow. Jersey week in Nov. is more crowded! (We just did Jersey week.) However, it did rain a lot in our August trip, and it's obviously quite hot.

Today I booked VWL for 3rd week in August, we're traveling with DGrands and the family, yeah! We went to BWV this year around the same time, and there were rain showers, but we did all the rides and things we had wanted to do. We had a great day at TL. You wondered about availability. We're still around 8 months out, and I booked a 2 bedroom and a studio. I'm guessing you'll get August if you want it.

I've been both times, and August is definitely better crowd-wise. It's super hot, though. But since I was interested in avoiding big crowds, too, I just booked again for this coming August.
