Well at least we can say with threw the dice... :confused3

We booked a CAT 10 GTY and got room 2545 CAT 10, at least we can say we tried to play the GTY game...

Congrats to all of those who were upgraded and my fingers are crossed for rest of you...

For what it's worth, some people on the earlier cruises that weren't upgraded initially, were upgraded later. Who knows what logic DCL room assigners use...it's definitely not readily apparent. :confused3

Yeah this cruise totally threw my theory of solo cruisers never getting a window, out the...window!

Woohoo! Booked cat 12, got a cat 9; we'll have one of the big portholes, I think. I'm so excited, and congrats to all of you on the awesome upgrades!

We got upgraded to one of the cat 9 rooms (2062) on our Mexican Riviera cruise in 2008 and loved it. Congrats!

You're assuming there *is* logic!!! :lmao:

Hi. I booked a cat 12 gty. and still have not had my cabin no posted :sad1:.
I hate this waiting.
WELL DONE to all of you who have got fantastic upgrades and pixiedust to those who are still waiting pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

It appears that the Palo brunch reservations that were made available before embarkation were all taken ages ago. (They were gone when I tried to book at the 75 day point). At this point, unless you happen to catch it when someone cancels, you'll have to wait until you board and see if you can book Palo brunch at that time. A certain percentage of reservations are held for onboard booking.

Sayhello

I went online and brunch is available only for reservations for 2 people

Yeah, well it's the engineer in me. I think we've discounted the theory that they go alphabetically...I'm an "S" and there are others with last names before me that still don't have assignments. Perhaps they use the old dartboard method.

Last cruise someone told me it was by order of booking date or paid in full date. I do not know if that is true.

Bobi & I are the parents of the Clemons bunch.....i.e. grandparents to Jacob & Zack Clemons.

Excited to be part of the cruise!

My surname is Blackman so I dont think its the last name.
I think I booked Dec 1st How about you ?

Well the accountant in me thinks that reservations generating the most revenue per person should get the best rooms. So it makes sense that singles that pay a premium should be rewarded. Also I am guessing the UK/Europe passengers had to pay slightly more than our $999 fares. Did UK have to pay 699 british pounds? If so that would be around $1050 and would explain their good fortune. Assuming revenue being equal I would think the older reservations would be dealt with first. So my question is did anyone paying $999 or less and booking in February or March get upgraded to category 8 or higher. If so it is back to dartboard/pixie dust theories. The intriguing wild card is linking to an older reservation. Would love to know what influence that had on the pixie dust fairy. Bottom line this is giving me a :headache:

December 12th for us. I also wonder what, if any, effect number of prior DCL cruises has on upgrades?

Also, on the revenue theory, Picket Fence booked a Cat 10 GTY and therefore paid more than those of us booking a Cat 12 GTY, yet they got a Cat 10 room. I think that shoots that logic down. Still searching for logic...

We booked around December 18. We haven't cruised DCL before, but have a number of cruises on other cruise lines. I think it's the number of spa appointments I made. :rotfl2:

Our last name starts with W, and we booked sometime in February. Our room number was assigned around 2:30 this afternoon.

The computer nerd in me is trying to come up with a good algorithm. I'm thinking they start with a pool of available rooms and randomly pick people from the GTY groups to fill in, keeping in mind the minimum room category for the people in the pool.

Well, we booked this cruise February 8th, but it's linked to our old reservation of August 13th - which is what is noted on the DCL site and the date we booked our original cruise on the Wonder. So... I'm guessing the linking to an older reservation doesn't help since we still don't have ours! :confused3
