I'm sold on May!!! This is my 3rd or 4th trip in May and one of our best ever! The weather was PERFECT! The crowds were VERY VERY light. The sun didnt burn. The wind was cool, and it was PERFECT short sleeved weather. A few nights it was even too chilly to swim. Can it get better?
I wore my green DIS ears logo. Where were all of you???? I only met one DISer in 8 days!!!

I'm so jealous! We've been twice in May and I would give anything to go back each year at that time! Unfortunately being a teacher (I got away with taking a week off last year cuz we had a family reunion down there!) and my kids getting older means no more May :guilty: . I think our first trip being in May is what helped push forward my WDW addiction!!! You are so lucky!!

Thank you... thank you... thank you! I am leaving in 8 days and this is such good news to hear! DBF and I will have our LGMH on so any DISers that will be in the World from May 21-May 27 keep your eyes peeled!

What's a green DIS ears logo?

Theres some threads here devoted to just that. People are taking the green Disney paint samples you get at Home depot, and putting JUST the mickey shaped part in their lanyard pouches so you know they are fellow DIS members. if your here, your a DISr.

thanks for the tip........we leave saturday 19th (myself, dh, dd, ds,dd )and I will head to home depot today for a few green paint ears!
hope to see ya real soon!

That is so cool! I love hearing how people enjoyed their trip & I very much love being there w/ lots of people just having a good time & enjoying themselves.

Princess Minnie it sounds like we will be there at the same time. We arrive on 5/21 and leave on 5/25. I won't have the lime green mickey ears as I live in a little town without a Home Depot but I will have a lime green Baggalini! If I see a Home Depot on the way to the airport I may have to stop and grab me a paint chip!( or 2 or 3)

We were there May 6-11 and while I agree with you about the weather, we found MK to be very crowded, no matter what time of day. PotC was a 25 minute stand-by and the line for IASW was way out onto the main walkway...we were never able to ride that. We got to MK for EMH morning and found 20 minute stand-by for PP by 8:30. Splash had a 40 minute stand-by by Noon. Strangely, Buzz and HM were walk-ons no matter what time of day.

I kept detailed notes for my trip report, to be written later.

Cannot WAIT to be there - 3 more days!! - and hoping for a great experience re: crowds and weather too! :cool1: :cool1:

Its possible you just chose the wrong park for the wrong day. I avoid all extra magic hours, and use my own little system of choosing which park for which day. I did see MK VERY busy one night we were there, but we were only in MK for 2 hours that night... (long story). The other parks we were at (we did 3 parks that day... YES! It can be done) were pretty dead, because they were all at MK!!!:thumbsup2

My sister confirmed everything you just said. She and her family just returned on Monday and she said the crowds were light and the weather was perfect, threats of rain but never really did. For those of you worried about the smoke chances are that your trip won't be ruined, she said she never really smelled any smoke the entire week she was there. Just depends where the wind decides to blow the smoke that day.

My family and I leave on Saturday and we're driving from Maryland, so I'll report on the smoke conditions while we'er down there.

BTW, we've been sold on May for years now.

We're going the 24th-27th. Hope the weather is perfect then too. If you see a mom racing to the front of the line in the morning at MGM's Rock N Roller Coaster, that will be me :lmao:
It's my favorite ride. After gonig it 10 or 15 times, I'll let everyone else go in front of me, before that, step away from the 40 year old fat woman!:rotfl2:

Yeah!!! That means that you only have 5 days left too... we are so excited! We will be staying at the WL and will have our LGMHPC on our bags in the parks. Have a fun trip!

Do you mind if I ask whether you used any kind of touring plans while you were there (if so, which one)? Not questioning your touring approach, just curious, thanks.

We use the approach that has always worked for us before on 8 previous trips - we do MK on EMH mornings - we never, ever saw lines before 10:00 on an EMH morning. This trip, we also tried the day-after-EMH approach and got there right at the 9:00 opening time and found the lines were already building. There were hordes of school groups ranging from elementary to high school and naturally each group took up a good bit of whatever line they were in. Plus, and this is a generalization, some of the chaperones had a hard time controlling their groups and that impacted the lines too.

We do not use TourGuide Mike or other formal touring plans, except perhaps a modified version of "Dumbo or Die" from the Unofficial Guide to WDW.

We don't usually go in May but this year we took a short trip for the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. That was blissfully uncrowded, at least from 11 when the WS opened until about 3 p.m. We even had excellent seats for the 5:30 "Nelson" show.

Well, I'm glad to hear that you had some time in the MK without the monstrous lines on the EMH morning. Also glad to hear that you were able to enjoy Epcot for most of the day. Those school trips must throw a wrench in the day even if you are following a touring plan, so I'll keep my eyes peeled... I'm sure the groups aren't that hard to miss! :rotfl:
