May have found Transformers Possible Opening Date

So the other day I'm at Universal and I get a 1 Day 2 Park Pass. I realize afterwards that I can upgrade it, and the cheapest way to upgrade it and use it again in May when I visit was to get the Annual Power Pass. This is the pass that has certain blockout dates on it.

Now, every single block out date is the same for both IOA and US, with one exception. From Jul 1-31, only US is blocked out. In my opinion, this means that they are planning on opening Transformer somewhere near the July 4th holiday, and they don't want the cheap annual pass holders to gain access over paying customers.

Just a guess, and a disappointing one at that since it looks like those of us hopeful for May or June may be out of luck. :confused3

Those blackout days have been known for a while, it's a safe bet Transformeers will be open in July, but late April, or more likely mid May is when you may start seeing some test openings. (You can't plan for these, they just happen)

They will never give a solid opening date because so many things could delay it on something this complex.

I was just about to say the same thing cause those blackout days were put into place a long time before the announcement of transformers and has nothing to do with the ride opening and if not mistaking those blackout dates are due to busy times at the parks

Coincidentally, the universal orlando website was Transformers themed today. All it says is "Opening Summer 2013" though.

That's not really true. Previous years only Islands of Adventure (because of WWOHP) had blackout summer dates and Universal Studios was not blacked out. This year, it is Universal Studios that is blacked out in summer and not Islands of Adventure. While the first date of Transformers could be before July 1, that is likely close to the planned Grand Opening. The blackout dates were set late last year so Universal had a good guess on construction progress.

They are probably trying real hard for a Memorial Day opening. But the back up will be July 4th week sometime. They did this last year for DM. We will be there for 9 days as usual July 4th week.

TV advertising includes the Transformers too. That time period looks like a good one.

I think the Grand Opening will probably be early July, but soft openings will be much earlier. From what I have read, it is almost ready but they are waiting for the ride vehicles. The manufacturer was having some issue with them. So although they have been testing with a few ride vehicles, they don't have all of them to do complete cycling.

Can you tell me where you read this? My bf is REALLY hoping for a soft opening during our May trip (6-7 at US/IOA). I know it a slim chance, but I've been trying to keep up with the progress for him :) Thanks!

It would be great if the soft opening hits when we are there on June 1st! We had to reschedule our vacation due to a family illness, otherwise we would have been there tomorrow. That would be a nice consolation to the delay :goodvibes

I'm afraid early May is going to be way too early to hope for soft openings. If anything, maybe by Memorial Day weekend but I seriously doubt they will be testing that soon when you're visiting. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you though.

We'll be there May 12th-14th and are also hoping for soft openings (or maybe Annual Pass previews). Maybe we'll both get lucky.

The year Harry Potter opened everything was advertising a spring opening. I know the official dates for spring, but when I think about spring, I think March-May, so I scheduled an early May trip, so of course just missed the June opening. Hoping I might be able to catch a soft opening for the Transformers this year though.

As long as we're posting our date wish list, I'm rooting for May 21-27 for a soft opening.

To be honest, I think USF is shooting for Memorial Day (at least soft openings), as they are already running ride vehicles through and testing the pre-show video. I'd be surprised if it doesn't open by the end of June.

Just booked our tickets for our first visit to US & IOA. Plan on being there June 22 and 23rd. Really hoping Transformers will be up and running by then. My sons are HUGE transformers fans so it would really make the trip super special.:cool1:

I'd guess Late May/Early June for soft openings with a Late June grand opening.
