We're thinking of taking a total spur of the moment, really short trip May 16-19th 2008. Just a three nighter but I have two concerns: Crowds and heat

What can I expect for the crowds? We've never been there in May, but have been in Sept, Nov, Dec, and Jan. In Jan, we were there at Martin Luther King day and it was SOO crowded, there was a 45 min wait for Its a Small World. Will it be less busy in May?

Also, how about the weather? We almost died from the heat in Sept '07. Will May be the same?

Thanks!

I think it just depends on the day.

We went May 13-18, 2005. Most days were 86-89 degrees...of those, some days were beautiful and not too humid, others were so humid we were pretty uncomfortable. I remember being in Epcot one of those days, and waiting inl ine at the little stand outside of Italy...it was so hot, they couldn't keep the Italian Ice (I forget if that's the name) cold enough...it was like juice. For what it's worth, we're going in May again this year!

As for crowds, they were light and we didn't wait for much at all.

Have fun!

We were there last year about a week before Memorial Day weekend and the weather was perfect. Sunny and warm, but not hot or humid. There was one day at AK when it was uncomfortable, otherwise it really was perfect. There were the "love bugs" which were new to us since we don't have them here in Calif. but they werent terrible. The crowds weren't terrible. We used fast pass a lot.

the weather this week has been pretty toasty mid 80s already not rained this week but last week we had a monsoon. i am 2hrs south of DW as far as the crouds do NOT go near a holiday i will be going to epcot/Dw around the same time as you will be :) i am only taking one child our youngest who is 5 with her strollie ( yes she named her stroller ) and the stroller cover in case it rains. I usualy check the weather forcast a few days before we leave so i know what i will need. its pretty humid right now also. i bought Emma a small fan at Walmart today for under $4.00 they also had the ones that sprayed water but didnt get that kind. i am also trying something new. bringing a dish towel that way if she gets wet in the sprinklers i can dry her off and not have to carry a huge towel. also if we get hot we can wet it down and cool off with it.i always ALWAYS get a water bottle from Walmart in the sporting goods section its about $5.00 and has a insert in it that you freeze plus it has a wrap around thingy with a strap to carry it or toss over the stroller .And I also get a small bottle of sunscreen that has a clip on it and attach that to my bag or stroller. the zip code for Kissimmee is 34741 and here is the link for weatherbug..http://weather.weatherbug.com/FL/Kissimmee-weather.html?zcode=z6169
hope this helps if you need more info let me know.. wonder if we will see each other there ??? :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies. It sounds like heat/crowds won't be too bad. Last Sept was terrible. We actually would say to each other, "Ok. Let's walk really fast to that shade tree 100 yards up there, and then we'll take a break". It was terrible.

Thanks again!

We were there last May and yes it was hot, but not unbearable by any means. And I was 6 months pregnant! The biggest problem was the love bugs. They are small, black bugs that fly around attached to another one. They were absolutely everywhere. It was hard to sit outside and enjoy yourself. They are harmless but very very annoying! By the way we were there the 3rd week of May.

Keep in mind that late April and May is high school graduation time for most of Florida and Disney hosts grad nights which means they reserve Magic Kingdom for all night graduation parties = early park closing. As we were leaving MK I was amazed at the hundreds of tour buses that were backed up for miles, full of high school kids heading for MK.

We didn't know this in advance and couldn't figure out why MK was closing at 7:00pm. We hopped to Epcot as it had EMH that night but it was crowded beyond belief because everyone else went there as well.

Weather was nice tho.

We've gone in mid May for the past few years. It is pretty warm, but crowds are not terrible. Most days are in the upper 80's to low 90's. I think it only ever rained in May on one day that we were ever there. As long as you get to the parks early and ride the more popular rides first thing, you should be fine. We went in April this year instead and it was significantly more crowded than May. I won't go back in April, but will happily go back in May.
