MAY Countdown!! This is it, folks

Did you noticed GrandBob thread? "Official" date is June 15th, with probable soft openings during the beggining of the month.
So, it's official. No Carsland for us May goers!!!
What do you think? :thumbsup2 or :scared:??
For me is . Yep, you read well. :woohoo: no crowds!!!
:beach:

I guess I sort of have mixed feelings. I am THRILLED about the low crowds, but I was kind of hoping that the land might be open, but maybe no rides yet to be able to just get to see it, ya know? Still, we hate crowds, so I guess it really is much better than the opening is later...AND since we won't get to see anything of BVS or CL, it will require a return trip soon...oh darn. LOL

I am not too worried about Carsland, I am happy to wait for another trip and by then the furore will have died down. But I had hoped to see some of the construction walls come down in Buena Vista street by May. Oh well, any day at Disneyland is a good day - construction and all!

Hmmm.....mixed feelings. Low crowds will be great but I know my son would have loved to see it. Oh well, we will be back in a few years Im sure :)

That actually works for me. Before we went to Disneyland in October, DH said that this would be our last trip as the flight is just too long from the UK. Then along came the Hawaii cruise and he really wanted to do this. As we are in Los Angeles anyway, it would have been criminal not to stop at Disneyland for a few days. Now he is suddenly talking about going back once California Adventure is completed. I know he is mainly interested in Carsland. So if this was open in May, he might well change his mind about a future trip.

This thread needed a bump! :goodvibes
Who's doing the double-digit dance?? :yay:

You know, I thought Goofy's was going to be open but I just found out that it won't! :sad1: oh I so wanted to ride Goofy's!

What will you miss most? Funny, my kids are happy that Matterhorn is closed, they were not so thrilled to ride it :scared1:

I am dancing too :banana::banana: and not so patiently waiting for the 6 week mark so I can start serious tour planning.
I had not heard about Goofy's closure either. Are the dates noted somewhere?

Just booked the HOJO for 10 nights....going to be there may 12-22nd...so excited, but a little sad, this will be the first trip that all 3 of my kids won't be there...only my youngest 2 are coming...My oldest dd is a huge Disney lover, she turns 21 2 days before we leave, and just finished her lpn course, so she isn't sure where she will be working and feels she should stay home....:sad2:....it will 3 years in may since our last visit...Should add, I am getting our flights for 4 and 10 nights at the HOJO for under 1400 American, and with our canadian dollar so high, this is truly awesome!

I am a drop out for May. I just rented points for VGC in Sept. I know Haunted Mansion will be closed, but the crowds will be lower and no Grad Nights.

I am still looking forward to reading about the trip reports from those of you going in May :)

I read that in in one of skiinfast posts, so I went to the Disneyland site. Under that attraction it says "Get ready for take-off when this new attraction opens this summer at Disney California Adventure Park!". So yes, no Goofy for us May goers... :sad2:
I too am impatient about having the calendar ready!!

Hi !:wave2: I added your dates on Post 1. Welcome!! :goodvibes
Hope you have fun even though your kids will not be there. :grouphug:

Do I count?! May 30-June 6 Disneyland Hotel!
Welcome!! Of course it counts!!! :thumbsup2. Added your dates as well.

For me it is starting to feel a lot more real now. I paid off the Disney Cruise to Hawaii that we are going on before coming to Disneyland yesterday. The next milestone is being able to make my reservations for meals. I want breakfast at Storytellers Cafe, Steakhouse 55 and Goofy's Kitchen and dinner at Steakhouse 55.

Weeee excited for you!! A cruise to Hawaii, and Disneyland?! Sounds like a dream!! We just got our tickets for Disneyland emailed to us the day before yesterday! So we are all set too! Waiting (not so) patiently to make character dining reservations too!! Can't wait!

I don't have to worry about tickets this time round. We were at Disneyland in September/ October for a total of 9 days and I got an annual pass then so this will still be valid.

I am a tad bit jealous there! I could never convince my husband to go more than once a year, even if I managed to fund all of the trips myself (ebay seller!). He's just not crazy about the magic like I am! Sigh. Oh well, what can ya do? Hope that he will want to at least go again in a year...although he did tell me not to expect that we are going every year now (since we will have gone two years in a row now)...boo. What will I do without at least ONE trip to my happy place year year?! Live vicariously through all of you, I suppose!! BRING ON THE FOOD PORN!! :lmao:

My DH does not really get Disney either, but he does love Disneyland for all the history connected with the place. The good thing is he also loves cruising and DCL has won his heart. So the conversation goes something like this: He: " When can be cruise again?"; Me: "I spotted a great cruise out of ..."; He: Sounds good, let's do it."; Me: "It would be a shame to come all this way and not spend a few days at Disneyland/ Walt Disney World."; He: "OK then." We come from the UK so it has be worth our while to get on a plane for between and 9 and 12 hours.

Just booked HoJo for May 27-June 1. I splurged and got the theme park view. It's in bldg one which seemed like the only negative was perhaps a bit noisy and no microwave. For a view of the magic, I decided to risk the noise. And I don't care about the microwave. From Ohio our family's first trip to DL.

Excited! A million things to figure out between now & then!

:worship: AMAZING! You. are . brilliant!

We are going May 11-17 staying at the carousel inn! :cool1: Its me and my boyfriends first trip away and I convinced him he would love Disney! To be honest he didn't take much persuading, so its my grand master plan to make him love it as much as I do so we can keep coming back! :lmao: First time in May for me, looking forward to low crowds *fingers crossed*!
