We are going to WDW in Sept 2007 too! My sig says August but we were denied to leave here a month early. I haven't made my reservations yet but we are wanting to stay at POP and arrive on the 15th and leave on the 21st. We are also planning on going to Universal and IOA.

My parents just became DVC members and are letting us use points next year, so we'll probably stay at Boardwalk, Beach Club or Saratoga Springs.

The one thing I would say about PA is pay attention to the services provided by your municipality because they are VERY different. Local taxes can be wildly different and so can local services such as schools, public libraries, police, fire, etc. Very little seems to be done on a county or regional level, so where the township line is drawn could have a big impact on the services your family recieves. We moved here from the Boston area and were very surprised by how underfunded and dependent on volunteers some "essential" government services are.
That being said, it is beautiful and there are some wonderful communities here. There are lots of things for families with kids to do.

HI,
I live in State College and love it. We live about 15 minutes from Dowtown and find the area is great for raising a family. I have a DD-6 and a DS-4. With the university nearby, there are a ton of events and things to do as a family. THe town is very family friendly as well and the school district is great. State College has the highest property taxes in Centre County though.

My husband also works at Raytheon. He has been there for about 15 years!!

Good luck and if you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me!!

Well my Dh got the job!! :cool1:
But WDW may have to be put off for an additional 3 months :guilty:
We are hoping to be there by next Sept.
I have contacted a few realtors. MY DH was able to look into the hospitals and the schools while he was there.
I am hoping to find a house in Maybe Millmont or Mifflinburg. This will be our first house though so it is a little stressful.

Thanks to eveyone for the information. We are looking forward to being PA residents!!!

Sharon--maybe we should start a Disney loving wives of Raytheon club. You may have heard of me. I imagine a little situation I did a few years ago HAD to be talked about. I was playing on the softball team, my first time at bat, first game, running to first and I sprained my ankle--bad. What a dork I am.

No not yet. My Dh has to finish his tour here. We are moving to PA this summer.
We have still been house hunting though and researching schools.
Can' t wait to get there  !!

Congrats on moving to Central PA! We are currently living in Lewistown but are building in Bellefonte. Mifflinburg is a nice area, but may be a bit of a commute for your DH. Property taxes are wildly different depending on where you live. Have you looked at a map of State College and the surrounfing area? Lewistown is nice and isn't too bad of a commute (about 40 minutes) with a major road (322) to travel all the way. Huntington is great. It's much more rural, but only a 30 minute drive. We love Bellefonte/Pleasant Gap area. Old small town feel but only 15-20 minute drive to State College. And Bellefonte has a very good school district. There's Bald Eagle which is a very rural area with about a 30 minute drive to State College. There's tons of new construction everywhere. What I might suggest is renting til you find out which area of town you'd like to be closest to. We found after living in the area for awhile, that we seem drawn to a certain section of the area for most of our events/activities.

BTW: Former Raytheon wife here. Now SRI wife.

My DH will be working in Laurelton. So Mifflinburg is pretty close. I guess State COllege might be a bit of a drive but Lewisburg is pretty close too.
We are so excited. THe kids talk about it all the time. I just winter would be over so we can get moving! :moped:

No way! That's three of us with Raytheon ties...we need to have a meet! :cool1: We refer to SRI as the "grass is greener" place. The benefits sound too good to be true!

Actually I live in Reedsville...I think your the 4th DISer I met from the greater Lewistown area.

I'd have to agree with that! The benefits are great. DH sets his hours and for the past year, even set his job location. He decided he wanted to live in Denver for awhile, so they said sure, we'll arrange that. We couldn't be happier.
