My husband is waiting to hear about a job in Orlando so I've been looking at apartments and neighborhoods. I put a link to Google maps as to where the office is.
Since I know there are quite a few here that live in the general area, what are some good areas? Altamonte Springs? Casselberry? Should I look up near Lake Mary? Not sure how far that would be of a drive though.

I'm really enjoying the Lake Nona area. Up and coming-ish.I can be at the beach in 35 minutes or disney in 25-30.

are there some areas to definetly avoid? how's the new hospital coming near Lake Nona? Can you tell we are itching to come down too? Friends of ours just moved to Clermont- they LOVE it- the high school is awesome- the son has lots of activities- he's got special needs too- looks like a lot of opportunity.

When I clicked on your googlemaps link, it gave me the entire US. If you tell what area the office is located in, I'll be happy to help.

Yes there are definitely areas to avoid. Orange blossom trail is scary at night, I would never live over there.

Lake Nona is going to have a huge medical campus, and more new stores and restaurants are starting open. I think its going to be a nice area to live especially after the medial campus opens.... we are tossing around buying actually.

Oops. It's off S Lake Destiny Rd, which is off of Kennedy near I-4 and N. Wymore.

Are there decent apartment complexes? Is it a very busy area?

There are some very nice apts very near by. There is also some average apts all up and down Wymore Rd. It is very congested in the area between 8 and 9 am and 5 to 6 pm.

Just moved from that area. You don't want to be there. We watched it go down hill for the last several years. Avoid Wymore Grove and Springs Colony apartments. There is a "condo" project across Wymore that used to be apartments. They can't give the units away.

Thanks. I was thinking a little bit out. Would Lake Mary be too far? What about Clermont, Winter Garden or Apopka. Too much of a hassle of a commute?

There are some good apartments in Casselberry. I live in a good apartment community. They are older apartments from the 70s or 80s but they are nice, nothing fancy though. PM if you want more details.

Lake Mary is ok. I would not want to drive to Downtown from Lake Mary everyday. I-4 can be a parking lot. Apopka is farther down 436 than Altamonte so it would also be quite a drive.

Where in Orlando did he interview? Orlando is a big area.

Lake Mary would not be bad. Cassleberry would be right up 436-not too bad. Apopka is up 436 (opposite direction from Casselberry). Clermont would be a HIKE!

If the office is actually an Orlando address it is right on the border. I think those offices are considered Maitland.

Are those nice areas? I was looking at Cagens Crossing in Clermont that looked pretty cool, that's why I was asking about that.

Personally, if I had to move back-I would pick Lake Mary out of those choices. Second would be certain areas of Casselberry. (I would avoid the Ronald Reagan area).

wow Cagan's crossing is far from that area. I live in apartments that are close to longwood and I like where I live.

Not sure your giving good info. Yes the apts in that area are rough. There are some luxury apts nearby though. In the area you mention you have Spring Lake Hills, Spring Valley and another gated community between the two, can't remember the name. You also have Maitland Club on Wymore and at Wymore and Sandspur you have Colony Park and Maitland Grove all the way down Sandspur. There are numerous professional athletes that live in this area, they wouldn't if is were all that bad.

And I think you are missing what I said. You will notice I mention two apartment complexes in the area the op was asking about. Why? Because I have a good bit of knowledge on the subject. Firebombing, drug deals, murder. Police setting up roadblocks and stings. We can also talk about roaches and all night loud pool parties.

I said NOTHING about any of the luxury complexes.

Oh look random search on Google:
