No, there are no pull off spots. It is a freeway basically...... people do it, and I am surprised no one has been killed. We always get a picture of it, but have our camera ready ahead of time to get the shot as we approach!
There are signs posted and say No stopping. Also says there are cameras that will see you. Just have your camera ready, slow down and take your pic. You could also go to the entrance at hotel blvd and 535 and take picture with you in it. Just don't try and park on hotel blvd. Go into one of the resort lots.
about the hotel blvd entrance is it the same sign? tia! We are planning a surprise scavenger hunt roadtrip and this was part of my last clue! Thought it would be spoiled but maybe there is still hope for my plan!

I just want to make sure this will be right for the end of our roadtrip scavenger hunt! I already had it all planned out and then found out you can't stop at the archway! so now having to revamp the last clue!

That's exactly what my family and I did a few years ago. The only difference is we parked at the McDonald's in the Crossroads Plaza across the street and walked over to the welcome sign.
I think this will do! oh mcd's would be perfect no that I think about it! we can just go and nonchalantly have a meal there and let them open their dis boxes and they will say are we REALLY going to disney world and then all we have to do is point out the sign then walk over and take our pics! thanks so much guys!
On the World Drive and Epcot Center Drive entrances they actually have metal poles blocking off the right hand shoulders to prevent people from stopping to take pictures; it's considered a major traffic hazzard.
During our trip in December our Magical Express bus driver actually commented on how many people slow way down or stop to get a picture, and on how dangerous it is!
I really try to be careful there since a guy in front of me once just SLAMMED on his breaks. Luckily I was far enough back to adjust, but if I had not noticed I would have rear ended him HARD! It scared me to death.. you don't just go from 50 to zero for no reason with no warning in traffic IMHO!
