May at FW Cabins ******THE TIME IS HERE ******

I think a peanut allergy would be VERY hard. Just think of all the things that are cooked in peanut oil. I was watching "Dirty Jobs" and Mike was at a potato chip factory, and they were cooking their chips in peanut oil. I've heard that the chefs at Disney are very good with food allergies. I'm sure that they could help you out!

I'm so glad my kids don't have food allergies. Is it hard to eat out with peanut allergy? I imagine it can be a big challenge. I don't blame Dallas for staying away from any and all nuts. I don't know what kind of reaction he has to peanuts but I've only had one allergic reaction in my life (to penicillin) and I wear gloves to give it to the girls when their pediatrician prescribes it. Once was enough for me :)

It should be really easy to make and get a cake nut-free. I'm sure they can do it with graham cracker crumbs. I would think the crums would be readily available with all of the cheesecakes they prepare.

We found out his allergy by a fluke. I always kept a dish of chocolates on my coffee table. Things like Reeses Peanut butter cups, Hershey's minitures, and Kisses etc. I found that my kids ate LESS when the candy was out in the open :confused3. I stopped putting it out when Dallas started pulling up because I took my coffee table out. Well, when Dallas was about 13-14 months old I started putting it back out. He wanted a piece so I gave him a Reeses..............BIG mistake. He started looking flushed in the face and having trouble breathing. I grabbed the candy from him and gave him benedryl. He got better. I called my pediatrician in a panic and she said if he was breathing easier then the benedryl was all he needed. Now, I will tell you no matter how much nursing school nor medical training I had, I was a mama at that moment......lol. Since Dallas has been old enough to talk he will ask if any candy or cookies or cakes have peanuts in them.

Dallas won't even touch any peanuts nor peanut butter jars. I don't blame him and you are smart to wear gloves when touching PCN, it is a drug that can cause very severe allergic reactions. The thing is each reaction is worse than the last so anaphylactic shock is a real threat with PCN and peanuts.

I know it is strange but he doesn't seem to have a reaction to peanut oil. :confused3. Only peanut butter. We found this out by a fluke too. We have never tried the acutal nut. I would never try it and Dallas SURE wouldn't. I don't know if it was something in the peanut butter process or the nut itself. We just avoid it all together. So my poor baby has never had a PB and J. A couple of people have told me he is allergic to peanuts because while I breastfed I ate peanut butter sandwiches. And Amanda only took PB sandwiches to school and I made her sandwiches every morning. I guess he could have gotten sensitized by it passing through breast milk but who knows.

And the thing is, many children outgrow other food allergies such as milk or eggs, MOST kids don't outgrow peanut allergies. That is just sad to me. I love peanut butter cookies, and when I make some you can see that he would love to just try it. I always make him chocolate chip or snickerdoodles.

Sorry about rambling on. I guess the nurse in my came out and I have to give an inservice on peanut allergies..............:lmao:

Well, we are back to eating at the Sci-Fi for the birthday. I have an ADR for May 18th at 1:40. I called the cake hotline and spoke with the nicest lady. She tried to push the podium cake but I was firm and told her I had something special in mind. I told her we needed a chocolate cake with raspberry filling and chocolate buttercream icing with the white chocolate Mickey as the cake topper. She said the topper was now like $35-$40 dollars and the cake itself is $45 and will serve 16 :scared1:. Oh well we will be eating alot of cake for breakfast. She is going to talk to the chef and see what he thinks it will cost and if he can do the cake I want. She is going to give me a call back today or Monday. I did let her know about Dallas' peanut allergy and she said she would make sure the chef knew not to use any peanuts or peanut butter.

Then she asked where in Alabama I live and when I told her she said she was originally from Biloxi, MS, which is very close to me. She then said she had family living in Fairhope, AL which is close to me too.....lol. We talked about that for a while and then she said she would do what ever she needed to try and get me the cake I wanted....:woohoo:

Woohoo for helpful CM's!!! And I don't mind the nurse in you coming out. That's what I want to be when I "grow" up! (even though I'm already grown) ;)

At least you'll have a fridge in the cabin to store all that cake at!! There's a lady on the cake thread that just mentioned a monorail cake....my DS would FLIP!!! I'm sooooo torn about these darn cakes it's not even funny!!

LOL. We could sure use the help.

I love helpful CM's they are the best :woohoo:.

I just saw that. I think that would be fantastic. I hope she posts pictures and if it is really good I may change my cake order.........lol. I know how you feel. I have went through so many pictures, and ideas I am crazy. I have looked at the restaurant menus over, and over and over. I just don't want a repeat of the horrible cake we had last year.

I've never done a cake there...we always eat cs, since we usually just go over for a day. So all these TS places are making my head spin!! LOL I too have been going over menus, making sure ALL the choices have stuff for ALL of us going....for both trips...it's crazy keeping both of them separate in my mind. When I talk about the may trip to my mom, I gotta be careful and not slip up about September...UG!!! I'm ready to GO!!! I'm staying at the cabin in September, so you'll have to tell me all about it!!!

I haven't decided if I want to do anything for DH this year. Last year I ordered Joe a cake from a local non Disney place and had it delivered to the resort. It was a double layer 8 inch cake - very tasty, fresh, cute and super cheap - $15. I wanted to surprise him but not have to pack it all over a park with us. They gave him a custom dessert at Le Cellier so he didn't miss being treated special at the restaurant. They brought him a bowl made of chocolate, it had a brownie, ice cream, whipped cream and sprinkles on top. They wrote Happy Birthday Joe around the plate in chocolate. It was neat. I probably need to do something so that he's not disappointed...:lmao:

We usually eat only one TS then last year we did the DDP, didn't care for it. Too much food too much time away from the parks. Our last night we were at the food court finishing up our credits and buying junk food in the gift shop for the ride home. Picking a place were they have something on the menu we will all eat is almost impossible. If there is a hamburger I am set with Dale, but Dallas and Amanda are almost impossible. Tyler and I will try anything. I am sooooooooo ready to go too, I can't stand it. I will post about the Cabins. Everytime I call Disney to make an ADR or change something, they rave about the Cabins so we will see.

Last year we celebrated Amanda and Tyler's birthday and they got several goodies at different places. Tyler stopped wearing his birthday pin because he said it was embarassing..........lol. I was trying to look at cakes on Goodings site but it has been down everytime I try to look. By all means do something. You know he will be looking for it............lol I think it is so much fun.

The toting is a big reason why I wanted to do the cake at Kona for both of them, that way we're going back to the room to rest up for the park ANYWAYS, so we can keep it there. I keep going back and forth about the cake...I know....disney ocd....part of me just wants to do the podium cake and be done wth it, but the other part wants to do something REALLY special. This is the last trip with DH for a looooong time, since the CG is moving him to Miami!! He'll be at a deployable Law Enforcement Unit, so God only knows how often he'll be home :scared: SO....I do want to make this very special. DH likes the Monorails too, he's always sprouting off the spanish part...thinks it's funny, so that would be a good one to do, Tyler will LOVE it, and Chris will think it's neat too. Get separate candles for each of them, and let them have at it!!
But, all this free time, I'm just sitting here, going over my plans, second guessing. Not too much now, had a few jello shots with the neighbors, not feeling too much!! :rolleyes1 :lmao: Anyways, rambling again!! Have a good night...and a good weekend if I don't get on here too much!!!

Wooooohoooooooo girl jello shots.........:woohoo:. I say just go for it. It is only money.....:rolleyes1. Or better yet, we could meet up and exchange cakes. HEY that would work. My cake will serve 16 and there are 6 of us............:lmao:. On the serious side, I am taking the chance again and gambling it will work out. We will go back to the cabin after lunch with the remaining cake. That is why I got the ressie at 1:40. I have told my Tyler he needs to think about joining the CG. We live across the street from the Aviation Training Center here in Mobile. It was cool after Katrina because the President landed there. People ask me all the time if the noise bothers me? What noise?

I know I need to do something or he'll be pouting the whole trip :lmao: I'm kind of being tightwad. Thinking of maybe another cake from the outside. It was really good. I have pics of the girls eating cake for breakfast...only on vacation can we do yummy fun things like that :goodvibes

Oh yeah definately. If he pouts like Dale, you will NEVER hear the end of it. Nothing wrong with being a tightwad. I have just saved up to buy the cake for Dallas. I have saved $100 by not buying cokes out of the coke machine at work and taking my lunch. I am worried about how much weight I will gain back while we are on vacation. I think with all the walking I will be ok. I don't want to become obsessive with it.

I monitor my weight constantly (I'm not thin just don't want to be bigger) and honestly when I'm at WDW there is no such thing as calories. Last year we did DDP and had desserts with every meal, had cake for breakfast etc. With all of the walking, swimming, etc and eating wide open I actually lost .5 lbs :confused3

Joe and Dale have a lot in common I suspect..:lmao:

That's neat Racefan. The deployable LE team he's going to is at the air station in Miami. He thinks it'll be neat! I'm secretly scared to death!!
But, this is our life, and it's been a VERY good life, DH loves it, and DS is VERY proud to be a coastie's son. If your son wants to think about joining, tell him to go for it. It's a very rewarding life if you make it so!

I actually make my own Jello shots, my neighbors LOVE them, so every once in a while, I break down and make some LOL

I would love to read your trip report but your pictures are so large that I have to scroll back and forth. Do you think that you could make your pictures smaller?

Knowing you LOST weight last year makes me feel better :thumbsup2. I have never weighed before a trip and then again after, but that is my plan for this year.

MEN :rolleyes1

I think Tyler would enjoy the travel. It is really cool to watch them land the helicopter in the playground across the street.

OK give up the recipe for your jello shots. What kind do you make?

Well I have actually lost weight on every vacation I have taken. I find I eat less and get tons of walking and swimming in...Just relax. Stress makes you retain weight and thats not good! I watched Dr. Oz last night and I am going to try the more natural approach to eating for 2 weeks and see how I feel. I bought tons of fruits and veggies today.

I make many kinds, i found some little 2 oz dip cups on Amazon.com with lids, and I make the jello like normal, just sub 1/2 of the cold water for booze. I find with the flavored rums, the alcoholie taste isn't there. I also use a turkey baster to put it in the cups, makes less mess. For example, my favorite recipe is the pineapple jello with the malibu coconut rum...or the tropical flavor jello with the passion fruit parrot bay. I get creative with the flavors of rum, and jello, to make each one unique. HTH!!!

I hope I lose some more on this vacation. I only have 19lbs to go so if I could lose while on vacation I would really be happy. I love veggies. I love to roast veggies and just eat that for dinner. They are sooooooooo delicious.
I have also become addicted to celery. I can eat a whole bunch a day.......lol. I am not as crazy about most fruit. I buy the 100 calorie Skinny Cow ice creams to have as a sweet snack.

YUMMY, I love coconut rum, a jiggley pina colada......lol. I haven't tried the passion fruit parrot bay but I will have to buy some and make some jello shots. I am a margarita girl so I will have to buy some lime jello and just use the triple sec so it won't be so strong. My husband works for a wholesale company and he said they carry the little cups. I am going to have to make a run come Monday.
