May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

Ack! I'm losing my mind! Didn't someone post a link to some Palo brunch pictures before??? I can't find it! I wanted to send it to my mom to show her. Could you post it again? Thanks! :worship:

Hope everyone had a great Monday!

I survived Las Vegas!

My girlfriends and I had an amazing time, saw a ton and ate way too much. It gave me confidence that I will be just fine with some port excursions even while pregnant.

So I returned to so many pages to catch up on here and I missed you all! Somehow, it's April all of a sudden and we only have five weeks until our cruise. I still have tons to do for FEs and magnets and packing and and and *pant*. I have no doubt I will get it all done but all of a sudden the cruise that was so far away is nearly upon us!

Jen - There are several trip reports with Palo brunch, but this is a good one! http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=39410290&postcount=223

I have a question for everyone. Since we're flying we have the dreaded weight limit on suit cases, and as of right now I have dresses and shoes and skirts and shorts and, and, and. How in the world am I going to pack all of this, plus pack the family? It's nut! I need help please.

Just remember this - there is laundry facilities avail & nobody will remember your shoes, so long as they somewhat match! :thumbsup2 Oh, and, if you pack your things in ziplocs, you can squeeze the air out & make more room.

LMK if there is anything specific that you want me to look for.

Will you pls find out what's the nightly entertainment schedule? Thx!

Do they have Splenda packets around or do I need to bring my own??

Yup!

For those worried about coffee, there is 24 hr room service! :yay:

Ok, so... I've been sitting down the past couple of days (Don't ask me how with 3 kids) and have read from cover to cover the PassPorter cruise book and it is THE best book ever for first time DCL travelers!!!!!!!!!!

I have found sooooo much info out just from this book and it has everything about the ship from bow to stern!!

I highly recommend it!
I'm going to have to check that out. I dont want to miss anything!

I love this Port Canaveral webcam. I am sitting here watching the Monarch of the Seas going out to sea. I feel like I should be waving at the people :rotfl:

I can't wait to hear about Cable Beach. So far, that is the way I am leaning :thumbsup2
My friend comes home tomorrow. I'll post her review as soon as I hear from her. I do you watch the webcam? How can I find it?
I just turned on the webcam too.... ugh... I wish that was us :(

I'm SOOOOOOO ready to get out of here.
MEEEE TOO!!!!

One of my favorite post I've read was a family that delivered all their FE gifts at 1am then went back to their room and ordered chocolate chip cookies and milk from room service. FUN!:woohoo:

LOL I promise my shoes will match... somewhat. Ziploc's could work double duty (Haha she said duty, sorry kids favorite joke:rotfl:) and be used for wet bathing suits for our beach day in Nassau.

Now if only my cruise papers would come in, they will be going to a TA first though.
When do you get your official cruise paperwork? I finished my check-in almost 2 weeks ago.

Isn't it amazing how stressful shoes are when you are flying!?!?! :headache:

I havent gotten anything either. As for shoes.. I usually pick clothes that go with similar shoes. Like I wont bring a pair of shoes that go with 1 outfit.

I love this!

Thanks for the link to the webcam. I have it saved now

I'm going to work on my magnets today... I hope. The hardest part is figuring out which characters to pick!!!!!!!

I just found out the other day that I have Hashimoto's disease (hypothyroidism) and my fatigue has been COMPLETELY out of control. Thanks to my DH, I went to bed last night at 8pm and woke up at 9am this morning STILL TIRED!
I've known about hypothyroidism for about 6 years now but this is a tad different... basically my body is making antibodies and slowly destroying my thyroid... in other words TOTALLY not fun.

Anyway, I have laundry to finish, dusting to do, 3 kids to clean up after (spring break) I'm going to try my hardest to get it all done ;)

I totally get it. I was diagnosed a long time ago with Thyroiditis and I had no B12. Once I got my B12 regulated I felt human again. Then about 3 years ago I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Luckily, i have found a supplement regimen that is helping but it takes very little to trigger a flare-up. I am petrified it will happen while on vacation.

Any kind of thyroid supplementation makes me feel worse.

Feel better :flower3:

Oh that is NO fun! I have read a little about Hashimoto's Disease. Wow! I have some sort of chronic pain and fatigue syndrome (possibly Fibromyalgia) -- and it can be so hard as a wife and mom. So many things that NEED to get done and then so many things that you want to get done!! Glad DH was able to let you sleep some! I'm so thankful for my DH -- my girls are on spring break too and I crashed this afternoon. Glad he works from home for my benefit though I know he didn't get anything done until tonight when they were asleep! And speaking of spring break, I totally forgot how many things and toys the kids can get out! Feel better!

Wow! Glad you found something that helps! I can't figure out what triggers my flare-ups (and like I said above it may not be Fibromyalgia) or maybe it's just like you said it's just very little. Every joint in my body hurt this afternoon! I understand about being nervous about a flare-up on vacation! Hopefully no flare-ups and just a relaxing vacation!!

:lmao: DS just started reading about a month ago and just thinks "but" is so funny, so he'll go through an entire Dr. Seuss book and pick out all the "but's."

Isn't it amazing how stressful shoes are when you are flying!?!?! :headache:

This is why I always wear my tennis shoes on the plane b/c they're the heaviest and leave the flipflops in the luggage. Also, instead of taking a purse, I always bring a backpack (which is actually DS's old Eddie Bauer diaper bag but it still looks good) which can also fit an extra set of clothes, DS & my swimsuits & a pair of flipflops ... and it doesn't count as luggage. :thumbsup2

As for shoes.. I usually pick clothes that go with similar shoes. Like I wont bring a pair of shoes that go with 1 outfit.

Ditto. That's why you'll see me in a ton of blacks - they serve triple duty (hehe duty): they match my 1 pair of black shoes, they are slimming and when DS puts his chocolatey hands on my "but," (hehe ... I said butt) it doesn't show as much. :cool1:

I hope you get better soon. That is NO fun - from many perspectives. :sad2:

Ok. Who's so excited about this trip and can't concentrate on work at the office like me??!!

I'm BEYOND excited.... I SOOO need a beach fix!
D.C. is nice and all but when you grow up in Tampa.... you need a beach fix every once in a while.

I've just switched my medicine so I'm thinkin' that is what is going on but man I wish I had a natural supplement I could take to help with energy. All my test results have come back normal (even thyroid with meds) so nothing else is going on with me. I do find that Green tea helps though.

I was glued to the webcam when the Norwegian Gem was coming in to port this morning :lmao:

Oh yeah! Jen & Ron were heading-up the cruise group for the Fantasy sailing we moved from over to here. They're a riot! I've totally been immersing in her review of the Allure of the Seas since we'll be sailing on her for Thanksgiving 2013. She's gooooood.....

Awwww...I totally hope you get to feeling better and rested soon. Bless your heart. What a great hubby you have for letting you rest even if you don't feel like you did. FWIW, I slept 'til 9 this morning because I'm just that lazy and I feel like a sloth for it. :sad2:

Now that you bring up the thyroid thing...we've had a little bit of a scare going on with Chandler right now. He's got some nodules on both sides of his thyroid. Function is just fine. We don't know what the nodules are. He's had an ultrasound & blood work. We went to the endocrinologist last week for the first time. I think we expected too much of that visit. We were hoping to go in there and have him say, "The nodules are fill-in-the-blank " and then we'd know if we should worry or what the deal is. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. He rules out a lot of things with all the questioning and from blood work. Now it's just a wait and see deal. We go back in 6 weeks for him to feel the thyroid again and pull another blood sample to check function. We do another ultrasound in 3-6 months to look for any change. Doing a biopsy this early isn't the best thing to do because even if it was a malignancy you aren't guaranteed to get that result from a biopsy so soon. For a kid who's that terrified of needles (he nearly passed out from having his blood drawn last week :scared:) inserting one into his neck isn't exactly the best course of action just yet. At first we were ready to run him to Houston to another doctor to look for more definitive answers. My mother-in-law gave us quite a bit of a perspective check when we talked to her about it all. She reminded us of the journey they took with my father-in-law's prostate cancer a few years back. Even when his blood work pointed to an elevated PSA it took 4 biopsies over the course of a year before one came back with an abnormality confirming the cancer. The doctor isn't wrong in his recommendations yet. Still, we may go on over to Houston and get him established there once we know for sure where we'll be living over that way. Just the uncertainty.... :confused3

I'm on a webinar right now at work, and every time the host clicks on something on his computer, we can hear a loud "thu-thump" clicking. It is driving me BONKERS! :rotfl:

Heck, I love to order cookies at midnight just because. I don't need an excuse. :rotfl:

I'm always a mess...I can't promise matching shoes here.

When do you get your official cruise paperwork? I finished my check-in almost 2 weeks ago.

Cruise docs typically come about 2-4 weeks prior to sail date. And if you booked through a TA, they will go to the agency first...then your agent needs to be on the ball and send them on to you. :)

I havent gotten anything either. As for shoes.. I usually pick clothes that go with similar shoes. Like I wont bring a pair of shoes that go with 1 outfit.

Ummmmm...I am totally guilty of packing shoes that go with one outfit. In fact, I have been known to not be able to decide on just which pair of shoes I want to wear, and bring multiple pairs for just one outfit.

Oh, I am so sorry. Feeling icky just is no fun no matter what type of icky it is. Your DH is a sweetheart for taking good care of you. :goodvibes

Um, as I said earlier...on a webinar as we "speak" here. :rolleyes1 LOL!

Yeah, those backpacks are a charm! I always travel with one! Now all I need to do is get on the shoe-train and stop bringing so many!

A parent's worst feeling...not knowing what is going on with their child. :grouphug: for you, Kelly. Sending prayers and good vibes Chandler's way so that he doesn't have to go through too much discomfort while determining what the issue is, and that he is in the clear soon!

One of my favorite post I've read was a family that delivered all their FE gifts at 1am then went back to their room and ordered chocolate chip cookies and milk from room service. FUN!:woohoo:

Oh yes! One of my favorite memories on the Dream was the night we did laundry at 1 a.m. and I ordered Mickey Premium bars from room service while we propped up and watched free movies on tv between loads of wash. Fabulous to the utmost!

Delivering FE gifts... :lmao: Now THAT was fun for us! Tracey & I took the team approach. We loaded down 2 tote bags with everything. I carried the list while he carried the deck map. We each had our tumblers totally loaded with...uh...leaded-drinky-drinks. We sipped, stumbled, and giggled our way back and forth, up and down the Dream delivering gifts. If one of our tumblers got low on the contents we'd pick a good pausing-spot in the deliveries for refreshment breaks to go refill and hit the potties. It was a lot of walking (the Dream is so big!) and we were sweating (elevator use was ruled-out as the light-weight way of accomplishing the goal) but in the end it was a blast. When we first joined the cruise group I was hesitant to join the FE. Tracey was so bummed! He said our FE deliveries was quite the highlight for him last time we sailed. Soooo, if you see a couple carrying totes & tumblers giggling their way along up & down the corridors and/or stairways like they're on a mad scavenger hunt, it's just us. :cutie:

That's the worst of it. Thanks for the hugs. I appreciate it.

Webinars are the worst. They put me straight to sleep! :surfweb:

Poor Chandler :( I go to pieces when my kids are sick. Hopefully, you will get some definitive (& positive) answers soon. :goodvibes

Is he still trying to decide about the teen adventure?

Wow. After reading everyone's entries today, it looks like you all could use a nice vacation :goodvibes Seriously, though... So sorry to hear about Chandler's mysterious nodules (so sorry Kelly - I can't imagine the worry) and everyone's struggles with thyroid and auto-immune problems. I hope everyone gets to feeling well for our Magical cruise :lovestruc

I had chronic fatigue for years, so I understand about being tired all the time. I started seeing a naturopath a couple of years ago and am happy to say I feel great most of the time now. I also lost 30 pounds without trying that hard (and zero exercise!). I don't see her anymore, but still take some of her supplements. I just love that woman. And if you knew me at all, you'd know how out-of-family that is for me - to love a naturopath. I'm one of the most conservative people I know. But when you feel that bad for so long, you get desperate (especially when doctor after doctor tells you you're fine!). Sending my best to all of you!
