May 9, 2012: 5 Night Bahamas Cruise on Disney Magic

I'm confused about what is included in the ship?

For example, if we want to drink wine at dinner, what is the best option:
- bring the bottles in and pay $20 (uncorking) each night?
or
- purchase the premium ($219) or classic ($319) wine package?

Another question:

What about the water? Is bottled water included? is it available in the fridge of the stateroom?

Any info is welcome!!!

Have a nice week!!!

Luz

I cant help with the wine question, we dont drink the stuff. But the water I can answer for you. There are no water bottles in your stateroom. You have a couple of choices:

1 - bring your own. If you have to have bottled water, this is the cheapest option

2 - Buy the bottled water on the ship. They will have some sort of a package/case for you to buy water on embarkation day.

3 - Drink the water from the drink station. This is what we
do. Fill bottles you bring or just get a cup of ice water. It is good clean filtered water. You can also always get a glass of water at any of the bars/lounges.

Hope that helps, Im sure someone else will help with the wine question

Well, I've had a super busy cruise preparing weekend! Bought my dress for dress-up night (my little black dress I usually wear is getting tired after three cruises, even though I love that dress). It may still come with, though, and make an appearance some other evening. I also started working on the one, little crafty item for FEs (I am so not a crafty person, which means not much in the way of crafty/homemade stuff in our surprises to hand out!). And I picked up magnet paper earlier today so I can start printing the magnets for our door (started working those up yesterday). It finally feels like things are coming together!

Here's my cutie bunch! It was soooo hard getting them to sit together for this picture. It's the first one I've gotten since Cole was a baby. Cole NEVER wears a shirt unless we make him, which is why it's referred to as "going Cole" if the guys don't wear shirts in our cul de sac. :lmao:

What a gorgeous bunch!

I'm at a loss as to what I'm wearing for dinners. I want to buy a new dress, but I'm a housewife and I know I'll never wear it again. Unless I get some classic cut that's timeless, but I'm pretty sure I've got that black cocktail dress in my closet already that will work just fine. :confused3
Then there's the thought of what the whole family is going to wear, and my head starts to spin.

I don't even concern myself with anyone else anymore. Too much of a headache. (Yeah, right...I say that now, but guess who will be buying and packing all the clothes...)

Um. Been there, done that. I took DS to the zoo on Easter a couple of years ago because they had a special event with the monkeys. The zookeepers dyed a bunch of kiwis and hid them all over the monkey area. We were a part of a huge, hushed crowd all waiting for the monkeys to come out and find the kiwis. When they finally let them out, there just so happened to be 2 that were ... um ... connected. When DS saw that, he proceeded to yell out at the top of his lungs "Look, Mommy! That monkey has a big giant p*nis." over and over again. The entire group just burst out laughing while 1 dad nearby said "Whose kid is that?" I chimed in and said "I have no idea. Whose kid is that?" I thought I was going to die of embarrass that day. Since then, not much rattles me that comes out of DS's mouth.

Bwahahahahahaha! Now, that is funny...especially your response to the guy!

We have always just purchased a glass of wine individually as necessary. It really depends on how much you will drink each evening, if the package will be worth it for you. The other thing to think about is how much of a hassle will it be to pick up a few bottles of wine and bring them on board. If it's not much trouble, and you do not plan on drinking an entire bottle each night, that might be the better way to go.

I know, I know...I'm not much help! :rotfl:

I taught Sunday school awhile back and I asked what did God make and one of the little four year old said "my wee wee" safe to my husband had to step out and laugh. I had to quickly divert the other children minds and move on.

Oh dear! Not sure what I would have done in that situation...probably burst out laughing!

Beautiful children! I can't wait to meet all these kids

As far as what to wear. My mom mentioned yesterday she saw a lot of dresses at WalMart. So out of curiosity I check walmart.com this morning and there are quite a few for $20 or less. I don't wear dresses very often but Camille (my almost 14 y/o) is wanting to wear dresses on the ship, which is very SHOCKING. I thought I would bring one or two.

Also, Old Navy had dresses on sale over the weekend. I only looked at the ones in the window display but they were cute.

I don't have a Palo reservation. I wanted to do a brunch but every time I check EVERYTHING shows sold out :sad2:

Ok. That is funny. I try soooo hard to keep a straight face just so that I doesn't encourage DS to say more stuff. :rotfl2:

As I'm typing this, my DS just ran buck naked out of the bathroom laughing his head off while my DH is chasing him around out house counting 1, 2, 3 ... I'm sure I will miss this in the near future. :lmao:

I think this is a personal decision. If you think you'll be able to drink a bottle (approx 6 glasses) a night, then the packages prob make sense. For us, we generally will have 1-2 glasses of wine with dinner supplemented by 1-2cocktails throughout the day, so it doesn't make sense for us as we would have a lot of wine left over, and it would actually be more expensive to have the pkg. Plus, we don't want to feel like we HAVE to drink wine if we didn't want to. On our last cruise, I brought 2 of my favorite pinots for our cabin. I came down with a nasty cold and never even opened either. If I recall correctly, the house wines are about $6-$8/glass (comparable to a mid-grade restaurant). You can do the math from there.

Where do you get magnet paper??? Do you save them templates to your desktop and then print them out on magnet paper?? I really want to make some magnets but I am clueless as to how to make them

That is too funny!! My DH is a children's pastor so I can totally appreciate that! Kids say the funniest things.

We were at the mall tonight and we walked past the Disney Vacation Club Store. They had a huge Mickey in their window and the Mickey face was a screen showing clips of a DC. My DD said "WOW mommy look its a Disney Cruies!!!!!" I said well maybe someday we can go on one. She said "probably never" OH JUST YOU WAIT LITTLE GIRL! 40 more days and we will be in WDW!!!!! I cant wait to tell them!!!!

Woodfield? How fun is that...I would have probably blurted it out...you definitely have good restraint. You must tell us their reaction when they find out about the cruise!

I buy magnet paper from Office Max (I believe Staples and Office Depot have it also), and have found Avery brand is the best. The easiest process I have discovered is to create a Power Point slide for each magnet picture by copying the picture/graphic to PP, then adding a text box to that slide for whatever I want it to say. After that, I do a select all, copy...and then paste it into a Word doc. Doing this does not separate out the pic and text box in Word so nothing gets skewed if you want to make it bigger or smaller. (This was a huge thing for me the first time I did this process, as I experimented with sizes, depending on what the magnet was. Also, if you make a few smaller, you can print several on one sheet of magnet paper and then cut them out after printing. At $13.99 for five sheets, trust me, I find a way to get as many out as possible! LOL)

That's so awesome that you can keep something like this a secret. There's NOOOO way I can keep it in for that long from DS. I would self-combust!

I can't believe we're THIS close to sailing that FE deadline is this Sat!! I hope those who are on the fence take the plunge. You will NOT regret it!!! :thumbsup2

It's like pulling teeth to get Maya in a dress or skirt! I have 2 so far that she's "approved", I'd love to find a couple of simple sun dresses for her to put on for dinner. I'll have to check out Old Navy and WalMart. :thumbsup2

I'm horrible in these situations because I'm the one who burst out laughing even before the other kids do. Kids crack me up.

I found my Avery paper at Walmart, I can't remember how much I paid for it. I haven't tried to use it in my printer yet, but I use photoshop for all my photos. There are some great magnet photos out at this link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2172891
You could just download and save to your computer then print out. Just make sure and run some test prints on plain paper because at 13.99 for five sheets you don't want to make a mistake. :scared1:
Let us know what you want to print out, and I'm sure one of us could find it and email it to you.

Our trip is a secret as well from the kids but my out is "I'm talking about the cruise next january", they still think we are going on that one ;)

As for the magnet... I need to do it too but don't have paper yet. I also don't have Power Point so I might need some help.

THANK YOU for all info about beverages!!! (I don't know how to multi quote!) It was really useful! Considering that we are "social drinkers", we dont drink more than 1 or 2 glasses and not everyday... we are going to ask the glasses directly at dinner... it's cheaper... And I'm going to bring bottled water only for the excursions.

Kisses:love:

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I got my hands on Chandler's dress pants from last September. Doesn't look like they'll fit. He's now wearing the same size as his dad. Sooooo, if anyone can use a pair of 34x30 dress pants I have a barely-used pair of wrinkle-resistant Croft & Barrows from Kohls. ;)

Do you guys know when our cruise documents are supposed come?

Officially they are supposed to arrive 2-4 weeks before sail date, but you can start looking for them now (occasionally they will arrive sooner). If you booked through a travel agent, the agent receives them directly from DCL then forwards them to you. I so cannot wait for our docs because tomorrow is...

SIX WEEKS!!!

Yes Woodfield... we live pretty close to that mall. Have you been there? Thanks for the magnet tips. I dont have PP, but maybe my DH can do that. UGH.. it just gives him more reasons tho to think Im crazy!

No PP here either.. I also want to do the port hole Mickey & Minnie. LOVE that idea!

Don't worry I've already prepared some magnets for all of you!!!:flower3:
YAY! You are so sweet!

Sometimes having a kick-butt TA makes all the difference!!!

Remember my upgrade wasn't as much as I thought it was going to be??? In fact, it was $240 less. My TA took care of the upgrade for me via iPad on the bus from WDW to PC for her Fantasy preview cruise. After she got home she was looking back over things and caught why it came back less than we thought. DCL's system rolled my prepaid gratuities in and applied that amount + my additional $255 to pay the $495 difference for the upgrade. She said the system isn't supposed to do that so she called DCL to address it. At first the person she spoke to tried to explain she must've done it by mistake but she pointed out that it's not even possible for her to do that even if she wanted to. She was referred to a supervisor. Not entirely sure if she held out or suggested that DCL eat the difference and put my prepaids back but after a lengthy conversation they said they'd look into it and call her back. So I just got an email from my looooovely TA saying that DCL is honoring the upgrade price she gave me and is puting my prepaid gratuities back in place at no additional cost to me. WooHOOOO!!! Would DCL have done this for me if I'd have been the one they were talking with? I sorta doubt it but who knows? I'm just glad to have such a kick-butt TA who handled it all for me! :goodvibes
