May 8th - Doylestown PA WISH Walk!

We invite you to join us on May 8th at 2 PM for a WISH Walk in Doylestown Pennsylvania!

Last October, 3 WISHers met and did a 6.2 mile walk at a comfortable strolling pace in Doylestown. We had a wonderful time together! We've decided to do it again!

Who: WISHers, DISers, and any family & friends you care to bring along.
What: A 6.2 mile walk at whatever pace is comfortable for you.
Where: Doylestown PA, which is north of Philly and south of Allentown. We'll be starting at Starbucks (more exact directions later) which is in downtown Doylestown.
When: 2 PM on May 8th 2004. Pray for sunshine because we're not planning a rain date.
Why: For the FUN of it!!

Any idea how far of a drive it is from the DC area?

Monica, I used Mapquest.com and entered Washington DC to Doylestown PA and the directions took me through the Harbor Tunnel to I-95 to the PA Turnpike. The total mileage was about 160 miles and the drive time was about 3 hours. I don't know where in the DC area you're coming from but this is a rough guess - hope it helps!

Thanks - I hadn't gotten that far yet....if I can do this, may head up the night before and spend the night (maybe even in Philly).

I am probably 2-3 hours away also. I will definitely check my calander. What is the topography of Doylestown like? I am guessing it is rather hilly.

Actually the route of the walk is pretty flat, and mainly on sidewalks. The route takes us by 2 castles built by Henry Mercer, among other places. The town of Doylestown features lots of trees and upscale older homes - beautiful area!

Well, I hadn't thought about green ribbons but I will post a picture of myself and I'll describe the outfit I'm going to wear when we get closer to the date.

Hi Doreen,

I'll have to check with my daughter because I signed us up for a Science Day in the afternoon at my work. If she says she doesn't want to do it, then I am definately in. We had so much fun last time!!

I missed the last one, really want to be there this time? I am only 15 minutes away.

Anyone object to a dog coming along? He doesn't have to, but he is well behaved and cute (medium sized). Oh, yeah, husband will probably come, too!

All friendly pups are welcome as long as they are leashed at all times and you clean up after them. My mini-dachshund, Maya, doesn't play well with others, so she's staying home.

My DH will also be going, so he'll be happy to have some male company!

Does anyone from the Doylestown or surrounding area know of any good hotels close by??

Depending on how you get to Doylestown. There are several new motels off the Quakertown exit on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. There is a Holiday Inn and a Hampton in. There is also two older hotels, one they rennovated ( I belive this is a comfort inn) and the other one I wouldn't stay at, it looks old and grungy.

You would then take 663 (the road that hotels are on) to 309, crossover 309 and 663 will turn into 313. 313 will take you directly into Doylestown which is maybe 20 minutes down the road.

I don't know what's in Doylestown.

I don't think I am going to be able to go because my DD is saying she wants to go to the Science day, and DH is talking about going to Hershey if the weather is good. Sounds like there are two things lined up to do.
