We were at dl for the day (flew in friday at 9:30pm & out on sunday @ 11:30am). I was worried that it would be busy - it was not bad. The park was clean and nice to see it kept up. Lots of CM keeping the garbage cleaned up. Had a wonderful time (never had anything else at Disney) but it was a long day! We were out of the hotel at 7am and did not go back until after midnight.

The desert inn & suites hotel was nice, stayed in a room in the back - nice and quite. Clean and comfortable. I had thought about staying at the GC but we were not at the hotel enough to pay those prices.

There is a beautiful new theme park exclusive book called disneyland now and then (I think). They were selling quickly according to the CMs. I don't remember how much they are.

A few issues:
Please if you have young teens, remind them that there ARE other people in the park eventhough your are not with them and just because we are older then they are - we can still hear. No one wants to hear them screaming in the middle of the street or waiting in line, etc.

You may want to ask more then one CM for the same information if it is important. We were told incorrect information a number of times. We assumed that they have new CMs that don't know everything. This is the first time I have had this happen. Since we didn't have the kids with us and were really there for just the tour/disneyland the first 50 magical years, it wasn't too much an issue.

Our trip:
The weather could not have been better and as I said the crowds were not bad.

The Walk in Walts Footsteps Tour was wonderful. The lunch was very good - nice selection. We watched the show at in frontierland while we ate. Our guilde (Dee) was very good. If you want to do this tour, call as soon as possible (30 days in advance). It is now part of the AAA package and very busy.

The parade - I think I have seen too many Disney parades (DL & WDW). While the DL parade was nice, we were not impressed. The floats were nice but I think some of their other parades were better. There were not that many floats. We did have a great place to tape it! If you are going to tape the parade, one if the best places was at the main street train stop. The float are big and to get the whole thing you really need to be up high. We were there for the 4pm parade and were standing up the stairs to the right (looking at the depo). We got the parade coming around the cornor. Since I don't have a tripod, we put the camera on top of the garbage can - just make sure it doesn't slam when someone uses it.

Fireworks - They were wonderful. Unfortunately Regies & Kelly were filming infront of the castle sunday morning so there was alot of stuff in the way. We did not have the best place to view. I heard that a good place was under the Partners statue because you need to be able to see from the matterhorn to the left side of the castle. Tink does alot of flying around the castle so the fireworks are off the the left side when she is in the air. I wish we were there 2 nights so I could have been in a better place to film it. Oh well, I'll just have to go back again!

We did not spend much itme in DCA but the parade was high energy and looked like fun. Would definately take my daughter!

I think I will be going in October when my daughter is at camp again. This time I'll take my mom so she can do the tour. I could get used to trips without children very easily!!!! I did spend alot of time thinking about them but it was nice not to have to go on the teacups over and over again. It was definately worth the expense for a short but very relaxing trip.
