Thanks to everyone for reading and commenting! I'm finding that writing a trip report kind of makes you feel like your still on vacation, so on to Day Two!

Day 2 (Key West)

DH and J went to the morning spin class. Ugg. DH and I both work out at home, five days a week, but I was not about to hit the gym while on vacation. The ship's gym is really very nice though. DH liked the class a lot- said it was much different from the one at our gym. I slept in. :)
We weren't ready to go until after 10:30, so we went to brunch at Lumiere's. (S and J were not with us this morning) The CM took us to a table in the back of the restaurant and as we walked we passed at least half a dozen tables that just had two people sitting at them so I assumed we would get our own table as well. No such luck. In my defense, I DO like to meet new people, but I was still tired and just wanted to eat without the effort of small talk. The worst part was, we were sat with a couple with two small children! DH and I have no children yet and we don't have any in our family, so we are not at all used to having meals with them, and have not quite acquired the patience and understanding that people with small children have. DH (who is extremely kind and much more patient then me) gave me the "don't freak out" look as the squirming kids sat/climbed into chairs across from me. The parents turned out to be really interesting people. They had lived all over the world and spoke many different languages. They were very nice and easy to chat with. But the kids, well... The first thing the little girl did upon arriving at the table (she was probably 3 or 4) was open four packs of Equal, dump them on her plate and then eat it with her fingers. She then proceeded to climb under the table and all over my legs, then she alternated climbing up her chair with climbing over my legs. Older brother spent most of the time arguing with dad and spilling things. To keep them busy, mom gave them packs of jelly to eat with a spoon, which didn't keep them busy, it just gave them more to spill. I know I have no right to judge because I've never been a parent, but one thing is for sure- if I had acted like that at the table when I was a kid my mother would have knocked me into next week. :confused3

Anyway, after brunch we met up with S and J and headed into Key West around noon. It was beautiful outside and very warm. We decided to walk down Duvall Street. We went into lots of shops and stopped for drinks at one of the tiny outdoor bars. We also bought one of those GIANT chocolate chip cookies. Yummy!!

We ended up walking all the way to the southern most point- took some pictures and then started to head back.

We had those great 2 for 1 coupons and I really wanted to try the Butterfly Conservatory, so I begged the guys to go with me. They couldn't refuse a 2 for 1 coupon, so we went in. It was pretty small but so amazing! The butterflies just fly around you everywhere and sometimes they land on you! We snapped tons of pictures of us with butterflies perched in various places- J had one on his hat, I had one on my shoulder. S took a great picture with one perched on his finger. Really beautiful place. I highly recommend it if you like that sort of thing.

The walk back seemed much longer. We were pretty hot and hungry at this point. We stopped and rested at Irish Kevin's- a slightly rowdy bar full of people who were pretty much drunk. There was a guy on stage singing random songs, and he would often stop to yell things at people passing by, or make fun of the crazy people in the bar, or make someone chug an entire beer. It was a pretty fun atmosphere but definitely for adults only ;) DH and I aren't really big drinkers, so we didn't stay very long.
We made our way back to the ship and went straight to Deck 9 for some chicken fingers and hot dogs by the pool. It was great sitting there looking out over Key West, just relaxing after a fun day.

DH and I went back to the room to change. Then we decided to check out Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer in Studio C. I remember when they did the realistic version of the game in the regular theater and I guess I was expecting it to still be like that. Of course it wasn't. It was basically for kids. The questions were super easy and they make it so you can't lose. We stayed for a couple of rounds, then left to find Peter Pan and Wendy in the lobby. They looked really cute but their line had already been cut off so we just watched them for a while.

It was finally dinner time! We were in Animator's Palate that night. The new menus are pretty! Maria brought kids menus again for J and I, and crayons. Sandor had already made my "special salad" (as he called it) for me. I like the food in the restaurants well enough, but I just feel like it's always the same thing every night. They may have different fancy names for everything, but it's basically Steak, fish, roasted chicken and then some other meat like pork or duck. I start to really miss different choices like quesadillas and meat loaf and pasta! I'm not complaining, that's just MHO. Desserts are my favorite. I don't know what I had this night, but I know I had ordered three desserts and ate most of them. Then S asked for a Mickey bar and Sandor brought a bowl of like, six of them, so I had one of those too. MMMMMM!
At this meal, we started to break the ice a little with our table mates. First of all we realized that our traveling parties were exactly the same- one married couple and two guy friends. They were from Canada and that "other language" they were speaking turned out to be French, of course. Two of them spoke pretty good English so we learned their names- Flavio, Eric, Martin and Annie. Flavio and Annie were the best English speakers. They did a lot of translating for the other two, though Martin did a lot of his own talking toward the end of the cruise, and I think that Eric could understand what we said but he couldn't really speak back to us. We hadn't completely opened up to each other yet but we were making progress! Martin wasn't feeling very well so he ordered nothing for dessert and Sandor brought the traditional plate with the word "nothing" written on it. I had read about that here on the boards but it was still very funny to me. :rotfl:

After dinner we went to the 60s dance party at Rockin' Bar D. DH, J and I hit the dance floor while S hung back at the bar. We were dancing like maniacs. There were enough people there to fill the whole dance floor and the cruise staff was dancing around in their 60s outfits. Cruise staff, in case anyone was wondering (and we got to know them all pretty well throughout the week) was Travis (bingo), Michael, Belle, Lauren, Jamie, Christian, Pikey and DJ Hollywood. They were all fantastic.
After about twenty minutes of dancing like a maniac, my four desserts caught up with me and I wasn't feeling so well. Go figure! DH took me back to the room and we went right to sleep.

Day three, coming soon! Thanks for reading, and please ask if you have any questions!

Really enjoying your trip report. Keep on going! Thanks for taking time to share it with us.

Where do you get the 2 for 1 coupons at? I know I read it somewhere, but can't seem to find it.

Thanks for the link. We aren't going til 2007, so I bookmarked the site for future coupons!

Thanks for the link for the coupons. We may have something cheap to do in Key West now.

That's interesting about brunch at Lumiere's and being seated with a family. I had breakfast there twice - the first time was just me and my 8 yr old so we got a table by ourselves. As we were seated, they asked if we would mind having companions or if we'd prefer to be by ourselves. I chose to be by ourselves so we could have some "mom and me" time together.

The second day I had breakfast there, I wanted to sit by one of the windows and would've been glad to have companions but they asked to seat me somewhere else - guess they were saving all those prime window seats for other guests, so they put me at a 4-top. They didn't ask me about sitting with other guests or not. A few minutes after I had ordered, an older couple was seated with me - their only seating preference, they said, was just not with anyone younger than 21 :) Whew - at 40, I was a safe bet LOL.

Here's some butterfly pics:
