May 6, 2006 - 7 nite Western - Anyone Crusing?

Kinda early in Washington State to be on the ole PC isn't it? But wait till NEXT week. By the cruise you folks will have lost 5 hours!! Bless your hearts! (I am the only guy in America who still complains about DST. Well, actually, there is a farmer near us who complained last year that the "extra" hour of sunlight burnt up all his crops, but I think he was exagerating a bit! :lmao: )

You may be right about my wife. I asked her one day would she love me when I was old and gray. She answered "I do." I found very little comfort in her words. She told a neighbor we had been happily married for 9 years - we've been married for almost 32? I wasn't sure how to take that either. I just made it clear to her that if she ever left me I was going with her. :moped:

I do intend on using the stairs again if for no other reason than I won't embarass my DW by making comments in the elevator about it being built by the lowest bidder, or asking if anyone smells smoke. Besides, if I eat as well and as MUCH as I did last time, by the time we get to Castaway Cay I might be mistaken on the beach for Shamu. :dumbo:

Have a great week and let's get packin'!!!!! :yay:

Chris :earsboy:

Chocolate AND lobster together? That's not a pretty picture! I have this rather graphic imagination! For example, I had tried to have escargot one time but when I put salt on them they disappeared!?! Hmmmm??? :confused3

Anyway, it's gonna be fun and I can't wait either! A week to stress my Nexium to the limits! Can't wait!! :thumbsup2

Later,
Chris :bounce:

I think my DH's favorite part of Castaway were the lobsters..They served so many lobster burgers on our cruise is wasnt even funny. IM not sure I have ever had lobster...In just a few sweet days, we will be able to say we are cruising next month....im very excited..My lists are made but the shopping has not begun...Still trying to figure out where to board our dog!
Amy

Wow. You guys have been busy this morning! It's barely 9am here but at least the sun is shining - it's gonna be a great day! :sunny:

I was way too busy to make that choc. souffle this weekend. Perhaps I'll make it today?? DD had her first 2 softball games this weekend and they didn't get rained out! :thumbsup2

I am SO ready to pack and get outta here! The paper chain is getting shorter, I can finally move it down a couple of feet from where I have it tacked up (15 feet from the floor!) The kids are going nuts waiting. :Pinkbounc

I've asked before, but I'll ask again in case anyone new missed it. We're going to WDW for 10 days before the cruise and are staying at the POR. We're all going to be taking the DCL bus down. Will anyone on this site be joining us?

So, my family has 30 days until our trip! Can't wait! Just sorry to miss out on the last 10 days of chatter on the boards.

I've decided to skip the shots.

p.s. Will navy pants, a shirt and tie, and a beige dress jacket suffice for DH for formal night? Can you wear the same thing both formal and informal? And what about Pirate night? Can you just wear the same old casual stuff if you don't have anything tropical? I'm sure you can but I don't want us to look weird, and out of place!

p.s.s. Anyone willing to share their packing list with me? I'm so overwhelmed! I think its because I realize that I have to do laundry in WDW before the cruise! Blah.....I hate laundry! I want to avoid it on the cruise,so I need to make sure I pack enough to last a week, but not too much! ....

Yep! I have to get up early to get dh out the door! :)

I asked her one day would she love me when I was old and gray. She answered "I do."

:thumbsup2 Sounds like something I would tell my hubby! LOL

Wow, I can't believe we missed lobster on CC! Seriously, we did not ever see lobster served on CC! :) Of course, we always came back over to the family beach to eat with ds (make sure he eats something) and that may be why? OR-it could be that I don't (gasp) like lobster and never noticed. :rolleyes1

Still trying to figure out where to board our dog!
Amy

Me too! It is driving me crazy! My dogs are a bit on the spoiled side (major understatement), and trying to think about boarding them in a kennel is driving me nuts! Then I think I will have a neighbor come over and let them out occasionally or whatever, but that is a looooong time (we will be gone 10 days total) for them to be alone in the house. I have visions of mass revolt on my hands and coming home to trashed furniture and psycho dogs plotting my demise for leaving them for so long. :stir: My dear sweet hubby keeps saying "They are dogs, put them somewhere safe, where they are fed and occasionally let out, and they will be fine." Yeah right!
Sorry for the ramble there...LOL

We are going after the cruise to Downtown Disney...does that count? :)

Yes, those outfits (sorry guys, I know you don't wear outfits) would be fine. I have seen every imaginable kind of dress for formal night. My dh will wear dark pants, striped shirt with tie and a dark suitcoat...which will be on the back of the chair most of the night. :)
You might want to think about possibly getting a tropical shirt in Cozumel the day we are in if you aren't doing an all day excursion. that is, if you really want to dress tropical or piratey (if that is a word?). That way you don't have to pack it up front. As for laundry, keep in mind that on the ship you can rewear a lot of stuff, we promise not to say anything about wearing something more than once. :rolleyes1

My packing list is pretty slim, I am notorious for underpacking and then regretting it. But here goes: this is for seven days...

Women: 1 pair of dark capris, 1 pair of light capris, 2 pairs of shorts, 2 swim suits, 1 swim cover up, 1 formal dress, 1 casual dress, 5-6 shirts to mix and match with capris and shorts, pajamas (2), underclothes, make up, blow dryer/iron combo (I have a blow dryer that has different heads for it and it blows your hair dry and curls it at the same time), deoderant, perfume, etc. sneakers, sandals and formal shoes. Pantyhose, socks.

Extra stuff: air freshner for bathroom and room, bonine for motion sickness, medical kit with aspirin (I always carry a first aid type kit), extra hangers, highlighter pen, notebook to carry papers in, book to read (yeah, like i ever do), portable dvd player and a couple of movies (it gets rather boring sitting in airports all day. Coming from the West Coast, we have two full days of airport travel: oh goodie). I am sure i will think of more, but that's it for now.
The guys pack even less. We usually each have a carryon and we stuff one large suitcase for the three of us. Sick, I know. :goodvibes :)

Lisa

My DW is planning on packing light - VISA, MASTERCARD, and AMEX. (I've already packed the kitchen sink and two of the cats!)

As to "looking weird" on tropical night that can only happen if you dress "normal" - a condition with which I am very unfamiliar. (My DW suggested I paint myself green and come as a "human bean", but I thought that was a bit abstract.) I suggest you go barefoot and wear a towel parrot on your shoulder. Nobody'd probably notice! pirate:

DW and I will be staying in Orlando at a Westgate resort for the week following the cruise. We're going to visit the Titanic exhibit and count our blessings ------------- hopefully! :sail:

As to missing the last 10 days of chatter - - - those of us who have no "life" will try to keep the board up to date with vital and essential information - or not. :smooth:

Quick poll: So far, based on the posts it seems we have14 states and 2 countries posting here. (13 and 3 if you count Alabama as a third world)
Here's my list:
AL, Washington State, Ga, NJ, Ca, PA, VA, FL, RI, IL, CO, NY, MO, OK and BOSTON UK as well as Victoria BC. Any others I missed??? princess:

Gotta run!
Chris :mickeyjum

We're also coming for the West Coast. Victoria, B.C.! Any other Canucks on this cruise?

We're flying on Alaska airlines. After the cruise we're catching the 6:00 flight to Seattle. Boring long day at the airport I know. Anyone else on that flight?

thanks for the packing list. Ugh, have to make one for my 3 kids! I don't even know what fits them anymore! I have to try on clothes, make lists, shop.....sigh.

I wish we could just be magically transported there without all the hassle.

There is a great packing list www.disboards.com i think its under the thread everything you wanted to know...Its close to the top and doesnt move. Someone made a great organized list there...Its got everything from what to do before the cruise, to carry ones, men, womens and childrens things..
it rocks!
amy

Nice packing list. And guess what, it will help me justify to DH my need to take at least 5 pair of shoes! :thumbsup2

On a different note, I finally have a formal dress to take. I had this great black dress my sister gave me a few months ago - except it was 2 sizes too big. Today I successfully altered it to fit me. I've been debating for 2 months whether or not to even try to alter it, and so I finally just sat down and did it and it fits perfect! :cool1:

slg: I wish we were flying Alaska Air because it's n/s from Seattle (which is only a quick 30 min flight from Portland). We had miles for America West so that is what we are flying.

Ok, whomever said to book flights early (not here) was incorrect. I just checked our flights this am and noticed United had them for $300 per person less than what I paid two weeks ago!!! :furious: So I called United and, since we are keeping the same itinerary, they will credit us the difference! This makes an extra $900...so you can imagine I will be   tonight! :)

So, book late and get a better deal.

where are those childless couples?
we are going as a family..so my 5yr old niece and 3 year old and 10mo nephews will also be joining..anyone going without kids? this will be our 3rd disney cruise and we always have such a good time

Dh and I will be on this cruise sans kids. The wait is killing me!!

I told DH that I'm gonna have him get down the luggage from the attic this weekend. I have just a few things in my room to pack. I bought the girls their t-shirts and sharpies to have the characters sign. I just have to order the pillow cases from JC Penney that are going to be embroidered with their names.

I "fit" into my black dress, but want it to look better on so I will be dieting and getting up before 6am to go to curves until the cruise. Down 15 lbs., so it is a start!

MickeyD, that is great the $$$ you saved on airfare! But I did buy my tickets from SW within a few days of them releasing the fares for our dates and got a great Ding rate. They have not come close to it since. We paid $450 for the 4 of us to fly non-stop. Some airlines it does pay to book early, but at a price you think is good. We too have a very spoiled dog. Decided instead of boarding her with the vets like usual we asked my DB to come stay at our house while we are gone and take care of her. He lives at my Mom's so it is a vacation for him from her and she gets a week of not having his 2 DD's there for 4 days. I'm bording our 2 parrots though, don't trust him enough to care for them. They are more demanding than the dog.

jcfowler, you are so funny...DH's worst enemy this time of year is the marshmellow choc covered eggs! He will even hit up the kids if they have them. Me, I love malted eggs...watch out if they are around!

You did forget us in the chilly Northeast on your list. There are 2 of us coming from CT. :teeth:

Have a nice day everyone....time to go get ready for work to make some more cruise loot!

Connecticut IS on MY list - here at the house (You and Sharon are both yam dankees aren't you!). I thought everybody from north of Kentucky was still here in a condo for the winter. I fergot 'um.

My forgetfulness also comes in handy this time of year because I can hide my own Easter Eggs! Other than that is it not considered an advantage. My sincerest apologies to the "Connecticut Yankees" on this board.

I guess it may be a "guy" thing too. :sad2: Women(wives), however, never seem to forget. I tell my wife every time she gets mad at me she gets "historical". She says "You mean hysterical don't you?" I say "No. Whenever you get mad you are always bringing up the past!" :hippie:

Note to Sharon - I do apologize for mis-spelling your name in an earlier post. That's worse than spelling Connecticut as "Connectciut"! :rolleyes1 Just kidding!! I spent four of my best years in the fifth grade trying to learn how to spell "Christopher". Ahh - public school in Alabama! Nothing like 'um! :p

For those of us who like to "stalk" the Magic by webcams, go to the caymanport (dot) com website and look at the view on dock camera 4. Guess what I see pulling into port?? :sail: I have a new "wallpaper every eight seconds!! (Talk about NO LIFE!!)

It's coming folks! :cool1: :cheer2: :bounce: :lmao: :rotfl2:

BTY for those with dogs needing care. Our local Chinese Restaurant will house them for free, but there does seem to be a problem with an occasional "loss" of one or two mutts. pixiedust: :stir: Be sure to check out YOUR local restaurants! :dog: pug: :stitch:

Later!

Yay Lisa! What a great savings! You scared me a minute though and I had to go look and see if perhaps my rates were now cheaper. Well they are 3 times as much now as we paid a few months ago when we booked. I for one am glad we booked early. We got our airfare for $200 per person R/T. Coming all the way from WA, that is pretty darn good I think.
Enjoy your HUGE savings :sunny:

Welcome MOMTOCUTESTDOGEVER! :wave2: Glad you could join us.

Thank you! You would think that booking early saves, as it usually does. So I have no idea what United is doing. It is NEVER cheap to fly from Pasco! :( But now I am only paying $400 pp instead of $700! I'd much prefer to pay the $200 you are! :)

Welcome MOMTOCUTESTDOGEVER! However, I beg to differ on your screen name. :teeth: I have the cutest dogs ever! :)

Funny...but sick. :)
