Any of the 14-15 yr olds or in that age range interested in doing a penpal or email exchange with our 14 yr old boy?

Tracy,
My son will be 17 on the cruise, but he might be willing to email with your son. One of his best friends is just turned 15. He's still asleep (no school this week) so I can't ask him yet. PM me and we can exchange info for them, if you want.

My two DD Hailee 5 and DS Ryen 7 would love to do the Christmas card exchange, how fun!

Also does any one know if they let my children stay together in the kids club, Ryen will be 8 at the time of cruising?

We will be in cabin 6070!! I am nervous about this because it is a connecting room. I ordered my passport after we chose our room, after reading they say these rooms are very noisy. Any one with experience? We are just so excited about going I don't know how we are going to make it until May!

 I was wonering if anyone who has already taken a Disney Cruise has any pictures to share of their decorated cabin doors. :artist: Would you be willing to share? Would it be fun to have a May 5th Western Caribbean Magic Cruise Dis-Member Door Decoration Contest? It will be something to start doing while we wait to pack! :Pinkbounc
I've thought of everything!! :teacher: First, all the families that want to be involved sign in here. Second, when we have our meet and great we can hand out ballots with room numbers. Should everyone in the family get a vote, or just one vote per family? Third, the prize can be a goody bag that has a gift from each family. For example, each family involved would bring an item worth $5 - $10 that would be a remembrance of them and where they come from. Of course, then we would need a second meet and greet with a unbiased judge to tally up the votes and give out the prize.
Any one interested? Any other ideas about voting, prizes, etc.? Is this just a stupid idea?

ok those that want to get involved in the christmas card exchange..how about sending me a pm with your snail mails and names and ages of the kids and i will compile a master list. I will send out the master list to everyone around dec 1st so everyone has time to get enough cards and such and get them in the mail.. does that sound good?

I've just about got all of my door signs done. Well, I should say they are saved to my computer but not printed out. I hope they will look ok printed out and are not too blurry. As is they are not very good, but I'm no computer guru and my family will like them just knowing I tried. I made one to stay on the door for the whole cruise and an extra one for each different day. The contest sounds like fun but I would feel guilty entering as the graphics that I used were primarily courtesy of fellow Disers and not my original work. I got many ideas from the Door Sign thread and some of my signs belong totally to others (I used with permission) and I just changed the names and dates.

Just FYI re the magnets, while magnetic paper can be pricey, you can also use the magnetic tape strips and put them on the back of photo paper or laminated pper or Michaels sells magnetic frames that look like a scrapbook page sleeve that are also options.

As for the X-mas cards it sounds like great fun, but I think DS may be too little. He loves pictures but is fairly uninterested in cards, sorry.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Kim, My only artistic talent is I like what I see!! First off, I am still not sure what they look like and second, I would probably be looking for free shareware too. It could still be fun. Is there still a Door Sign thread out there?

Here's a link to the thread

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=15649160#post15649160

Its 98 pages and nearly 1500 posts long - lots of good suggestions and tips. Check out page 98 - Cruisecrzy was kind enough to tell me how to save graphics and create a sign using MS Paint (which I believe comes standard with Microsoft). I borrowed her sign graphics.

Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!

You too.. Hope everyone is enjoying their day. we are off to my dads house shortly.

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. :goodvibes We had a very happy (but busy) one and I'm thankful its over because I'm stuffed and tired!

Ok how many of you battled the Black friday shopping madhouse?? Not me. i worked instead. but i am going to battle a few crowds on saturday after i get off work and go shopping. Don't really need anything as i got my christmas and birthday shopping all done. just out browsing to get out of the house and enjoy the rest of the weekend that i will have off.

I didn't go out either. Never do. We slept in then went out for a big breakfast, came home and cleaned out the back room, did laundry. My friend from West Hollywood came over to visit and we went out to dinner. Made plans to go to Disneyland on the 16th with her. Tomorrow we go to DH's dads in Hemet for dinner. I'll probably gain 5lbs on this 4 days off!

No way, not me! I started putting up the Christmas tree, discovered half my lights don't work and wouldn't even go to K-Mart or WallyWorld (Walmart) to get more. The ornaments can just sit in the floor for another day. My last Black Friday was the year I was pregnant. I don't know what I was thinking and I swore not to do it again. Standing in line with a mob, at the crack of dawn, only to discover that Radio Shack only received a few of their wonderfully priced DVD players which they sold out in the first 5 minutes of opening is not my idea of a good time. :sad2: I bought a big screen TV (which I waited in a VERY long line for at Best Buy) but their computers were down :badpc: and they neglected to "enter my purchase (that I paid for) at a later time" so my order never got processed and they didn't have a TV for me. If it weren't for the fact that the manager remembered me as previously having been one of the attorneys for the store I never would have gotten that TV. They first offered me just $300 off a much more expensive one. I'm rambling...point is, its just SOOO not worth the stress! I hope those of you that braved Black Friday returned home unscathed! :goodvibes

Nope! Me either! (shudder)...I would not touch a store on Black Friday. My one sister goes every year and I think she is just either very brave or very insane. :)
I had to work anyway. But today is putting up the tree and getting the house decorated. :cool1:
We have so many birthdays in the month of December that I need to get to some store and start birthday shopping...now I have to mail all the presents since we moved up here. :(

I usually wait until the ads come out to determine whether or not I attempt black Friday. This year we wanted a lcd tv for our bedroom, so hubby talked me into going while he stayed home in bed. So...of course, if I'm out what else can we possibly need??? So I ended up going to Wal-Mart 1st where I encountered MAJOR frustration.

1st - they will not price match anything on black Friday even though they have done this in the past.

2nd - they only rec'd 7 52" tv's that were half price and they handed out coupons for them at 3AM not at 6 when they should have gone on sale. Oh and let me tell you that I can confirm that at least 4 out of the 7 went to employees. No big surprise.

3rd - the one thing I wanted - the lcd tv - no one knew where they were. They handed out maps when you went in and stated they were in layaway, but layaway didn't know that. They had 3 Big sale items and that was there focus.

So I walked out with the dvd Ice Age 2, which I could have bought any other day for the same price.

Then I headed to Sears, where I paid $100 more for the lcd but didn't really care (as I was now furious with Wal-Mart). But I also got a lot of other great deals, but I had to lay my stuff down and go fetch myself a buggy from outside so I didn't break my fingers. :rotfl2:

I also went to Dick's sporting goods and bought a gun that hubby wanted. Only problem is that they run back ground checks on guns and the verification place doesn't open until 8AM, so I have to go back for it today. But I did score a $20 gift card given to me by an associate.

Kohl's line was ridiculous. My MIL was in line so I ran and got the one thing that I wanted and handed it off to her.

I got my DS two tractors from TSC and a new blanket for his John Deere bedroom. It says "Daddy's Little Helper" and has an awesome farm scene on it with a JD tractor on it.

Can you believe that I went back to Wal-Mart? I was very unhappy to find out that the pallet of lcd tv's had found it's way to the front of the store and that I almost tripped over one that someone had just left in the middle of the floor in electronics.

All in all, I'm pleased with my purchases. I got my tree put up for our first year in our new home. I cleaned the garage and went shopping again last night at lowe's with hubby. And can you guess that I ended up back at Wal-Mart for the 3rd time!!!

Thanksgiving was a great time with family. Hope everyone had a good one too, and hope that I didn't bore you with my battle story. :rotfl:

Have a great weekend!!! :surfweb:
