May 5th 2007 Western Magic CINCO DIS MAYO!

Well at least I can relax a bit now. Ds found out that he would only miss three days and his professors are ok with that. Whew! Of course, they all want to come along, but at least they will allow him to make up the work! I hate having to get the ok from two different places, but this will be the last year I have to do that. 1. because ds will be graduating high school this year and will only be at college and 2. the next trip will just be dh and I...ds can stay home and take care of the dogs!

So, you all are stuck with us, we are coming on this cruise for sure! :)

Lisa

That is great news! Your DS sounds like a very intelligent young man. I'm sure you are so proud of him.

We are right above you in state room 7084. Anyone else close to us?

We are in 7126! I can't wait.

As for excursions. I keep changing my mind about excursions. When I booked in March, I figured we may not even get off the ship at a couple of the ports because DS would be too young to do most of the excursions - and he started that terrible two stage early. But 8 months later and he's like a different kid (we understand what he's saying now and he can follow directions most of the time). So now I'm trying to figure out what to do and who to book on our own. The DCL excursions seem to have age restrictions (like for the Stingrays in GC) but I noticed several tour companies that welcome toddlers.

Has there been any mention of an organized DIS get together once we board?

For the experienced DCL's are there any excursions that should be avoided? Also do people do multiple excursions on one day or is this way to much to do. There are so many that look like fun we just can't decide. We both want to do snorkling, swimming with stingrays and/or dolphins, parasailing, couples massage, I could go on and on...

We are in 7620.

Yeah...I finally made it back to my Jazzercise classes this week and I didn't die! It's hard though to get motivated to go. Like Tracy....I am dealing with the sinus problems too. The weather here has been so weird. It's back in the 80's again. We haven't had any real cool weather for a long time. Too bad I don't have time to get out in it and get a tan!

I am! He has really matured in the last year and taken on a lot of extra work. He is actually graduating from high school a year early! :cool1: That is why he is getting such a cool graduation gift (the cruise). :)

Most ports the time would not allow for multiple excursions. However, at CC you can usually book a morning massage, an afternoon parasail and possibly the stingrays.
As for excursions to avoid, just keep in mind ones that list "alot of walking" or "tender rides to mainland" (except in GC where we all tender), or any activities that are listed as high activity. I noticed most on this list have small children and there are some that may be too much for little ones. As in a lot of walking, alot of boat riding, standing or floating in deep water, etc. You can ask on the main cruise board about specific ones.

Ahhh. you got one of the other reclassifieds! We originally has 6134 and me being a dummy, lost that ressie and we had to go with 6116. :( I love the reclassified rooms...the veranda is so cool!

Sinuses are bad here too because we have had high winds for some time. Luckily we aren't getting the rain the west side of the state is getting slammed with. For those of you on here from Seattle and Portland, my prayers are with you...it sounds nasty over there! Floods, high winds (they even mentioned gale force), downed trees etc.

Lisa

I think we are in the broiler room 2...., :rotfl2: I can't remember! I don't care as long as I'm there. Besides, we seem to like that floor. I think because we are never in it!
Kimberly...you might have just as much fun just getting off the ship and walking around. Even Kaylin gets grumpy at the age of 9 (actually shes grumpy a lot!) so we have had a better experience doing that than taking the excursions. We seem to have more fun roaming around and being able to get back to the ship when we've had enough.
As for this real estate thing...I'm already getting a little frustrated :confused3 I'm thinking about retiring :teeth: ...you know a little shuffleboard, etc. etc....I'm just sayin' :rolleyes1

I was working part time and just quit two weeks ago. I worked for two women who are about as different as night as day. They were always fighting and I was always in the middle. I think I had less trouble with my three kids! Well for my own sanity, I quit and but I need to find something more to do besides read and play on the computer. Although, I am keeping on top of our coming cruise! :thumbsup2 Maybe I may even figure out how to make a door sign.

He'll love it. My parents gave me a cruise trip for spring break my senior year. I had such a great time.

For anyone who has been waiting patiently, Southwest has just listed their flights through 5/10/07. That doesn't help us with the return flights but they have some great deals for one-way flights down. Unfortunately, they don't have the internet special for the Non-Stop I need on May 4th. They do have it for May 3rd but DH can't swing the extra day off. If I didn't have a toddler the 1 stop one-way flight down for $49 + tax would be very very tempting. Guess I'll have to book Spirit and be happy with $592 total for the 3 of us round-trip! Anybody still waiting to book should check it out.

Hope yours is getting better. I ended up going to the dr yesterday and she gave me an antibiotic to go with my normal sinus allregy meds i take. i just hope i dont get this in the spring like i normally do. would hate top have to go cruising with this sinus stuff.

Tracy....12 hour sudafed helped today. Luckily it hasn't gotten bad enough to go to the doctor. I usually will lose my voice for 1-2 weeks also. This is the first year I didn't lose my voice at Halloween time. (the last five years I have been sick at Halloween).

Kimberly.... I was afraid to look at the southwest prices since I have already made my ressies with Delta and AA, but I did look and it wasn't much difference and theirs had 2 stops. Right now I have non-stop. So I am still a happy camper. Now if they go way down, I might not be so happy!

unfortunately i can't take some of that stuff as it makes my heart race. And if i don't watch my sinuses closely and get to the dr when they start getting into my throat and chest i end up with pnemonia so when my sinuses don't clear up with my normal sinus meds they give me within a week i have to go in for an antibiotic. i used to take sudafed sinus and allergy though and loved it till it made my heart race at work one day and they sent me home and dr told me never do that again..lol

I don't know about anyone else but i am getting antsy to do the rest of my prebooking that i can do online before the trip. have 2 more months to wait though.ugh..i would love to start packing right now too..thinking about finding me and hubby some pirate shirts..already got the kids set up on that.

Any of the 14-15 yr olds or in that age range interested in doing a penpal or email exchange with our 14 yr old boy?

As long as we are looking for pen pals, Madison said she would be very excited to "talk to someone like her (age 4 1/2, 5 at time of cruise) so they can be friends on the cruise". She is quite excited, she is so like me!
  Nana (Karen) and Madison two bananas from the bunch!

you know what do you all think of letting the younger ones( or even the older ones if they are interested) do a christmas card exchange? my daughter will only be 4 by time of the cruise so she might be a tad bit young for a penpal but she loves having me do the card exchanges as she loves getting mail from other little ones.

As much time as I spend on the computer you'd think I'd be better at letting my daughter write Kaylin, but I stink at this. I do promise to get better. So count us in on the penpal thing.

Courtney dd will be 9 and Dakota ds will be 4 at time of cruise.

The Christmas card trade would be fun too. Just let me know.

Karen
