May 5th 2007 Western Magic CINCO DIS MAYO!

Kimberly,
That picture of your son in your avatar is so cute! What a doll! :)
I love the little sailor suit. Enjoy this while they will still let you pick out their clothes! LOL Now, I just hand money to ds and tell him..go find something!
(and it is usually NOT what I would pick!)

I love cruise critic but the site is having serious problems with lag time and timing out - takes forever to turn a page or post. For whatever reason (probably because the DIS is far better for DCL) the Disney board isn't very active. I add some smileys over there by manually typing in the code like for wink I use semi-colon plus close parenthesis. There's probably an easier way but in almost 5 years, I've yet to figure it out:confused3

For the currency exchange - we aren't. We have to pay for our Sotos cruise in Grand Caymen in US dollars. I think our helicopter was billed to our credit card in advance, but I'll have to check that. The only thing we'll pay for is lunch and we can put that on a credit card to simplify matters. But from what I've found researching it US$ is widely accepted. Anyway i don't plan to shop there since they pretty much import everything but tortuga rum cakes (which my aunt has delivered to her every month and I just eat hers ;) ) so things cost more. Currency rates fluctuate but the Caymen Island Dollar is sort of tied to the US$. 1 USD = about 80 cents KYD or 1 Caymen Island Dollar = about 1.20 - 1.25 USD. Their money is worth more than ours.

For Cozumel, US cash is king.

Like Lisa said, there won't be any major language barriers. In GC the official language is English. In Cozumel, most of the cabbies speak better English than some NYC cabbies. Unless you go shopping off the beaten path there shouldn't be any problems. If you are going to PB,the owner is from Canada I think.

My niece's b-day is 4/7 - is that Amber's b-day too?

Yep amber's b-day is april 7th, also happens to be my best friends b-day too.:cool1:

ok that helps get that off my mind then on the exchange stuff and languages:thumbsup2 only shopping we would do is for a pin that says the port, magnets, thimbles, and spoons...these are collectors things for people here back home mainly and the pin is something we create a travel board with them once back home showing everywhere we went on that trip.

has anyone else had problems with logging on here? i log on and it says i am on but then will ask me for my name and password again. :confused3

I am ready for the cruise too. It was 96 degrees here today and spent the afternoon on MIL's patio (one of those fancy outdoor with TV and fireplace) looking out at their view over their very resort like pool and yard. Water too cold to swim though. Definately put me in vacation mode!

WOW, I was delighted that we hit 50. I had to drag out the spring jackets and convince Devin he didn't need his hat, scarf and gloves. Enjoy it!

Thanks so much. I bought it for semi-formal night so he wore it for Easter pics too. I'm trying to get my $$$'s worth.

I'll never forget Amber's B-day then! Is she turning 4 or 5?
I haven't had any log on problems. :confused3

I haven't had problems with being logged in, but its been so slow loading and I have DSL.

Great news! I got my shirts back today from the embroidery shop and they look great! I'm ready to go now. Can we leave yet?

I changed my vacation to actually start on the 3rd, so we will probably get there almost 2 days early. That leaves plenty of time for the beach and to visit family.

I set my screen saver at work to say x-days until my MUCH NEEDED vacation! :rotfl2:

We got to 70 today and 75 tomorrow, but snow this weekend :confused3 Whats up with that? By no means do I want 98, but mid 70's would be nice.

I hear you! I am "double dipping" the dress I am wearing to neice's wedding! I am going to wear it to formal night to "break it in". :rotfl:

It's hard with the little ones because they outgrow things so fast. I am telling you though, when they get to a certain age, the clothes wear out before they outgrow them!

Lisa (no problems logging on, but board is loading slooooooowwwwww)

(are we there yet? are we huh huh?)

Well the weather dropped sharply here today. It was only 94!:rotfl2: If this is winter, I so want to be somewhere else come summer!
I have been shopping for Madison's birthday on the 23rd. Of course, with the cruise in mind!;) I got her 2 Disney bathings suits and a Tinkerbelle cover up. Shorts, tops, a few summer dresses and yesterday I found a pink Body Glove snorkel set!
OOOHH and guess what? My girlfriend and I signed up for a 3 night scrapbooking cruise in September! It just goes down to Ensanada and back, and we could care less about getting off there. But to have my room taken care of and be fed without having to cook or clean up for a few days sounded fun! They said there is a designated area for us to just leave our stuff out and not have to schlepp it back and forth to the room. We scrap whatever we want all day and if we want there are classes at night and goodie bags!! It's on RCCL and we are excited! Now I have yet another thing to wait for! Maybe I will be ready to be working on our Disney Cruise!!!

I hear ya Karen. It was a beautiful day here too today. 98 in the front yard, and 82 in the backyard in the shade!

I saw that scrap cruise advertised at my LSS. I so would love to take it, but don't think DH would want me too. Well...can't really book anything else til I get another job. I'm enjoying unemployment right now. This is my week for jury duty, but they haven't called my number yet. I'm so glad because I want to enjoy this weather while it's here!

Madison's going to be one cute little cruiser!

I'll never forget Amber's B-day then! Is she turning 4 or 5?
I haven't had any log on problems. :confused3

she is turning 4..we are heading to the party supply store this weekend to get some princess stuff and maybe to portrait inovations for her 4 yr b-day pics.

ok maybe it's just my computer being a pain in the butt for me again.:rotfl2:

not that warm yet around here but if i heard the radio correctly it said high of 72 today 62 and rain tomorrow but not complaining..my sinus stuff is going away faster with this warmer weather coming in. :cool1: and oh how the days are flying by now with the time change here..:rotfl2: or maybe its me fighting to get caught up on the hour lost:rotfl2: either way i am liking that work isn't dragging out like the last couple of weeks have been.

:goodvibes I am so excited that we finally got our plans and are planning on making this May 5, 7 night trip. We will be celebrating my DS 7th birthday on this trip. I will be traving (31) pirate: DH (34):bday: DS (7) princess: DD (4)
I am looking forward to having ALOT of fun, this is our first Disney cruise, what a way to start!!

Welcome Seeboo! My name is Karen and I will be on my first Disney cruise with my DH, Bob and our DGD, Madison who will be 5 in 10 days!!
I am not sure how much of this thread you have read. On page 1 , message 15 you will see a list of people that have come through. Some have left, some we can't get rid of!:lmao: The names in green are some of us that have been here awhile and are looking forward to meeting on the ship. Some of us have a trip to Paradise Beach planned in Cozumel instead of an excursion. We are sharing tips and just day to day messages to keep in touch. You are more than welcome, we would love to get to know you. We really are a friendly bunch and there are at least a couple of little girls your daughter's age. My Madison is just truning 5, Tracy's DD Amber will soon be 4.
So pop in any time. Tell us your name and a little about you and you family.
Any let us know if you are as crazy excited as we are!! :dance3: :yay:
Karen

welcome seeboo and family.

Someone help me please I am absolutely freaked over what to wear for formal night, I dont own a dress and have been looking everywhere the best I can find is around $100.00. Any one have pics of what they are wearing. This is my only stress for the cruise and I wont relax until I find something to wear.TIA

Sherrie,
It is hard to find an evening gown much under $100. I was lucky several years ago and found one on clearance for $50. But I am really getting tired of seeing it in all my formal pictures!:rotfl2: I tried one on about a week ago, that I love, it's beautiful, but it is $176. This weekend Macys is having a sale and I was hoping it might be on a good sale, because I also got an extra 20% coupon in the mail for being an account holder. That would be the only way I would buy it.

I didn't mean to hit submit yet.:rotfl: I know that wasn't much help. The last 3 cruises I went on, people were quite dressed up. I am not sure if the Disney cruise is the same or what. Maybe someone will chime in here. I just have a hard time finding dresses to fit my particular Rubenesque figure any way.:lmao:

Karen is it a long gown that you are looking for, I was at Macy's last week and saw nothing fancy at all, perhaps I was just looking in the wrong area, I have tons of gift cards for macy's maybe I will go back again this weekend. We also have a dress barn here that I have several gift cards for, havent been there yet.All I am finding are slinky jersey dresses for a younger thinner person than myself, I am a 12 but these 12;s look as if they wouldnt fit over one leg, I even tried prom dress dept.s at the local mall, the price doesnt bother me as much if i really love the dress/outfit, Maybe I willend up opting for a skirt and matching top, thanks for your input

Our Macy's has tons of evening gowns right now. For women, not prom dresses. I was surprised too. They usually only have this selection close to New Years. Good luck!

Sorry everyone for falling off the face of the earth. We have had to cancel our trip and I have just been too depressed to really be on here now. I am going to miss out on so much fun and miss meeting all of you. We are hoping to go on one of the Mexican Riviera cruises but it is still up in the air. I hope everyone has a wonderful safe and fun trip. I want to hear all about it when you get back, so there better be some trip reports.

Take care, Kandace
:sad1:

As for formal wear .welll i bought a nice dressy blouse on the clearance rack and will wear that with a black skirt i can finally fit my butt back into...:rotfl2: for pirate nite i found myself a kind of long nice casual black and white striped shirt and will wear that with some black dress jeans or pants. maybe even a skirt but with us going to the deck thing after we eat more then likely it will be pants so i can wear my more comfy shoes. the semi formal nite i am not sure yet..i will hunt thru my closet and see what else i have i did buy some other nice blouses on clearance i could use just not sure which one will win me over yet. :lmao:

i bought our pepsi and water today since it was on sale so will get to play around with the suitcase and see how i am going to get it all packed up..:rotfl: getting overly anxious now. :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:
