Since this was my first Disney cruise and therefore my first attempt at a cruise report, I'll try to do the trip justice.
CAST: Myself, DH, DD (10) and DS (7) turned seven on embarkation day!
We left Boston on Friday 11:30 and arrived without problems in MCO at 2:30ish. We flew Delta. My DH had arranged for a limo to pick us up at the house so when the kids were expecting a cab to pull up and a white stretch does instead, well there was quite a bit of excitement! After reviewing some recomendations on these boards I went with Cartier Towncar, and was not dissapointed. Ali was right at baggage claim waiting for us with a sign. I had suprised everyone by getting a limo too, he had a really great price and I figured what I would have paid with transfers, it was almost the same. The limo was spotless, and he had some cold sodas on ice for us. Boy what a way to start a vacation, two limo rides in one day! I needed to make a stop for some wine (afterall this is the Wine-o Cruise). Ali wasn't sure where to bring me, but he inquired and found a real nice wine and spirits place only a few blocks from the Radisson. The room in the Radisson was great, but I guess I didn't really know what I reserved. I thought the Jacuzzi suite had a room with a bed and another room with a king bed and jacuzzi. It was actually a pull out couch, kichenette with a room with a king bed & jacuzzi. Not a problem the kids doubled up on the sofa, they were so excited about the jacuzzi tub they didn't want to change rooms.
Off to the pool for the first of several Dis meets.
Amanda very quickly meets Chelsea, and we tentatively make our way over to meet the other Dis-ers that we had been "talking" with for the past month. Well everyone was just so nice and we had a great time sharing a few cocktails and wondering about other members and if we would get to meet everyone. I will try and remember who was there; Keith & Co., Pam, WDWfan11, Savs and Northernmouse.
We decided to just to the fish fry buffet at the hotel for dinner, which was pretty good. Kids ate free, adults were $15pp. Then when back and had a turn in the jacuzzi, I gotta get one of those.
We ended up taking a cab from the hotel because the only shuttle time I could get was 12:20pm, and I didn't want to get to the port that late for $10.00 it was well worth it. We had to wait in line for about 45 min. it seems people just don't have their act together, they were still filling out forms etc. But by the time we got out of that line, we were able to just walk on board the ship. We were told to head up to Deck 9 for lunch we said ok, then went down the stairs to drop our carry-ons we had Room 2610 and loved it so convenient to the stairs and dining rooms. Up to the buffet, salmon and mango soup were delicious! Now the ressie scramble. I head to Palo first, leave my card, wait my turn as times are booking up and being removed, I started to get a bit stressed at this point. I finally get called and book dinner for the night and time I want (Wed 7:30) , whew! Then to the spa, I didn't do the demo but walked all the way through to the end and got my reservations, spa taster (Tues 4pm). Now I can relax!
Off to the sail away party and some frosty fruity drinks!!!
We had early dinner which made us feel rushed to get ready for dinner every night, but late would have been way to late for my crew we were ready for beb by 10 several nights. Our rotation was LAPLAPL which was fine, I think any rotation would be fine. Dinner was great, they made a big deal of Kevin's birthday although he continued to tell everyone he saw that day, so there is no way they could have missed it. Our team was Mario/Phillipines and Erwin/St.vincent they were good, not spectacular but they had a large pary 14 as there other table. We had our own table of 4, would have been nice to meet others but it worked out very nice for us and we got a chance to chat with eachother, which we don't always get to do. We did make it to the Welcome Aboard show and never made it to a show again. Stopped in Studio Sea for a nightcap. Tri (the waitress) made Kevin a special chocolate smoothie for his birthday, she was a sweetheart and we tended to make a stop in there most nights to get a beer to bring back to room with us while Kevin crashed.
I see I'm getting a bit lenghty so I will stop here and try to make my comments more concise.
