May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

Hi from UK! :wave2:

Just catching up with how everyone is doing

Great name guys! A true group effort

And brilliant door signs are being produced

Wasn't going to bother, but now think perhaps I should. How do you stick them on to the doors?

UK still cold frosty grey and glum and my work schedule is in overload at present. So cruise planning is very therapeutic for stress, we just can't wait. Anyone else have this compulsion every Sat to be glued to the PC at around 4pm (9pm my time) to watch the Magic sailing on her way via the webcams? How sad am I?!

Regards
Lyn

We love making our door signs! We use magnetic tape but can't wait to hear from Timster about the magnetic tape he mentioned! I put up a new door sign every day and add to the previous days. The girls like it (as do I) because we can find our room easier! The girls think Mickey, Minnie or Tink put them on the door!

What webcam do you look at to see the ship? I can't even keep straight what days it comes in on! I know Saturday around 6ish. What other days? I might just have to take a peek!:yay:

Hey Bobbi!

I think June sounds good. I hate not having the time to relax a little before and after the trip. But, that is just me! I also hate missing holidays and family things at home.

Anyway, we are doing the same thing! My mom and sister have never been on a cruise or to WDW. They hear us raving about it all the time and so we have decided to do the Land & Sea thing too in Feb! I'm super excited because my sister has Downs Syndrome and always talks about going to Hawaii and loves Disney stuff. We are going to do the Luau for her birthday at the Poly. We are beside ourself excited and now we have something to book on board!!!!!!!! :wizard:

The only thing is that I am worried that my commando theme park style will wear them out!!!!!!!! My mom will be 69.

Re the Webcams :yay:
The two I have watched are:
the Port Canaveral one http://www.portcanaveral.org/webcam.htm

followed by the twopalms one, http://www.twopalms.com/

You can track the Disney ships here: http://www.cruisecal.com/portal/default.aspx

So you can see the sailing in port and out of port times.

We have watched the Magic go past the two palms the last two Saturdays, keep checking and refreshing and be patient!

On other boards/threads there are references to other webcams
Ronjons http://www.ronjonresort.com/WebCam.htm

and Radison at the port http://opusad.com/radissonwebcam/

but I haven't got on too well with those

Coincidentally someone started similar thread on main forum, here
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1733660

Have fun!
Not fair, we have to wait an extra 5 hours to see!

Hi! It dispenses like scotch tape? I have some that's thicker and comes in a roll and then you cut it with scissors. Is it in a container like scotch tape? Wow...this would be lighter than theroll magnetic tape. Gotta think of every pound when packing!!:lmao: What brand is it and what store did you buy it at?

It's in a container just like scotch tape - with the little cutter right on it that use use to cut the size piece you need. It comes on a role that is 3/4" wide and 120" long. It's a little thicker than scotch tape but not thick enough that you need to use scissors. I had him get it at AC Moore here in MA. I can't remember if they have those in CA. It is made by Nicole Crafts (NicoleCrafts.com).

Thanks for the feedback! DS5 is pretty high intensity, so we thought a trip to WDW might be a bit too stimulating for him before now, but he's getting much better at keeping it together on day trips and such, so we thought next year we'd be able to give it a try.

Thanks! I looked it up online at Nicole's crafts but it's not on there. We don't have AC Moore here but I'm going to check Michael's and Joann's here. Any idea if they have it at either one of those places?

You saved me 5 pounds in my luggage! Thanks!:cool1:

Weird that it isn't listed on the Nicole's crafts website??? I'm not sure about Michaels or Joann's. I did go to the AC Moore website however and find two other makers of the same product. Try going to the ACMoore website and search on product no. 157100 and 254265.

Hope this helps!

Bobbi, are you an English teacher? I am certified to teach English in NJ, grades 7-12, but I don't teach now. I did my student teaching, but never found a full time job after graduation. :upsidedow

I think am going to see if I can sucker my mom into making a fish extender for me. She is really crafty and would be good at that if I got her the material I wanted. I, unfortunately, inherited none of her genes, and have been known to call her on my way to work to ask her if she can sew a button on a blouse that I am wearing while she does it. :rolleyes1 Both my brother and his wife and my cousin and his wife are expecting their first kids in July though, and she's busy with lots of baby stuff, so we'll see if she's up to doing this for her child who hasn't given her grandchildren yet ....

Only 66 more days or so!

Where is everyone staying the night before the cruise? Or are some of you brave enough to fly in the morning of?

We are in a 2 BR suite at the Residence Inn the night before. I can't believe that we are only a mere 66 days away!!

Linda

My family of 4 will be on this cruise and we cannot wait. My daughter will turn 5 during the cruise. We are also spending the evening before at the Residence Inn.

It has been 4 1/2 years since our last cruise.

Welcome!!

There is quite a big group of us and there are bunches of 5 year olds....mostly boys though.

Glad you are part of our thread.

Linda

Hi Linda. Where is the Residence Inn? Is that near the airport or the parks or the port?

It is very near to the Port. We are driving down and believe it or not.....not doing the parks.

Linda

We are working all day on Friday, booting it over to the airport and flying in the night before. We arrive at 11 pm on Friday night and will be staying at the Hyatt in the airport. Is anyone else "in the same boat"? :rotfl:

Goodness! Two taurean secondary English teachers! God protect the rest of the group from us! I taught middle and high school English and Drama for twelve years, but I've been home for the last three years raising my son. As he will be starting kindergarten this fall, I too will be returning to the classroom. I've already interviewed with my local board of ed, so now I'm waiting for specific positions to come open in the schools.

I'm still going around about the fish extenders. I suppose I can make one using that iron on seam mender stuff! I'll have to look into it.

Ooops! Posted too soon! We are driving down, stopping at a resort in Myrtle Beach for two nights, then continuing on to the Country Inns and Suites the night before where we have a kid's quarters suite. Our friend jdabi, who hasn't been on the board that much lately, will be flying in that morning and arriving at MCO at 10:30 AM.

Welcome sgtpet! My DS is one of the aforementions 5 yo boys, and the above referenced jdabi has a DS who will be turning 5 on the cruise, just like your DD! :cake:

Our paper chain is looking pretty small now! :cool1: We had it wrapped around two banisters when I made it, but now it isn't even halfway between them. Very nice! :thumbsup2 We're using it to teach spellings of days of the week and dates, and it seems to be working at times. We don't do it every day, so when Fiona takes off the current day, she tends to be unlinking 3 or 4 days, which gives a sense of accomplishment! :thumbsup2

We'll be coming in the day before and staying at Country Inn & Suites in a kid's suite, too.

:wave2:

This trip we decided to do Universal before hand, and we will be at the Hard Rock Hotel for 5 nights and over my birthday. We've always managed to postpone my birthday celebration by a few days, and this is the first time we'll be on vacation on my actual birthday. It's the little things ....

We are doing a Royal Caribbean cruise in August for my parents 60th birthdays, and that too leaves out of PC, so I was selfishly looking for ideas of where to stay the night before for that trip. :flower3: My parents don't really do the parks. Well, my mom would. My dad would desperately be looking for a golf buddy. :rolleyes1

Bobbi, have fun returning to the classroom! I've thought about it several times, but now I'm afraid I don't remember the difference between Keating and Longfellow at this point (gulp, it has been THAT long!).
