May 3rd-10th****Dis Maytees-May Magic send off

Well, my dh finally got the suitcases down this evening. I will be in gathering mode the next couple of days and do the final pack on Thursday. I took the day off work and will have the house to myself. :thumbsup2 Our airport shuttle is picking us up at 4:15 Thurs evening and then we will go to an airport hotel for the night and fly out Friday morn.

As for Palo, we have pirate night at 7:30 booked. I am going to try for brunch as soon as I board.

How did anyone book High Tea at Palo? I went on 90 days out and it was already closed. I barely got ressie's for brunch and dinner for the 4 of us! Can't wait till Saturday to board the Magic!!!pirate:

What is everyone doing in KeyWest?? We do not have any plans except to just walk around. Later on in afternoon we might take the kids to camp and go get a few drinks:)

I got so much done today:

A fellow Disner mailed me a gourgous fish extender and I decorated it today. It looks really nice.
FE bags done! (they came out so cute, my daughter made them.)
I bought a folding laundrey bag and a over the door shoe holder.
Got my door signs laminated BUT the magnetic tape would not stick so I have to get crazy glue.
Purchased snorkle gear for my husband and I (Kids had it already) so we can snorkle at all of our stops except KW.

Getting so excited!

Heather

Doesn't it feel good getting stuff done? I got so much done yesterday, as well! I zipped up DS's cruise suitcase and put it on the landing, and I think my cruise suitcase is done, too! :thumbsup2 Since we're doing Wed. and Thur. nights in Myrtle Beach and Friday night at the port, I just packed a separate suitcase for me and DS that we'll leave in the car when we get on the ship.

We're going to walk around in Key West with stops first at the Aquarium, then we'll head south to the Butterfly Conservatory and Southernmost Point with stops to get conch fritters and chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick along the way. :cool1:

For all purposes, I leave tomorrow...but just me...for the business trip in Orlando (ugh)...So, I am 99% packed. DH still has a little bit to go, but we're mostly done. Got 2 of the suitcases in the hall already and the suitbag is hanging in the hall too.

Got my pedicure done this evening and my eyebrows waxed. Never get manicures, but am going to get one on the ship...what the heck! :)

So, I might (if I'm not too exhausted) sign on Thursday night after I get home from my business trip, but if not...I look forward to meeting all of you on Saturday. WHOO HOO!!! :) :rotfl: :cool1: :woohoo:

Dawn McG

If you check back in before leaving, have a great time, Dawn!! I'm looking forward to meeting you on Saturday, and I can't wait for my 5 yo to meet your 5 yos. I keep telling him about the brother and sister he will meet on the Mickey boat who are both five like him! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Are we excited yet?

Sorry, I haven't been posting much lately... I've been running around like a chicken with her head cut off! I'm sure I'm not the only one! :rotfl: But I have been lurking and somewhat keeping up with our group. Does anyone have the final list of our group with names & cabin numbers and fish extender info? Or can you tell me which page to find it on?

Many thanks!
Karen :cloud9:

Linda: No call from DCL regarding food allergies yet.

DAKfever: You book things that fill up the fastest first, and you sign on immediately at 12:00:01 am Eastern Daylight Saving time of the day your window opens up. Therefore, I got high tea, then brunch, then dinner at Palo's, then my excursions as needed. If you're booking Flounder's, book Flounders then your excursions. Spa treatments come last.

Hope that helps for your next cruise! :thumbsup2

You are definitely the only one! I have been doing laundry (and ironing) more than I usually ever do! I also have lots of little errands to run like picking up clothing that was sent in for alterations... and also my mani/pedi tomorrow. :goodvibes

I'm also waiting for my mom to bring me another suitcase on Thursday, so we have clothing in neat piles together with suitcases spread around our bedroom. Our dog keeps sniffing around, she knows something is up!

One thing I'm a little concerned about is packing makeup with all of the new carry on laws. I think I'm going to have to divide some in my purse and some in the suitcase because some are liquid.... same with deodorant... should I just go buy the little travel sizes?!! :confused3 I usually don't get those.

 I growled at my husband this morning because he grabbed a pair of Fiona's pants I planned to pack for her to wear today.

misslissa, explain a bit more about your worry about your make-up and your deodorant, please ma'am. I can count liquid foundation, mascara, concealer, lip gloss, and liquid deodorant... I would think you could get what you'd wear in a day in a quart bag for the X-ray machine, and the rest would go in your luggage. Stick lipstick, powder, and stick deodorant would be fine and wouldn't need to go in the quart bag; it's just liquids they worry about. Your medicines go in a separate quart bag (if they can fit) and are declared separately.

What am I missing? :confused3

Containers of liquids can be no larger than 3 oz. and, as you said, must be sealed in a ziploc bag. I believe that's the long and short of it, but of course, we can't fly! :confused3

ok so I'm in the hotel room killing time until we go to either CITY WALK or Downtown Disney. Guess which one I vote for??? :) and shocker of shocker...because I'm not on the official company proxy, I can GET to this site without getting the warning messages...

Brandie-Honestly, I only packed a carryon, my laptop and a small purse so nothing to leave. :) What time do we want to try to hook up on Saturday to go get your dinner (hopefully) changed?

Bobbi-Looking forward to meeting your little one (and all the others from the boards) too! I think the kids will have LOTS of company in OC this year!

Ciao...Dawn McG

Hmmmmmmm....... Ok. I'm just wondering about deodorant because it is normal size. And, from what I know... at least in Canada, the items in your carry on must be less than 100 ml or 3 oz. I have a feeling that my deodorant is bigger?! LOL... what a weird topic of conversation. :rotfl:

I just got to Bobbi's post... I guess I'm going to have to figure out the exact conversion of my deodorant... LOL.

Brandie,

No call for us yet either. I am NOT going to lose hope......and may just have to dash to the Rockin D Bar to get it all straightened out if I can.

See you on Saturday!

Linda

Dawn, I'll give you a call as soon as I get in the DCL lobby. I have every intention of herding my cats into the port as soon after breakfast as possible, but that will take their cooperation. :headache: We're coming from Country Inn and Suites and only have to return the rental car in the morning.

So I have myself in a devil of a predicament. My good friend called me desperate, looking for a babysitter to watch her possibly sick baby. I, of course, said sure! :thumbsup2 Baby might have norovirus, because it is going around his classroom. *head slap* So she's going to keep an eye on him tonight to see if the nasty diapers were just because something he ate, or something more serious. I'm hoping it is something he ate. *crossing fingers* If it is something more serious, I told her I can't keep him, because we're about to get on the boat. :sad1: Bear in mind, her toddler is my toddler's best friend, so I'm not understanding how the girls haven't already gotten it, if it is norovirus!

Rock -> me <- hard place and that looks good versus her position!

Ok, I was one of those headless chickens today so frequently mentioned on this thread over the past 24 hours. At least I was forced to relax for about an hour for my nails! :)

At any rate, I think I'm all packed except for my last minute toiletries in the morning. How about this for a militant DIS mommy...I stopped at the grocery before picking up DS at school to get drink boxes of Yoohoo, so DS can have chocolate milk in the car, and I don't have to worry about proper refrigeration. When I get home, I can't find it! I check my receipt, and I was charged for it, but it never made it in the bag. I call the store, and they say, "Sure, bring your receipt back in and come get it!" :scared1: Well, the headless chicken in me starts freaking, so I ask for a manager, explain their oversight and my busy state "...leaving for vacation in the morning, blah, blah, blah...and could you PLEASE deliver it?" Sure enough, in an hour, there is the manager at my door with the 10-pack of Yoohoo! :woohoo:

I guess I'll sign off in the morning! Have a great night, all.

:rotfl: That is priceless. We had this done once with a lost Chinese food takeout order... but the grocery store is definitely a new one!!!!!!!

I've been very remiss in posting, but we're still joining all of you this weekend. Work has just been so hectic over the past few months. I haven't even been keeping up with personal email, much less DISBoard posts. :(

This vacation couldn't really come any sooner. After a week-long conference, we're going straight to the airport from work on Friday evening.

But no more sad faces! I hope everyone has a wonderful time!!!

Is there a time and/or place where all us crazy DISboarders meet on the ship? We're new to this fun!pirate:

Hey, DAKfever, and Welcome Back, NejTheLion!

I posted this a few pages back for newcomers, but there's still time to get the info out! Hope to see you all at the Promenade Lounge meet! :)

I was surprised when Leia's Mom posted that she didn't know about the first day meet! So I thought it would be a good idea to post some info a final time to make sure newcomers are up-to-speed...

1. We've planned to meet on embarkation day at 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge to get to know one another and introduce the kids.

2. We're trying to wear green wristbands to identify ourselves as DISers, so we can recognize one another (especially those who can't make the meet!).

3. CruisinEars is compiling a roster of DIS cruisers. If you'd like to be included, pm her with the names and ages of those in your party, where you're from, your stateroom number, and if you are participation in Fish Extenders.

4. If you want to participate in the Fish Extenders gift exchange, it might be crunched for time to get it done at this point, but post your intentions, pm Leia's Mom, and we will include you!

5. If anyone will be in Cape Canaveral on Friday evening and is interested in meeting up for dinner at Grills, let me know and I will call in our party in advance.

See you in NINE DAYS!! :thumbsup2

HA, HA! Make that THREE DAYS!!!! :dance3:

Hi guys! We are headed to FL in 3 hours!!:cool1: :cool1: I am so tired and will get a few hours of sleep. I don't have time to find the list of cruisers. Can someone copy and paste it into a new post or tell me where the post is? I will try to print it at the hotel.

Thanks!

Can't wait to meet everyone on Saturday! Everyone drive/fly safely!!

Kym
