May 31, 2014 Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Meet thread!

I sent a friend request to Jason this morning. We currently are PIF for the cruise, but still trying to decide between this one and New Years Eve. It would be me, my husband, DS (13) and DD (11). I am interested in doing the FE, but I did not locate the info yet. We have had this cruise booked since we went on the Magic last February. This would mark our first cruise as gold members of CC.

Tough decision. But most of us are biased towards this one ;).

Pretty sure I got you added to the FB page. Get Kayla your info for the FE. It doesn't close until the 28th so there's time and as long as she gets your info before then I'm sure you'll be set. We have a great group of disboarders active on the FB page!

If I wait for possible vgt will it be too late for the FE we already have our gifts ... :)

This is only my 2nd cruise, so I am not sure what you mean exactly by "possible VGT." Sign-ups for the FE exchange close Feb. 28. It is possible that folks who join after that will organize another, but not guaranteed. I hope that answers your question... :goodvibes

The final sign up date for the FE is coming up close, if you'd like to join, please, send me a message with your information:
Names
Ages of Kids
Celebrations or Allergies
How many households there are in each room.

You can send this information to me on here or on facebook. I will most likely see it sooner on facebook.

And stateroom number. Kayla needs your stateroom number!

There will be a pre-cruise meet on Friday night before the cruise in Cocoa Beach. It is outside of the Ron Jon Surf Shop at 8pm. Bring your own drinks. JnDRader organized this.

There has been talk of a similar meet at DTD on Friday for those who are staying in Orlando the night before the cruise, but as far as I know nothing has been finalized.

Thanks for posting this here. I frequently forget to post relevant info on both locations :goodvibes .

We will be going on this cruise...I'm curious is there is a fish extender group set up for it yet? I cannot find it if there is!!! Anyone know? And how do I join it?

Thank you!!!

There is an FE group set up! It is primarily operated on our Facebook page, but you can message Princess_Kayla here as well (if you prefer). She is organizing it for the cruise.

Hello! I can't believe that we are going on our 7th Disney cruise and this is the first time I have heard about FE. I have always wondered what those cool things that were hanging from the fish on the staterooms. I just assumed they were large families that exchanged gifts. I learned about this recently from my dentist. I hope I am not too late to join. I have a 12yo daughter and a 14yo son going on the trip. I sent a Facebook request this morning to JnDRader.

This will be our 3rd cruise on the Fantasy. We sailed the same week on the same itinerary in 2012 & 2013.

I know what I will be doing today - catching up on the thread:-) I am getting so excited and I am only on page 10. It is bringing back all the excitement of our first cruise where I lived on a message board learning as much as I could before our cruise. In the process, I meet my best Disney friend 10 years ago.

Hello! I don't have enough posts to send a PM yet, if you have bracelets, I would like 3 (my DH won't wear one).

My DH and I really enjoy the different beverage tastings. We did the mixology one last cruise and really liked it. It is well worth the money. We also really enjoyed the martini tasting and tend to do that one on each cruise. I heard the Italian Liqueurs one was good (I think they also call it something else starting with an A). I just went through my old Navigators to see if I could find the name of it and I couldn't. I hope to sign up for that one this cruise. If you are interested in signing up for tastings, they have offer signups on the first day while at port. They fill up fast. If you wait until the day off the offering, they are usually full. We go to The Tube every night for the adult shows but don't usually go to the different bars. Doing different tastings have been a fun way to experience the various amazing venues.

Please put us on the waitlist for the private mixology. Once I have enough PM's to send a message, I will send you our information.

Thanks!

To those of you cruising for the first time on DCL with no children, you will love it! Congrats to "oferiniowa" on your anniversary:-) I bet your kids aren't happy they are being left home while mom and dad are off on DISNEY cruise - LOL:-) We took our first cruise 10 years ago. We had no idea if we would like cruising. Since our kids were younger then, we left them home with Grandma and Grandpa. We LOVED the cruise! Our friends who don't understand why we love Disney so much thought we were crazy going on a Disney cruise without our kids. It was the best trip. There is so much for adults to do on the cruise. Our personal favorites are the Rainforest package at the spa and dinner at Palo. We have never taken a non-Disney cruise so we can't compare it to anything else. All we can say is we are hooked on the Disney quality:-)

This will be our 4th time doing the Eastern Itinerary. We love the extra days at sea. My DH and I did the 12 Metre Regatta only because the original excursion we signed up for was cancelled at the last minute. We were very happy how it all worked out - we really enjoyed it. When we went 2 years ago, our son was old enough so my DH and son went while my daughter and I stayed on the ship and took pictures of them. They had the early excursion so we stayed on board for awhile and then her and I took the island tour. On the island tour, we didn't stop at any beaches so we didn't have to deal with explaining the optional clothing issue. We didn't see anything from the bus.

Since our daughter is old enough this year, we will all do it. My DH is booking it right now since we are Gold Castaway members. It is only offered once at 10am. I think in the past, there was more than one option. It is $99 per person. We were wondering if we could book the excursion on our own but when I went to their site, they recommended booking it directly through the cruise line. If there is enough interest, we could see about booking it as a private group.

St. Thomas Excursions - On our first trip to St. Thomas, my DH and I did the St. John Eco Hike. The boat ride to St. John was beautiful. We were with a very small group and it was an all day excursion. Personally, we enjoy shorter excursions and having extra time on the ship when it is less crowded. We don't regret doing it but we wouldn't do it again. The best part of that excursion is that one of the Imagineers from Disney was on that cruise as a guest speaker and we had plenty of time to chat with him and his wife. My mom took my son a few years later and they did the St. John Island Tour which looked more interesting from her pictures. I may also be biased because we lived in Wisconsin at the time and I enjoyed the hiking in Door County better.

The first time we went with the kids, we did the Doubloon Turtle Cove Sail & Snorkel excursion. We were with other families who were doing this for their 2nd time because they loved it the first time. Unfortunately, the day we went, the water was very rough and many people on the boat got sick and the water was stirred up so it was hard seeing in the water when snorkeling. Our family would have enjoyed the rough waters but I personally almost got sick because of the people around us. By the end, it was hard to sit somewhere else to avoid the others who weren't doing well. I have a week stomach when others are throwing up.

Last year we decided not to book many excursions which worked out well. But, the one the kids really wanted to do was the Screaming Eagle Jet Boat. It was a fun short excursion. Definitely pack cheap sunglasses for that excursion. Between the saltwater ruining good glasses and the risk of them flying off, you will want cheap ones. If you don't have any, they do sell them on the excursion. We did want to do the Skyride to Paradise Point but it was closed. I never checked out why it was closed. Hopefully, it will be open this year.
