May 30th, 2015 - Fantasy Western Carribean

My wife and I will be on this cruise. We booked late as we were able to take advantage of a great military discount for this cruise. This will be the first cruise for both of us. We are leaving the kids at home for this trip and will be celebrating my wife's 30th birthday. I know it's too late to join the FE, but is the group doing anything else special on this cruise. Since we've never cruised before I don't really know what to plan.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the info. We are looking forward to our first cruise! If someone drops out of one of the mixology classes please keep us in mind.

It certainly was a great military rate. I wanted to cruise but had given up the idea of a cruise at the end of May because prices were just too high until I saw the military rate.

We have never cruised, but to get the 2 of us for $1600 in a 5A stateroom was fantastic! We just couldn't pass it up! Hopefully it will be a good time for us to get away without the kids!

We booked the same deal but added the insurance as well. This is the third time we're going on the fantasy and each time it was due to great military rates. We have been on many cruises and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hey Wayne, i am retired AF. we will be staying in disneyworld the four days before the cruise, maybe we could get together on board and have a coffee and chat. Wayne and Lyn
Hey guys, also retired military (submarines). Would love to share a chat or two onboard. 3 weeks to go!

I know there are standup paddleboards at castaway cay. Does anyone know where the rental stand is? We are going to serenity bay and I would prefer to SUP off the beach there and not from the family beach.

I get tortured again tomorrow as I have to work at Cape Canaveral AFS Tower which requires me to drive by Port Canaveral on my way to the tower and then when I leave. I think the Dream is in port and I saw the Dream earlier this week and envisioned myself sloshing and sliding through the aquaduck. I certainly cannot say the days are creeping by because they are zooming! I am way busy at work and best of all, it is pool season so the day ends with a relaxing floating in the pool.

Anyone interested in dining on the cruise? we have a table for 8, there two couples so far. If your interested let us know.

Hi All!

This is our second Disney cruise. We discovered the Fish Extenders on our first cruise, but I guess I should have looked earlier for this group - apparently this is one of those "insider" things that "the rest of us" just don't get to know. :)

Not to fear! Michelle and I will, indeed, create a Fish Extender, and have a plethora of gifts, available to anyone who wants them! Please, come enjoy: Stateroom 10566.

I suppose we will wander the ship to find the others as well. :)

Nothing 'insider' about it, it's just a matter of finding the right spot to get info. I was in the same spot on our first cruise in 2013. In my search about info on DCL, I ran across this site and FE, then started to read all about them. If you read some of the earlier posts, you know we are having a meet and greet on embarkation day. Stop by and say hello. The FE lists will be there and maybe you can chat with a few that have extra gifts.

1 week to go! YEAH!!!! I purchased Trisha and I annual passes to WDW and I intend on talking her into a meet and greet with Mickey (or Capt Jack Sparrow which would really make her day) and having the character give her the passes. We are fortunate in that it takes right at one hour to get in the car and enter the WDW park of our choice.

We probably will not make it to the pre-cruise meeting as I am now scheduled to work and I don't expect that to change. It really sucks sometimes being the fill-in guy when people take vacation. When and where is the meet and greet on cruise day? I think someone scheduled a few mixology classes on cruise day and in-between was the meet and greet. We might make that but you can expect to see us in our tie-dyed t-shirts we made ourselves for the cruise. They really turned out great!

I hope everyone has a peaceful memorial day.

Looks like we'll have rain on the port days. As a newbie cruiser, some questions: what's inclement weather usually like in the Caribbean this time of year? A few sprinkles on and off, or torrential rain? Anything likely to be cancelled?

Thanks. :D

The weather is too unpredictable to know what the day holds. We've been on 23 or so cruises and I can only think of a few days when rain lasted more than 15 minutes. Rough seas / winds might cause cancellations of water activities but I doubt rain will cause cancellations. We bring no rain gear or umbrellas. Consider it liquid sunshine!

GatorWayne, precisely the information I was hoping for. Thanks so much!
