May 30, 2009 - Western Cruise Magic

For those who are going to stay at WDW prior to the cruise, there are discounts available now. I just booked my room at a value for 5/28-5/30 and saved $106! It's available for booking online and it's for all resort levels.

OK gang....I don't know how much interest there is in cruise bracelets....these can be ordered for our group if desired. I'm willing to do the group order. My suggestion would be that we use our group name OR Disney Magic, May 30, 2009. We are limited to 25 characters, so can't have both. The cost is $1.10 each for an order of 100; the price drops if we do more than 100. Each size constitutes an order--thus, we can do 100 adult and 100 youth, but we can't do 50 of each without an extra fee. Glow in the dark is 5 cents more if desired. The cost does drop if we order 200+ of any size, but pricing is in groups of 100.

SO..this is an interest survey, not a firm order (I will let you know before I order and ask for a commitment at that time)

# of bracelets (adult)
# of bracelets (youth)
preferred embossing (group name vs. Dis Magic, date)

Here's the thread with the photo!

The top picture is the adult bracelet
The middle picture is the youth glow-in-the-dark bracelet
The bottom picture is the lot, and most accurately displays the colors

I'm not sure the picture came thru here...guess I'll find out when I hit "submit."

I just checked and there are plenty of places that will allow you to order 50 bracelets for about $1.25 each with a message. Before anyone orders, we need to look at some other options since I don't think we will need 100 of each size.

Since we are all budget minded, the infinite dress is on sale at graveyardmall.com for $4.99 each.

Some people don't like them, some love them. For $5 it's hard to beat.

argh- after I bought several at $20 each. Figures! Just my luck! LOL

Vote in the poll I made for group name!!!

Anyone else gonna vote? :)
I wanna know since I finally have the perfect design for our shirts (I mean our family- not the group! LOL) and just need to know the text to put in. So vote please. :)
(or do you think I should just go ahead with what is looking like the majority winning name at this point?)

I went out this weekend and picked up some stuff for the FE's. I'm still working on ours. Party City has some neat stuff with Mickey Mouse and Pirates themes if anyone is interested. I bought some stuff to put on our door, too.

Hi to everyone,

While lurking among these boards, I decided to join and post as this is our first family cruise on Disney. While we are truly WDW veterans, (weekly trips to the parks for the last 12 years plus) this is our 1st cruise on the Magic as a family.

We have the following in our group of three staterooms: DH, me, DS (15 with autism) and DD (12 at sailing, 13 on June 23rd); my brother, his wife and his daughter; and my brother-in-law and his wife.

We sailed last August on RCI's Mariner as a group of 14. My brother and his wife have never sailed before. I have sailed a 3 night Wonder several years ago, and a 3 night Magic (fresh from drydock) this past October.

Any thoughts, helpful hints or just "hellos" are greatly appreciated. Hoping to have DD meet some new friends prior to sailing.

OT.travel insurance
I'm on insuremytrip.com and it's offering me so many choices!
I've narrowed it down to:
Accessamerica
Travelguard
TravelInsured
Anyone used any of these recently or had to make a claim with them?

I used Travelguard in the past and actually had to cancel our cruise because of illness. We got every penny back for our trip, of course, not the insurance cost, but that was the price for not losing thousands.

I just changed our Cozumel excursion from Dolphinarius to Dolphin Discovery Cozumel at 9:45 a.m. Who knows, I may change it again! LOL!

I would really like to do the jeep excursion but I'm not sure just how *bumpy* the ride is. We have a jeep so I'm used to riding in one, but I don't like being bounced around a lot. I'm not sure if this one goes off-road or not. Anyone know?:confused3

Hi just a heads up - they told me at the Dolphin Discovery in Cozumel that we should arrive 15 minutes early. I just looked at our schedule and we probably won't be able disembark until 9:30 according to Disney. Not sure that you'll make it in time with the cab ride and all. It might be work checking with Disney so you don't miss it if we can disembark early. Just a thought.

If you check, let me know what you find out as I may go ahead and change our time if they think we'll disembark before 9:30. I prefer earlier in the day - right now we're scheduled at 1 PM.

Welcome to the group and glad you posted!
*hi!*

I don't have the same age/gender kids- but if you look back a few pages it was posted a list of people on this cruise- well atleast those doing the FE- and there seem to be quite a bit of preteens and teens in our group! So hopefully they will make friends on the cruise with other DIS'ers kids. hehe

First Disney cruise huh? Boy are you in for the time of your lives. :cool1:

Did you (or your other extended family members) happen to book cat 12 gty? Just ask because we were trying to see how many we booked- just in this group alone (which ofcourse others not on DIS and not posting on this thread may have cat 12 gty's also). We've got so many so far we're expecting a lot of people to be upgraded to atleast cat 11. :)

Great idea! I added a link to the poll in my first post of this group :)

Karen

That was a great idea and thanks for putting it on the first post! Looks like we have a few more votes for the same one that was winning already... if it keeps pulling ahead like that I might go ahead and make our shirts without waiting till the end of the month. LOL

The 75th day for us to be able to make our advance reservations finally got here. After fighting with the DCL website for quite a while, I finally got in by registering under DH's name instead of mine. :thumbsup2

Anyway, we were able to get the 7 pm Wednesday (Pirate night) Palo reservation that we had wanted & also all of the shore excursions that we had wanted. We have reservations for the Grand Cayman Island Tour at 11:30 am, the Cozumel Highlights & Mayan Ruins and the Castaway Cay Getaway Package.

Now I can go to bed happy!!!

Good Morning,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I did read several posts that I might talk to DD about. Okay, here's the loaded question...is it too late for FE's for our group and is there a post with more specifics (ie how many we give, when, etc)? This sounded great to us.

We all booked a Cat 5 or 6 with specific stateroom to be assigned on the ship. My DH and I are celebrating our anniversary on June 1st so this was a special treat for us.

We are all very excited and my kids last day of school is the 28th of May. What a way to start their summer vacation!

We're booked through DCL, so the 9:45 is probably just our meet time onboard or wherever. I'm not concerned about it because DCL's the one that scheduled that time so I guess they'll have us there on time.

Welcome! I have twin daughter's that will be 12 on this cruise. This is their very first cruise as well. We will be celebrating our anniversary on June 6th.

Good Morning! :wave2:

I'm counting down the days. :teacher: We have less than 9 weeks left of school and 10 weeks till our cruise! :thumbsup2 Time is flying! I'm starting to get more excited than before. :cool1: How are things coming along with the rest of you? We are working on our FE gifts and I'm excited about doing this again.

See that the menus for our cruise may have changed. Going to look over them ahead of time it I can. :confused3 Got the girls dresses for formal night. Something they will be able to wear to church or at dances too. Not just once. :cheer2:

If you book an excursion thru DCL, the time to arrive is when DCL gets you there! Do be at the meeting site on time (location and time will be on the tickets in your stateroom). The excursion won't be shortened or anything if the ship is a little late. If for any reason the ship can't get in, you won't be charged. Ah, the advantage of booking thru DCL--no worries.

Where did you see the menus? Also, don't forget to vote for group name!:thumbsup2

Yep, that's why I'm going through DCL. A little peace of mind!
