May 3, 2003 - Magic Eastern Cruisers

Yes, I agree - we do all need to be on deck for the Sail Away! A short "hello" would be fine and we all can at least recognize, if not recall the person's name, when we see eachother on the ship.

I'm not sure where we will be for the Sail Away party but we don't care for the noise and crowds at the bandstand - so it will be forward or aft.

Again, any additions/changes or deletions to the list, let me know!

Rae

Children are permitted there and in most areas of the ship - in the evening there is a piano player and singer in the Lounge and often you will see families dancing together there as you pass by. Plus the Internet cafe is located at the aft end of the Lounge and two televisions.

I believe the only childfree area besides Palo is the Cadillac Lounge down Beat Street. Disney is just very family friendly and it makes for a wonderful time with children.

My oldest and his fiance are planning a June 2004 wedding and MIGHT do their wedding on the ship - but they definitely want their honeymoon on DCL! What a wonderful idea - wonder who they got that from?!!!!!

Meeting after the drill sounds great -- we'll show up where ever we're told, anywhere on a disney ship! :) We like to be up at the party when the ship sails away, too, if that swings any decisions.

We'll be pretty easy to recognize -- the pastey people from up north where the spring sun has been obliterated by *another* snowstorm today! Aargh -- we should be done with the white stuff by by now!

We're staying at the Radisson the night before, too. I'll probably send the always-agreeable hublet to the pier with the bags early, and then we'll likely catch the shuttle around 11-ish.

We're starting get get very excited and I picked up my prescription snorkel mask yesterday -- finally, I will be able to swim and see!

northernmouse -

I loved that "pastey people" description - Mom and I avoid the sun (afraid of skin cancer) but since Michael is 1/4 black, he has this great perpetual tan and looks even better when he darkens up!!!

It's really going to be a blast just to meet everyone!!!

Rae

Hi, Rae: when I say 'we', the pastey people, it's mostly me. DH is adopted, so we're not too sure about him -- he'll be very tan and mix in with the island natives in about 12 hours. He's the human version of those lenses that change colour in the sun.

The DH's son has some of the same tendencies, with his redhead-mother's freckles. So he changes colour only a little slower, with spots for emphasis.

I go pink then tan -- so a visit to the pre-trip 'fake and bake' a few times is a must before the Carribean. Even then, I know I'll start the trip standing out really well under blacklights. (Remember those?!)

This trip is going to be a blast!

I am still laughing about the blacklights!!!!!

Yup, we pastey people sure know how to GLOW!!!!

Just to make you feel "better" (or maybe not), I cut my grass for the first time today. It was in the mid 70's here - I forget how to convert to Celsius (sorry!) but it was t-shirt weather definitely!

Rae

Well we're certainly supposed to be pasty over here in the UK! In fact it' supposed to rain most of the time. Despite that we were out in our t-shirts (hint, hint!) today enjoying clear blue skies and 74 degree heat (23 Celsius to us)... Hmm maybe global warming isn't so bad after all?...

I think we're going to have a head start in the tanning stakes! And from England - what will you all say?!!

My husband lived in England for 3 years and said that the sun did shine - on holidays and royal occassions - pray tell, what is the occassion today 4/4/03?!

Ohhh, I know it's only 28 days til we cruise!
Now that's cause for a real celebration!!

Rae

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I also have Passporter and think it is great. Booked all of our excursions already thank to Dis board help too.
As far as meeting onboard. Think after Muster is good myself and is Topsider deck 7 where we were talking about meeting before?

Emmak (my dd) and I have the Home Depot paint samplers to wear to meet. She got red but I told her others were thinking lime green, either way, we'll have some on. :bounce: :bounce: :earsboy: :earsgirl:   :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

um...what is a paint sampler?? got me wondering! I am planning on making us all matching white tee-shirts with some sort of disney design on them. Someone has to just take the lead and decide on a place to meet! lol I think everyone agrees that after muster is a good idea- maybe we can meet somewhere for the sail away??? I hear we need to bring bubbles for our departure celebration! I have mini bottles of bubbles- left over from some celebration or other! I'd be glad to share with all dis'ers! Getting all tingly at the thought of the pleasures to come! I think anticipation is SWEET!:smooth:

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Less then a month!! WOOO HOOOO!

HEY - I thought I had a countdown clock installed- sheesh....  :(

Just wanted to post to say Hi again  and I also wanted to see my countdown clock! We are getting so excited now! I will be traveling with my DH, DS(11) and DD(6). We will also be with my sisters family- but I will let her post on her own (Wendydarling....where are you????)

:earsgirl: :earsboy: :sunny:

lodgelady, is your cruise May 3 also. Your clock reads a little earlier than mine, but guessed you made yours to countdown to midnight on the 2nd or 12:01 the 3rd. Mine is counting down to time we arrive at the port that would be the difference.

Anyhow, I'm guessing you are on the same one. Hope to see you there. Enjoy the anticipation in the meantime!:Pinkbounc  :bounce: :)

 Hi Jeanne434 - the tags are the color samples at the Disney Paint counter at Home Depot. They would be perfect for your shirts. You need to cut the Mickey out but then use double sided tape on back. They're real cute.

I think most people are amenable to after Muster. I thought up on Deck 7, they said aft where very few people go was a spot that might be good too, or prominade deck. I go for Deck 7 only because more people might be on prominade deck, as long as we aren't missing the sail away. What does everyone think??:Pinkbounc :bounce:

It is very crowded and loud up on the Decks - if we can have a quick hello at the Lounge then head up to the Decks we will be fine.

It won't be too bad once we see eachother, we can go up in mass and take over the ship! YEAH!!!! Rock on May 3 cruisers!!!

For those of you who are going on the May 3, 2003 Eastern Caribbean, below is a photo of Rae(Rae519), her DS Michael, and her Dmom Lilly, all three of them will be on your cruise. Take good care of my buddy Rae and her family, I'll be waiting to hear some good reports from your cruise!!!

Today 4-6-03, is also Lilli'y Birthday,
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY LILLY"

Very Happy Birthday to Lilly!

Don't worry - we'll take fine care of them. Why don't you join us?

P.S. I have pre-ordered all the shrimp on the boat!

However I have just received a message from Disney saying this will not now be possible as they have removed all shrimp from that sailing - "for the safety and protection of other passengers..." What can that mean? :D

It means they know Rae is on that cruise!!! Believe you me, if my daughter wasn't in school, I would have changed my ressies in a minute, to be on that cruise with ALL of you!!!

Mom is very thankful for all the birthday greetings (both on the thread and in private) - you are all such gracious people for taking the time to congratulate her on her 74 years!!! She had a good time since we started to celebrate her birthday last night with dinner after Church at our favorite authentic Italian owned and operated restaurant, and continued it later today!! We laughed so much you'd have thought we were drunks but she doesn't really care to drink AT ALL and I am just a social drinker and even then not much of one!!!!

Anyway, I was SHOCKED to hear from Matthew that Disney is taking such drastic action regarding the shrimp - I wonder who finked me out on the shrimp!!!!

Andy?
