Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs has just announced at the dedication ceremony that the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at the Magic Kingdom will be opening on May 28 2014.

“Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is both literally and figuratively the centerpiece of New Fantasyland, so we knew it had to be something special,” Staggs said. “The attraction appeals to everyone in the family and provides just the right blend of heart, humor, and thrill while keeping with the charm of this special land.”

Staggs was joined at Friday’s dedication by Snow White and all Seven Dwarfs who proudly brought their freshly-mined gems: buckets of glowing diamonds and jewels and wheelbarrows stacked with oversized rubies, emeralds and sapphires.

“It’s my honor to dedicate the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which we think will become an instant classic in New Fantasyland,” said Staggs.

Beat me by a minute. Tom Staggs said "open to all guests" on 5/28. So it sounds like perhaps a soft opening until then. Maybe?

How disappointing to guests that they are approaching this so differently than they did the original New Fantasyland opening (with the dedication and media event happening weeks in advance of the official opening).

Thanks for the date - the May 2nd media day announced months ago followed by 4 more weeks of waiting but not announced until today? Disney needs to fire everyone in its PR department who thought that was a good idea.

Sweet! The 28th is our first MK day and I was able to book a FP+ for the 9 - 10 AM time slot. I can't wait

I will be there may 29to June 3. But when I go into make fast pass. That is not showing up for me. There is no mine train listed. What am I doing wrong?

I had to refresh the screen several times. Then it showed up as seven dwarfs mine train.
