May 28, 2005 Mexican Riviera

528 - We have two DDs as well. Sarah is 10 and Katie is 5. I think it's wonderful that you are surprising them for this trip.

Carrie - I keep thinking good thoughts for Sammy. I hope is fully recovered in time for the trip and that you all have a wonderful time. You certainly deserve it!

Challada - please keep up with the hidden Mickey's! We can't wait to try and find them all.

Jim - Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting what will be going on during your cruise. We can't wait to hear all about it!

Regarding the luggage - I make a list for everyone and check it off. I use the various packing lists (and what not to bring lists) that have been posted on this and other Cruise Boards. When we went on a cruise a few years ago, I forgot to pack my DH's socks. (I still haven't lived that one down and it's probably the first thing I put in the suitcase each time we go away ;) ) The good news is they have a lot of that stuff available in the shops, so it was not that big of a deal.

A couple of items I highly recommend is a clear over-the-door shoe rack. I hang this in the bathroom and it keeps all the toiletries, medicines (in the high part), etc. very organized without cluttering the sink. I bought one at Bed, Bath & Beyond for about $8.00. It folds flat and is easy to pack. The other item is a multiple power outlet extension cord. There is not enough outlets if you need to charge a camera, gameboy, CD-player.

Hi - just wanted to let everyone know how much I have enjoyed reading all the info. We have been planning this cruise for a year and can't believe it is almost here. We are a group of 22. We have 5 cabins on deck 6 and 1 on deck 8. We are ages 73 to 3. Kid's ages are boys 21,19,8,6,4, 3 and infant. Girl's ages 16,10 & 4. All are first time Disney cruisers. Our noisy group will all be staying at the Sheraton the night before and watching the ship come in. We are counting the days

CBUSALAC-If you guys are roudy, you'll fit in well with my group. We too have been plannig for a year. My husband and I were at Disney World last year for our 1st anniversary, and my mom called us up and told us about this cruise. We were so excited all our friends and family jumped on board. (ha ha, get it!? On board...nevermind) You guys sound fun and I am looking forward to meeting you.

When we went on our first DCL cruise, I also had a list and checked items off by one. I thought I had everything. When it came time to get dressed for formal night, I realized I forgot to bring some nice socks. Lucky for me, the shop had one with a Mickey design. It was pricey, but nice! DW still thinks I forgot them on purpose just so I can buy a pair of Mickey socks for myself. :earboy2:

We are a group of 10... 4 cabins on deck 6 and 1 on deck 8! Our ages are 74 to 12 (13 in June) Alyssa and Andrew 15. We are staying at the Holiday Inn the night before and we WILL be celebrating the arrival of the ship at the dock, confetti, horns, banners!... hope to see you there.

Hi all - just wanted to say this is a great thread. Lots of info and nice people. My husband and I and our 21 month old son will be going on the May 28th cruise also. We were so happy Disney was sailing on the west coast, so we didn't have to take our toddler on an airplane. We have booked the Puerto Vallarta Paradise Beach Adventure excursion, thought my son would like the small zoo and pool. Any other good excursions or things a toddler can do while in port? :cool1:

Any pin collectors? This is from the west bound crossing thread. Hopefully these port call pins will be available for our cruise. Take a look.

I know my sister and her friend were hoping to be able to purchase some of the special pins. But now reading (on the link) that the westbound cruisers can purchase up to five a day after the initial release day I doubt there will any left when we get on. :sad2: I hope they have a special one for our cruise.

Rose

WELCOME ABOARD!... Glad to have you join us. There are lots of nice people on here with small children so you should be able to find some playmates for your son. I know what you mean about the airplane... I didn't want to waste 2 days of vacation just to get to the ship and back. I'm so glad they are bringing it out here to us. See you in JUST 24 days!

It will be fun and my pleasure to do it. The last two trips on the Magic I have sent updates to a few friends back home letting them know what we were doing. But this time will be special. Not only a "special" cruise but being able to communicate with the group that is going on the next "special" cruise! Hopefully, as the Magic makes it's way from coast to coast, to PICK YOU UP, I can have you tasting the food, feeling the ocean breeze, experiencing the beat of the deck sail away parties and feeling the Magic a little early! And feel free to blast away with questions during our cruise.

Just don't make a fuss when we pull into California; I don't think too many people know about this... :rolleyes1

My suitcase is OPEN on my bedroom floor and as I get things I toss them in so I won't forget to pack them later... Many trips I have left things that I bought "especially" for that trip, but not anymore.
Sandy this sounds great but my little Ava (20 months) would be dragging all the newly packed items out of it and hiding them :rotfl: She loves to "help" me fold laundry and put things in ANY drawer :flower:

Welcome! Wow, 22 people, that is amazing. And you are travelling with a lot of little kids. We have 2 DDs, 21 months and just turned 5. Hope to meet your group onboard!! I am trying to book a room at the Sheraton but it looks like it is full?

Hi Sue, My son was born August 19th. I'm not sure how he will do in the nursery, since he's never been in a daycare situation. (except once at the gym I go to, and he cried most of the time). We'll try it and see how it goes.
Jaime

Alex-
Now you have me wanting all the pins! DRATS...since you've been on the "firsts", I figure you would know best....will there be anything available for pins that will mark our cruise as the first? TIA
Chris

Don't know about the west coast ports of call, but there is DEFINITELY a pin for the first West Coast sailing...... http://eventservices.disney.go.com/pintrading/pin?id=8859 . It's not available on-line so it looks like we will be the only ones with it!!!!!! :cool1:

Hi,
Ava was born on the 16th - she is three days older :flower:

She goes to my company's onsite daycare 2 days a week (I work two days a week) and then she goes to the gym nursery with me two or three times a week (if I'm doing good and working out :flower: )

Luckily she really likes to be with other kids. She might cry a bit at first but I'm sure she will end up liking it in the end. My husband and I really want to try Palo's.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Hi everyone!
I'm not on your cruise (we're July 30th) but I was wondering if ANYONE in your group has be able to find out any information from DCL about when the formal, semi-formal and special theme nights are going to be?! I figure since you're in your 30 day window (can you stand it?!?!) you may have found something out. Every time I call DCL they tell me to call about 30 days before the cruise but my compulsive planning disorder :rotfl2: isn't allowing that to rest well with me.

I bet a lot of us west coast cruisers are budding into your thread for info...hope we're not buggin' y'all! :teeth:

Thanks,
Lisa

As there are pins for each of the ports on the Panama Canal Cruise, hopefully there will be pins for all our port calls (two are the same as 14 day cruise-one new one). I have heard that our cruise will get a bit more "hoopla" as the first DCL cruise leaving LA than the 14 day arrival we get. Hope it's true!! For serious pin traders, we will try to get extra pins the day after release when we can get up to 5 pins, if there are any left. Alex
