Greetings all...

We just got off the Dream a week ago today. Our family was on the Dream's 1st 5 Day Double Dip May 29-June3 and it was fabulous. While on board, we booked the May 26th Fantasy so we could go again. This cruise was almost sold out when we booked with only a handful of rooms to choose from.

At cruise time next year...
Our 5th Disney Cruise: Wonder 2005, Magic 2007 & 2009, Dream 2011 & Fantasy 2012

Just a few quick notes from the Dream:
Stayed at the Hyatt pre-cruise - this is great/convenient and the only way for us. Checked in at MCO and received Boarding #3/2nd bus. We could have had Boarding #2/Bus #1, but the CM had printing issues that delayed us about 20 minutes waiting at the desk. The new shows were just outstanding and we loved them all. Even the Golden Mickey's was updated with new material that was fun. Ship, rooms, kids/adult areas, restaurant areas were all beautiful. Palo's was wonderful as usual, but only half full. Our server told us that they have trouble filling it on these shorter cruises since people want to try all 3 rotation dining rooms. No issues with elevator waits except the last morning which is expected.

The only ship negatives we experienced were pools crowding/chair hogging (nothing new and it was Memorial Day week) and Cabanas. We liked the food and facility well enough, but whoever designed the layout so that you have to go through Cabanas...where everyone is getting their food and eating, just to go from the elevators/stairs to the pool/deck area was just crazy. It was congested and the CM's were always trying to hand you hand sanitizing clothes for your meal when all you wanted to do was walk to get a drink at the drink stations. People were also confused about whether you waited in line "buffet style" or jumped in and got what you wanted "food station" style. CM's kept telling people to jump in, it's not cutting, they want no lines. The design of the elevators and the adult area was the same way. Tons of kids walking through since they had no choice if they wanted to get from the elevators to the deck. We are hoping they fix this design flaw in the Fantasy since they have already announced other design differences between the sister ships. Maybe they won't be exactly the same.

It could have been the difference in a 7 day to the 5 day we took this time, but there didn't seem to be as many family and adult activities in the evening as normal beween and after the shows. Also, the cruise entertainment staff on the pool decks just didn't seem as good and energetic as in the past cruises either. I have great past memories of my kids learning lots of dance songs and moves they learned on deck...those song words that immediately make you think of your cruise and how much fun it was...Let's Get It Started.... I can't remember any of that from this cruise. Maybe they were just new and learning the ropes.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the new round bathtub design, bed/bedding and the raised beds in the stateroom. We had plenty of storage to spare. I brought my over the door shoe rack for the bath room, but left the 2nd one that I use for shoes at home. Glad I did since the closet had PLENTY of room for shoes on the lower shelves. Loved the new Shutter "book case" design. This made it so easy to review our photos at the end of the trip. LOVED the Aquaduck. We all road it many times. We had chocolate covered strawberries every single day from the cafes. They were my DD's favorite treat on board. DD15 LOVED Vibe. She spent a lot of time there in the afternoons and after the show. DD10 had a great time in the Lab/Club too.

Our only real personal bummer was that my DD15 lost her SD card for her camera on the morning we left. We had requested a 6 am wakeup call from Guest Services (we couldn't figure out how to set the alarm clock) and we received no call. They said sometimes it just doesn't seem to work and they don't know why. My husband woke up at 6:30 on his own and we jammed to get dressed and out the door by 6:45 for breakfast. DD15 swapped out her full card the previous night since it had over 1000 pictures on it from our week in Orlando and the 5 night cruise. In her rush to get back to Vibe in a hurry, she failed to be responsible and put it in my camera case. The next morning in our rush, it must have fallen on the floor when we were throwing the remaining items in carryon bags. I called Disney Lost & Found later that day when she realized it was missing, but no luck yet.

Lesson Learned - figure out a way to put ID on the SD cards JIC

Overall, a fabulous trip and we just loved the new ship design changes. She is just beautiful. If anyone has any questions, I would be happy to answer if I can. Looking forward to the Fantasy and a longer cruise.

what does Minnie look like? I can look for Mickey in Sept. :) and maybe even meet you for lunch. :) do you have my home email to send me a picture? ( John has a Mickey in scuba gear.)

We are hoping to visit Aulani. :)

I don't have your home email me, pm me and I will send you a pic of Minnie!! That would be incredible to include in her bag, and we can definitely do lunch!!

I have never seen scuba Mickey, that has to be too cute..

I am so envious of my mom, she offered for us to go but plane fare is over $1000 each out of here and with the trip to Cali and Disney next week and the volume of money we have put into the house this year it just wasn't possible. It looks beautiful though!! Take pics when you go. My girlfriend just went to Hawaii earlier this year and did a dolphin encounter which was right there at the property and she said it looked gorgeous!

Booked our 2nd cruise in May and am AMAZED at how many people have already booked! My DH allows me my Disney obsession...to a point. But he didn't have the best experience on our last Disney cruise (not Disney's fault!), so we haven't been on another one since 2004. He also does not like to repeat vacations. He likes to see different parts of our world. So we went to Hawaii last year for our 20th anniversary. I, of course, wanted to go back. He did not, so I get my 2nd Disney cruise on the Disney Fantasy! We met some AWESOME DISers on our last cruise and can't wait to make some more DISfriends! Please add us to the roll call. Now to start paying for this trip!

Do you mind me asking what happened on your first cruise?

WOW, so many new people are joining. Looks like it is going to be a big group of DISer's on this cruise. I promise I will get the roll call updated this weekend. Haley has her first dance recital tomorrow and her 5th birthday is next weekend so we are gearing up for her party and then heading to Orlando.

Is there anyone on that is good with photoshop or any editing program that could work on a logo for us. I have tried many times and can not figure out how to do it.

Do you mind me asking what happened on your first cruise?

It's a LONG story. I'll try to keep it somewhat shorter! Before our trip I couldn't find my birth certificate (BC), so I had to order a new one. It came in, and 2 weeks before our trip, I found where my DH had hidden (from both of us) our important papers including my BC and 2 more copies of his BC. We then went on our trip. We checked in and went up to the counter to have our BC's checked. I handed the CM one of the BC's and it was okay. When I handed them the 2nd BC, my DH says, "Why do we have 2 copies of your BC?"! After realizing right at that moment :faint: that I did not have HIS BC, I shot him a look that said, "Keep your mouth shut!!!". By the divine power of God:littleangel:, the CM did not hear him NOR see my name on both BC's! She only felt for the raised seals on both of them! We went ahead onto the ship in panic mode. In the process our DS-10 lost one of his shoes on the ship somewhere (and never found it). We spoke with some DISers at our Welcome Aboard party, and they told us DH would need his BC again when we got to St. Thomas. We had to call my DSIL before we left port to have her find his BC and ship it to St. Maarten in hopes that it would reach us in time. UPS said they couldn't do it, but luckily FEDEX said they could. DH, naturally, was a nervous wreck for 3 days! We didn't tell Disney what we were waiting for, but they knew we needed a package and said it would be no problem. In the mean time, I got sick the 1st night with a sinus infection:sick: (probably made worse by stress!) and had to pay $100 to see the MD/Nurse for $2 worth of antibiotics-the only meds I DIDN'T bring with me! On the day we got to St. Maarten, our catamaran excursion was cancelled due to high winds. We checked with Guest Services about the package around lunch time and they said our package was on the island. However when we asked before dinner about the package, they said, "What package?". Can you say :scared1: Obviously this was a new CM and they had no clue. Then they told us it was on the FEDEX truck and would not make it to the ship on time! We went to dinner totally depressed thinking DH was going to be put out on St. Thomas and have to fly home or who knows what! But once again by the grace of God:angel:, a CM brought us the package at our dinner table! :woohoo: Can you say, "Drink of the Day"...I did!!!. :cool1: This was Monday night. On Wednesday we arrived at St. Thomas with all of our BC's! We had a great snorkeling excursion on a pirate ship...but I got stung by fire coral and our DS-10 had a bad time with snorkeling. But my DH and I had a great time...and too much to drink! We ended up losing one of our DDs shoes and buying 2 of the same shirt! The next day was at sea. There was a seafood buffet and my DH enjoyed it thoroughly. We rested and then went to Palo and had a big deliciously rich dinner. At 1am I was awakened by loud wretching. Guess who? And severe diarrhea. He ended up with a temp of 101 from dehydration. I called Guest Services thinking the seafood must have been bad. But no one else on board was sick. We then had to pay another $100 for him to see the MD and get a shot for vomiting (I had pills for this but he couldn't keep them down). He was then quarantined to his room for the rest of the trip.:sad1: We had docked at Castaway Cay by this time. We had a room with a verandah but were docked to where he couldn't see the island. I then had to take the kids to play, while he stayed alone in the room. The next day the trip was over. Now you see why he is not as thrilled about the cruise! :lmao:

Hey everyone - I haven't checked in here in a while, been busy with the school year! But, the summer is here and this teacher is off duty!! Trying to enjoy & relax.

We're heading on the Dream in a couple of months for a quick 3-nighter. Only taking 4 & 7 night cruises in the past (and still thinking 4 nights is too short), I'm not sure that I'll love the shortness of the 3-night. But, it was the only way to fit in a quick cruise to see the Dream!!

Looking forward to spending a full week on the Fantasy next year! I promise to spend some time reading what you've all been up to and getting involved!! I love the DISfamily and I've met some lifelong friends thanks to the DISboards & DCL. So, I hope that I can get to know all of you too!!

I saw someone mention Photoshop. I'm no pro, but I do teach Photoshop Elements to my middle-schoolers. Let me know what kind of design you're looking for and I can give it a shot! I did the design for our DIS Christmas cruise back in 2008 (for my 10th anniversary). Let me know!

Oh my word!! You deserve a do-over

Sorry for not keeping up on this thread! I concentrated on our EBTA that we took last month and things have not been back to normal since we got back. We took my MIL with us on the TA, and that was great, she loved it, it was our best cruise yet :goodvibes. She didn't make her flight home, though, because of health complications...she ended up in our local hospital and is going to be there for at least another week, poor thing. So I'm visiting her with my DH and/or with the kids at least once a day, many times twice a day. Meanwhile, we packed out our household goods in the two days right before we flew out for our cruise, so we are using loaner furniture until we fly to the states next month. Hoping to get MIL safely home and our dog safely to our new home stateside.

Not even really thinking about next years' vacation, but it will be nice when the time for it rolls around that it is already booked. I looked into rebooking this cruise while onboard, but the price has risen too much plus my stateroom cat. is all sold out....so no OBC for us, shame!

For anyone considering ever doing a TA I highly encourage you to do so! It was pure perfection. I loved every bit of it. Six seadays in a row, wow!, so relaxing. The seas were like glass, it was unreal. I loved the ports as well. I ended up getting through a book I enjoyed and taking many naps up on deck on a padded lounger.

That was my 4th cruise on the Magic, it will be exciting to try out a new Disney ship and a bigger one at that! I haven't decided how much I'm going to allow myself to be "spoiled" about the Fantasy. Perhaps I should avoid all photos before I board so that I can have a brandnew experience in person? I wonder if I can do that....most likely I can, I didn't find out what sex my kids were before they were born.

6 days at sea, how glorious is that!! I am so sorry about MIL, hope she gets well soon!!

Where are you moving in the states?

I know there is no way I won't be reading all about the Maiden Voyages, but I have learned to keep an open mind about other people's experiences!!

You two definitely deserve a do over!!!!! Yikes, what a trip... Luckily many things did work out, but boy what a stressful trip.

I can definitely see why he would be hesitant to go again, surprised you were able to convince him at all :rotfl:

Welcome back!! I am not sure what design for the logo.. Since it's Memorial Day I thought something red, white and blue would be neat and beyond that I have no clue. I have tried a few different times to do a couple, but can't manage to figure out photoshop at all.. Can we say creatively challenged :rotfl:

I tried just doing a life preserver with palapas (sp?) inside and then red, white and blue lines, but....

Anything you could come up with I am sure would be great!

I updated the Roll Call for everyone we have 36 FAMILIES so far!!! I hope I did not forget anyone and if I did I sincerely apologize. Please pm me and I will update!!

Thanks! BTW my nickname is Bigred and I have strawberry blonde (more strawberryish!) hair too! Hope we meet on the cruise! And to what state are y'all moving? And when?

Me too, cool! :goodvibes

We are moving to AL this July. My DD is counting down the days, she can't wait! I'm eager to start our new chapter as well. Once you begin moving, you just want to finish.

6 seadays in a row, but about 8 all together I think :thumbsup2

Thanks for your get well wishes for MIL, she does better everyday.

I'm not worried about other peoples' opinions of the new ship, in fact early advice could prove very helpful to us. I'm just thinking about banning myself from looking at early photos of the Fantasy before I board her...letting the visual all be a big surprise. Not sure if I will be able to stick to that, or not, but I'd like to try. I've looked at so many of the Dreams photos, though, that it may be too late already!

Where in AL? My father's family is from there and we lived there for 5 years while my husband was in school, now we are back in Louisiana. We really loved living in AL. We are going to Alaska soon with DCL, but I am so looking forward to this cruise, too! My daughter is finally old enough to do a dolphin excursion, so this should be a cruise to remember especially since we will be able to experience a new ship.

Please add us to the Roll Call and to the Fish Extender program... although I am still getting the details on what that entails, I have 11 months to figure it out. :)

This will be our second Disney cruise. We did a 5 day double dip on the Wonder last May that the kids have not stopped talking about since. I started looking into doing "just one more" :rotfl: 5 day cruise next year, while they are still young enough to appreciate the magic, and found that this 7 day cruise really wasn't that much more expensive than the 5 day ones I was looking at. The date also worked nicely with when the kids get out of school. And the icing on the cake was that it was Disney's newest ship!

We are all so excited!!! :yay:

I can definitely see why he would be hesitant to go again, surprised you were able to convince him at all :rotfl:

Actually still working on it! But more about the cost this time!;) At least we're already booked!:thumbsup2

Cactusgirly - We are from Arizona too, but south of you and just north of Tucson. We booked this week for a one of the same reasons DD(15) will be just getting out of school for the summer. Its great that we get out a little earlier than other parts. The going back so early not so good.
