May 26, 2010--5/26/2010 10 Night Mediterranean

Hard to believe our cruise is only a little more than 2 weeks away! We've been talking about it for months and now it's about to happen! WAHOO!party:

Has anyone had trouble getting on the Disney Cruise website today? I was trying to get on and can't access all of my cruise info.

I've had the same issues today. My basic info comes up but I couldn't look up or modify my cruise plans. Maybe they are updating the system.

Thought this was interesting information from a May 5th cruiser: quote "Safety drill was shortly after 4pm on the 5th. Sail away party was at 4:30, though we didn't actually pull out until about 9:30."

So there is a possibility that the sail away party will be earlier than actual sailing time. I know I read somewhere earlier that the party was around 10pm and there was very low attendance and it was really cold too so perhaps DCL has moved it to 430pm for better attendance!

First it's the volcano, now BA is threatening to strike... and of course, our tickets are on BA with a well-planned stopover in London.

I'm trying not to worry. I'm trying not to panic. My mom's TA is on top of it (I think). And yet it's really putting a damper on my enthusiasm. Feeling a bit sad.:sad2:

British Airways cabin crew are to strike from May 18-22 inclusive, May 24-28,
May 30-June 3 and June 5-9, the Unite union has announced.

British Airways

British Airways said it was "unsurprised" the union rejected its latest offer

Members of Unite voted not to accept a proposal from the airline which would have ended the year-long row over jobs and staffing allowances.

British Airways accused Unite of "orchestrating" rejection of a "very fair" offer it said addressed all the concerns raised during 14 months of talks.

Cabin crew leaders had been meeting the union's joint general secretaries to discuss their next move.

Derek Simpson and Tony Woodley said: "BA management should take note of their own employees' strong rejection of their offer and immediately address the outstanding concerns."

British Airways said it was "disappointed but not surprised" Unite rejected the offer and said nothing can be gained from more industrial action.

"We urge Unite to put an end to this unnecessary dispute and focus on the best interests of its members. There can be nothing positive to be gained from further strikes," the airline said.

"Unlike other businesses and airlines, we have avoided compulsory redundancies. Cabin crew face no pay cut or reduction in terms and conditions, and remain the best rewarded in the UK airline industry."

More than 7,000 union members took part in the latest ballot, with over 5,600 rejecting the deal and 1,375 voting in favour.

But I AM stressing... I really am!!! How can my mom's TA tell us, in all sincerity, that we shouldn't think about it until next week??? I know she means well, but HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's not in my nature.

I found this forum while trying to find dining info for this cruise. My list of questions is growing, so I'm so glad to have found you all! :) We are a military family living in Germany, and this is our first cruise. We have 2 boys who are 7 and 2. My husband gets home from a 4 month deployment soon, and this cruise is our reward! We are so excited!

I'm going to do some more searching before asking my questions, but I wanted to introduce myself first!

Tonia

Hi Tonia- we are a military family living in Germany too! Where are you stationed?

We are on BA also. I just read this on BA's website.

"At Heathrow we plan to operate a substantial part of our longhaul schedule and there will be a number of flights to every destination across our shorthaul network. We are speaking to a number of carriers about leasing in extra aircraft to support our shorthaul schedule and also obtaining thousands of seats from other airlines to help our customers rebook if their original flight is cancelled."

We are traveling from BWI to Heathrow so I saw a little glimmer of hope there; that is if we belong in the "substantial part" of their longhaul schedule.
Longhaul sounds like simi trucks to me. Ah, the difference in languages.

 Since it's only cabin crew on strike, we can tell them we will just help ourselves to the bar, pillows etc! We leave after 9pm and hopefully will sleep most of the way.:lmao:

:moped::

Here's more info about BA using other aircraft to get people to their destination. There is hope!

I cancelled my Couples choice spa for sea day #2 June 4th from 2:30pm-4:40pm in case anyone is looking to book. Thought since we have so many anniversary couples on board, would be a nice way to celebrate. I was able to get my Alone time on a sea day. :goodvibes By far, my favorite spa indulgence. :cloud9:
