I am supposed to be receiving a letter authorizing me to operate a radio station on the cruise. Just wondered if there were any other hams going.

I like the bathroom thoughts - yes I also have heard that the American chain restaurants maintain potties like we expect (from friends who have lived in Spain and other European countries)
As far as I know - a ham license is world wide. This is a group of people who just exchange ideas and conversations - much like a board but it is voice or morse code (Kissimmee - please jump in and correct me if I am wrong!)
My father used to collect QSL cards from all over the world - my mom receipies (she has quite the collection!!). (A QSL card is a post card confirming a conversation) He had stuff from almost every station in the world including Antartica ( a very rare station at the time I think). I never found out what happened to those cards after the house burned down...I should ask him.
Anyway - some repeater stations are for voice some for morse and others for specialized things like phone connection or microwave connection. My father has 2 repeaters that I am aware of in NJ - he maintains them and is responsible for the content on them. It was interesting growing up talking to people from all over the world on low band, then on high, then ultimately on ultrahigh. My father has an extra class license - mom is a general (what they are allowed to use in radio frequencies is the main difference in the types).
Ok - enough techno babble - it is bedtime - I have a meeting in 5 hours...
Are you sure you live in Utah????See, I can say this because I am from there. We can knock our own, but no one else can.
Scrubs are part of the reason I became I nurse. I gladly traded in my high heels and nylons for scrubs and clogs. Going to work in your PJ's what could be better?
In regards to toilets and Europe...I distinctly remember the porcelain foot prints for you to stand over the whole in floor at the Vatican. Yes, this was the girls restroom. I am going to be less than delicate in saying this...you either learn to control the stream or end up with it down your legs.Sorry, I couldn't sugar coat that. I remember wondering why the Vatican of all places couldn't have sit down toilets. I also remember dirt pits at Pompeii.
This was 12 years ago...
Just steal the TP from the ship- less luggage you have to bring.Or you can look at TP in your luggage as potential room for souveniers.
Do you need a license From in Europe For this?![]()
FCC is in US ?![]()
OK, here's the deal: We get free dinner and breakfast on the international flight...WHEW! Then, if we want to purchase breakfast (again!) on the short flight from Madrid to Barcelona, we would have to pay for it. I'll be OK!
No smelly KFC on the flight. I also got a nice person who gave us assigned seats. I called them 3X last week and was told I couldn't request a seat assignment until 72 hours prior to flying because we were steerage (economy) The senorita I just spoke to put us in 21 J and L which is a 2-across window/aisle combination. Call now and maybe you will get her. Ask to be close to us and we'll share our candy.
Not a ham, just full of it....JK - I couldn't resist. Will the real Lori please stand up?

I read the post and thought the same and couldn't believe SOMEONE had not posted that response.....you came to my rescue on the next page.![]()
The radio wave wouldn't interfere w/the ships radios and navigation? Just wondering
Navigation and communication on the magic is via satellite. While they have traditional short wave radios. It is not what they rely on. So the simple answer is no I will not interfere.
And watch those Ham jokes... or I'll get started on Utah... wink wink
PS: our daughters seem to enjoy each other.
