Come one, come all - to a few FREE excursions (yes, FREE) before we set sail out of Barcelona. Kids, Cocker Spaniels (and their owners) welcome!

First up is FRIDAY EVENING: Enjoy the light, water and music show of the Magic Fountain! Show begins at 8pm and runs every 30 minutes until midnight. Time for our meet is 8PM. We will meet at the base of the fountain near the steps to the Museu National d'Art Catalunya. To get there, go via Metro (or foot power) to Placa Espanya. Go through the tall columns following the small water fountains until you reach the big oval Magic Fountain. We'll meet on the far side closest to the steps. Look for wild and crazy DISer's speaking English (it's kind of hard to miss a DIS group). PM Sweetsue if you want to attend.

Here is a picture of the fountain in fully glory. Here is an orientation picture from the steps at the Museu National d'Art Catalunya. The oval fountain at the bottom of the steps is the Magic Fountain. If you keep looking in the distance you will see two tall columns. Those mark the entrance at Placa Espanya.

FREE EVENT #2 - SATURDAY at Noon. Sardana dancing at the Cathedral. This is located in the center of the Gothic Quarter. Just ask anyone and they will tell you where the Cathedral is (just make sure they don't send you to La Sagrada Familia - that's a different cathedral in a different area). Sardana dancing is a traditional Catalan dance. Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia. In fact, you will hear Catalan spoken as much as Spanish! Here is more info. THIS EVENT WILL NOT BE CONFIRMED UNTIL THURSDAY, MAY 24TH. Sardana dancing times vary - it has been held on Sundays or on Saturdays depending on when they feel like having the dancing. I will verify and post by Thursday (and will also update those at the Magic Fountains on Friday night).

LET'S have a GREAT, FUN, FREE time in Barcelona!!!!

OMG...I'd love to bring my dog. She's used to traveling w/us. She could go incognito :cool2: after all she does think she's human :) Anyway, I can't wait to meet you all!!!! :yay:

You and Ken are totally ruining it for me!! For some reason, I thought I had heard they were going to do this a year or so ago. I think I even mentioned it to Tracy. I remembered thinking they should have opend it a long time ago and never followed up on it. It will be fun to see it when it does open and yes, I will post photos.

I know someone asked about snorkeling and I don't know if I am of much help in this department or it depends on how you want to snorkel. The places we are diving are: Olbia, Marsielle (probably), and Nice. At all of these locations, we are doing boat dives- so you can't just do them from the shore. I know many of the merchants we are working with do scuba supplies air snorkel- where you can snorkel wearing a tank and you can't go under the water because your jacket is filled with foam. I also know that some of the other companies will offer to let you snorkel while the divers dive. But I don't have any information on walking off of the beach and snorkeling. I know there are fish in the area and lots of other marine life- but I don't think this will be like the Caribbean where you can just step off of the beach and see tons of fish. You might, but I don't know for sure- so I am not comfortable saying that you would.

I attempted to find some information with casual searches online and didn't really find any information. It was the same with scuba diving- many of the sites said the locations were great for diving and then stopped short. It was kind of crazy. I really had to do some mining and find the info for the local shops in various ways and then contact each one. (Nothing has been easy for this trip and every shore excusion I am setting is is REALLY time consuming.)

If anyone wants to ask about snorkeling with companies that we are diving with- that is fine and feel free to contact me and I will give you the contact information and we can travel together or meet up. I'm all about sharing information and making new friends.

Hi everyone! I've got some great news for you! Some of you may recall on the August 2005 Panama Canal cruise I talked to Dreams Unlimited Travel about sponsoring a wine tasting party. Well for this cruise I went a step further. I have talked to Dreams again and they have agreed to give some money to host some events and give away some cool gifts and prizes on this cruise to DISers and Dreams clients.

For starters I have enlisted the help of Char (charwac) and Celeste (icunurse_celeste). I am proud to announce that your hosts Tracy, Char & Celeste invite all of you to a pajama party on June 1, 2007 at 9:00 p.m., sponsored by Dreams Unlimited Travel. We've got some great things planned and can't wait for the party!! You will receive an invitation in your fish mail. More details later!!

Sue,

We're hoping to make the 8 pm Fountain show. I'm not sure about the Catalan dance. When are you planning on boarding? As of now, were using DCL transportation to the ship from the hotel. I'm not sure how they will be scheduling trips to the port. Do we know if we will be able to get off the ship after we've boarded on embarkation day?

Here's a good reason to visit the cruise list page that NejTheLion setup. You need to make sure that you name is on the cruise list so people know how to find you.

Thanks for arranging this, Tracy....sounds like a blast! Won't the people with late dining still be at dinner, though?

Some will, yes, but the party starts at 9:00 (until tentatively 11 pm) so there will be plenty of time for everyone to stop in!

I guess I will have to bring the rubber duck pajamas after all. :rotfl2:
