May 24, 2014 Alaskan 9 night Wonder

Is it time yet?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Man, keeping the rest of the secret is killing me. I've come soooo close to spilling the beans so many times it is not funny. :rolleyes1 Then my MIL has to skype with me to talk about the cruise, she can't email:headache: I really never thought it would be this hard to keep the secret. But it's killing me:rolleyes:

Thank you for letting me get that off my chest. I feel better. :upsidedow

I have gotten done my FE thingy. So that is done and ready to hang. Magnets are almost done and ready to go. My fridge looks amazing:woohoo: It is helping to keep me in the mood for the cruise. Of course DH is not here to keep those in check :rolleyes1 What the kiddos don't know is the plan is to share the magnets with the family coming:rotfl: And I have a Disney advice/Hidden Mickey book for the graduate done. If you see her walking around trying to find HM and trying to get a pic, don't be surprised:)

Is it time to go yet?? Can you tell I'm excited and ready to go?? I am so ready for some family time.

Oh my goodness! I'm sure you are bursting! :hyper: Just 51 1/4 more days left. You can do it! :thumbsup2

Just saw on Facebook that people were finally being assigned to staterooms so I went and checked and sure enough we have a stateroom assignment!
#8012! :yay::yay::yay:

Any reviews?

Now how do we go about getting this information out for the FE? Should I just send an email to the people in my Minnie group?

YAY for Stateroom numbers! I've never been on deck 8 so I have no review, but as far as the FE list I have your stateroom added now and as soon as I get all of them (or as many as I can by may 8) I will send out and updated list in Stateroom order for each group.

That thread was an April fools joke. It was my April fools joke that back fired so bad! I'm so ashamed! :confused3:cool1:

Well I'm glad you did! It prompted me to check again to see if there were any assignments handed out. It had been a few days since I'd checked. Your "joke" made my day! :)

April Fools went completely over my head yesterday. I wasn't even thinking that because I had 3 people inform me of their Stateroom assignments. But yes, thank you The4Woods for your joke. It started a good chain reaction. Hopefully I can get to the FB page today to see your prank.

Hello everyone! :wave2: We just booked this cruise and cannot wait to go to Alaska! There are four of us traveling: myself, my husband, my daughter, and my father. This will be our 2nd cruise to Alaska and my Dad's first time to Alaska! We are so excited! :hyper: We booked our airfare and are finalizing our excursions today!

We called and found out that Day 2 is formal night and Day 7 is semi-formal night incase people were wondering. There isn't a Pirates night which makes sense. On our 2012 Alaska cruise there was a Pirates night and we thought it was kinda silly! :rotfl2:

We are super excited to get to see Sitka! Does anyone have any good ideas for excursions or on-your-own type of excursions for Sitka day? My dad will be in a wheelchair so we were thinking about just walking around the port. I have read online that St. Michaels Cathedral is a must see. :thumbsup2

Welcome. I know a lot of people have been curious about formal and semi/formal night. Have you looked at the Raptor Center in Sitka yet?

There's some useful links on Page 1/Post 1 of this thread and also throughout 97 pages:faint:

Not sure if this was shared already, but I just came across a helpful site today. www.cruiseportinsider.com Each city has an "On Your Own" tab. Vancouver, Sitka, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan

Thanks for the website! I am going to do some more research tonight on Sitka. This thread is definitely more active than my last cruise with 97 pages! :disrocks:

Welcome. I know a lot of people have been curious about formal and semi/formal night. Have you looked at the Raptor Center in Sitka yet?

Thanks! We have looked into the Raptor Center but it may be difficult to get there with a wheelchair. I saw that there is a excursion with Disney to the Raptor center so I will have to call and ask if it is wheelchair accessible. When I was skimming this thread I saw that people were wondering when formal/semi-formal was so I thought I would ask when I booked the cruise! :)

Has anyone ever been to Palo before for dinner? We just reached platinum and we thought we would try it out since we don't have to pay to go. Is it better than the sit-down dinners in the main dining rooms? We have always enjoyed getting to know our servers. Does anyone know how tipping works at Palo? I guess we just give our room key and they charge the tip on the onboard account?

Sorry for all of the questions! We are just really excited! :jumping1:

Palo dinner is awesome. The food is IMO much better than the main dining rooms as they have to cook for many fewer people! I do enjoy the MD dinners but I really think the food is better at Palo. They present you with a bill for the up charge (which won't be applicable for you) and any beverages at the end of your dinner and you just add a tip to the bill. I believe they will still present the folder even if you don't have any adult beverages and your palo up charge is compliments but I'm not 100% sure as we always order wine and we're not platinum yet :lol;

I'm so happy to know when formal and semi-formal night will be so thanks for letting us know!

It's been a crazy week at work. One of our preschool teachers quit, so I had to change classrooms to take over her class. It's been crazy trying to get the classroom organized and the kids on top of things. Hopefully things will come down next week. 15 days until we head to Disneyland for a week! I'm off to buy more FE gifts!

Welcome Aboard--I have to say I am amazed that people are still booking this cruise. Some of us on this board have been talking and planning this trip for about 15 months now.

Palo, absolutely go, especially for free, it is a wonderful meal and relaxing experience. The chocolate souffle alone is worth the evening. Google Palo and you will come up with tons of pictures showing the food available.

We always do Palo, for dinner and brunch, and we are not Platinum, so we gladly pay the surcharge.

We booked this cruise a couple days ago! There are six of us sailing, my mom, me and my four kiddos ages 6-1. Hubby's staying home this time as Alaska holds no appeal for him. We are going to be aft ship deck five in rooms 5129 and 5131.

I'm excited but a little leery, as the previous two cruises we took were to warmer climes and we spent a bunch of time just soaking in the sun.

My kids are just ecstatic though and keep telling me all about what they are going to do on the boat. I have a feeling that I'm not going to see the older three the entire trip!

We signed up for the FE exchange! :cool1: When will a final list be given out so that way I know how many gifts to make? We participated in the FE on our last Alaska cruise and it was so much fun! :goodvibes

We just booked a few days ago too! Very excited to be going and (hopefully) participating in our first FE. Looking forward to seeing the excitement on our girls' faces (12, 7, 2)!

Hi Im new to the boards. My husband and i are on the May 24 cruise. Id love to get to know more Disney cruise addicts. We've been to the Bahamas 5 times but this is our 1st to Alaska. We are so excited. So. Hello Everyone!
Leslie and Dave

Hi Everyone,
I am new here (and to Disney cruising) and looking forward to joining the fun on May 24th. We have 2 cabins - an inside on deck 6 booked for myself, DD (7), and DS (3) and verandah GTY for grandma. I live in Vancouver and have cruised Alaska many times so happy to provide any tips if needed. Would appreciate any inside info/tips as far as Disney cruising goes!

Wow! Welcome everyone! I never thought we would gain so many new people about a month and a half before our trip. If any of you are trying to join the FB page please let me know. We have had several "spam related" requests to join so many that I moved the group to secret. If you have tried to join and have found yourself not in (I've gone through requests as of right now!) please let me know. Your profile was too locked down for me to make an adequate decision.

If you are on the July 22 sailing, they are an awesome group of people! I travelled with them on the 12 day Med cruise and it was so much fun. You will love them!!

Nope, we are on the July 10th sailing. I cannot wait!

Still waiting for my room assignment and still waiting to see in print the dates for the formal/semiformal nights. Makes me bonkers!
