May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

I'm a little worried about the Olympus. So far, on land, it seems to have slow reaction for zooming in and zooming out...and a bit of shutter delay. Not good when you're trying to shoot a fish that's swimming away!
The pictures themselves, once focused, seem really clear though.

That was my exact issue. I ended up with more blurry pictures than with the Pentax.

Nuts. I have replacement batteries for the Optio....one of my kids had been using it.....so maybe I'd better bring it along too. :headache:

I have the Olympus too. Haven't tried it in the ocean yet and have noticed similar problems with shutter speed and zooming. Still, it has got to be better than looking through the little, tiny square on a disposable camera!

Thanks for the warm welcome justmestace!

I'm going to test mine out in the pool. Even if it means freezing my tail off.

I got stop drinking, i thought two ladies just said " I need batteries for my toys and I took a underwater picture in my tub" :confused3

Are any of you worried about this swine flu? I hope none of the crew get exposed in Mexico. I am so glad this is an Eastern.

Disney will most likely divert. Two other lines have diverted from Cozumel this week. Sure hope nothing changes our cruise plans! Though I wonder if there will be a surge of handi-wipes onboard!!!

Stace, everyone still on for our Tortola day sail?? I'm going to contact the line next week and just touch base. I think I'll need to call when we dock in Tortola.

I was wondering how this will effect our cruise - I'm sure there will be passengers and crew from Mexico.
Hope we don't have any issues and also glad this is an Eastern. Love Eastern ports compared to Western.

I stuck the camera in my aquairium, took pictures of my son's Koi, turned out great, but the fish were peaved and splashed most of the night causing me to get out the mop.:laundy:

I'm not particularly worried about the flu thing itself, i'm as likely to catch it at home as i am on the cruise as far as i'm concerned. At least if i am going to catch it then i'm blooming well going to enjoy my vacation until that day.
I'm very much of the opinion when it comes to health, I'll catch what i catch and its extremely unlikely to be fatal. Plus i'm more likely to crash my car on the way to work every morning but that doesn't stop me going out in the car.

My biggest concern is that there are more cases of the flu in the US, and in particular deaths, leading the UK government issue a travel advisory against travel to the US. It'd have to be pretty bad for that to happen but not being able to get into the US is my biggest concern.

Glad your son only keeps Koi and not Piranha :lmao:

We got our docs yesterday. We also got the lime green luggage tags.

I'm a little nervous about the swine flu but we will make the most of the cruise regardless. I have already warned my girls that they need to be washing their hands thoroughly NOW!

We have that other cruise on Carnival in mid-June that stops in Cozumel (our 1 & only stop). If this is still going on then, we'll probably have a cruise to nowhere. There's no place else to stop between there & New Orleans. C'est la vie!
