May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

We are located in Ohio. You? I am sure my Tyler would love to meet your Tyler too! My boys do not know about the cruise yet...I have told them I am "thinking about one". But I showed them the DCL web site and they both think it looks like a great vacation.
I will be spending alot of time reading this thread for sure! This is awesome to meet people who will be on the same cruise...I love it!

Thanks Stacey. I've been checking back every day hoping something would pop up. I think it's odd that there are still a lot of dates/times open for Palo dinner. Wonder if the economy is making people think twice about putting out more $ on something like that.

I wonder if with this economy the cruise will be full?

We will be on this cruise...new to cruising and excited and nervous...don't know what to expect! We will be traveling with 2 boys ages 12 & 15. Anyone else have boys close in age that will be on this cruise?

Welcome to the group and cruising. Cruising is my addiction.:thumbsup2
My DD will be a month away from her 15th b'day and my DS will be 11.5.

I haven't looked at any excursions yet...just booked the cruise this past wekeend, so it is all new and overwhelming! My Tyler is 15, but not into any of the things you have mentioned...he loves video games, likes to read. Ryan is 12...almost 13, and loves to be creative (can draw just about anything and build anything with Lego's), likes video games, running, but not too much into sports...likes to shoot hoops a bit. I wasn't sure how many older kids will be on this cruise, with most still being in school. So I am glad to have found some! Any excursion suggestions??

Sounds about like Adam, loves lego, video games and of course cruising.
Where are you from?
Our kids finish school on the Friday :)

EYA I should have read thru - I see you are in Ohio.
The kids are going to have a blast.

Great...more kids close in age to my boys! School is in until June 11th this year, so they will miss 4 days. It's just the only time we could make it work...so a little homework will be done on the plane!

Just judging by this Meets thread, it doesn't look like we have too many DISer's anyway.
:confused3
Maybe everyone else on the cruise will be newbies who've never heard of the DIS. :faint:

I've never been on a cruise that hasn't been full and I guess judging by the Palo dinner availibility it's probably not a full ship as we have not been able to book dinner before unless you got it when it opened.

Either way we are going to have a blast :)

It's definitely not full yet! There's cabins in just about every category still available!

Our first two cruises were full and the one we went on in January was not. It was so strange to arrive at a half empty terminal.

It was great for upgrades though!!:cool1:

Our son is 14 by the way! Loves basketball, soccer, xbox 360... sounds like a common theme among the teenage boys!

Why are we worried about the kids, I like fine wine under $4 a bottle, homemade beer, dutch oven cooking and kilts
I have not seen a single Adult event planned yet. This is why I spend the extra cash to go on Disney, the kids are taken care of allowing us a real Adult vacation.

I'm organizing the scavenger hunt for the teens but not taking on more things to do so why don't you arrange the adult stuff :)
We could make the scavenger hunt for family's too.

My little guy will be 7 when we cruise. We have a daughter (9) and our friends are sailing with us, they have a 9 year old DD as well. I'm hoping that DS has a buddy to pal around with on the cruise. He would rather not hang with the "ladies" (that's what he calls them) the whole time.

He loves to play video games. I hear that they have an arcade or something of the sort in the kids club. I'm sure he'll love hanging out there, but we are hoping that he'll make a friend or two to play with as well.

We are getting so excited!!! :yay: pirate:

My DDs will be 6.5 and almost 9. That doesn't help your little guy though.

Friends that are cruising with us have twin 8 year olds, a boy and girl.
The kids will make lots of friends in the kids camp too.

My beloved has told me I haven't been reading the posts to closely. Someone actually recommended that I organized the ADULT activities.:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: I guess they do not know what happened on the 1st DCL west coast cruise. Oh my golly that was a cruise to remember:cool1: :cool1: I wonder if I can still squeeze into those Lime Green Speedo's for the tiniest bathing suit competion. I am still amazed they didn't toss me off the ship for the Beer Pong tourment on the top deck.
The digital camera scavender hunt was a hoot.

I ordered my fish extender from eBay. I am NOT crafty at all so I paid someone else to make it and now nobody will laugh at it!

Anyway, I found the PERFECT things for pre-teen and young girls. I'm good with the ladies too.

I need help, fellas!!!

Young boys and Men. What to get? What do you want (that I can put in a fish extender, please)? My husband has few needs. Blue Ray DVD Player and his big screen TV with surround sound. I can't put that in a fish extender. I asked him what he would want and you know what he said? "I can't think of anything". What kind of help is that?

Help????
