May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

Ouch! I just checked the prices and I'm really glad I don't have my final guest list yet. Jan/Feb fares were about $200 per person, prices for our cruise were $400! Amazingly, even Delta was cheaper!

Oh well, I'm not ready to book anyhow, so I'll hope for a sale while I'm waiting for guest list. We're driving in February....I'll see how that goes and consider driving in May also at these prices.

Where are you driving from??

Those are the best tickets:lmao:

Hmm I have some miles too - was planning a trip back to SA but who knows when that will happen cause I cannot stop cruising long enough to save vacation time and money for a long trip there:rotfl:

I have to fly to Nebraska in June, too, but it was still only $155 to fly one-way.....I'd been trying to decide whether to use the reward for Florida or Nebraska...it was closer in cost than I thought it would be...but still $100 cheaper to pay to go to Nebraska.

Hey guys! Wow...I've had some catching up to do! I haven't got any emails about posts! I'm still sick! But better than I was. I'm just hoping now that I'll be better by Christmas! UGH!

I started typing up my Disney/ AKV trip report on my web page if anyone is bored and wants some disney reading.

My trip report

Heather, did you get snow last night? We didn't. Some part of Louisiana got lots of snow. Lots of pictures emailed to me from cousins. Looks like they had a blast.

Ang

No, we didn't get any snow! They kept changing it around on the news and we really thought we'd get some, but we didn't.

We had a blast. Were able to upgrade at the port and live the suite life for a week ;) Great servers, great room steward, met a few DISers and others. And the weather was fabulous!

Oh, sounds like fun!! Good job on the upgrade!!!:woohoo:

So, fill us in. What's so special about that Mickey D's???
Ang

Adam was watching a show about the top 10 Mickey D's in the world and that one was featured so he wanted to go - this may be a good opportunity since we can drive thru Orlando in either direction - of course Aubrey hates most fast food so I will have to bribe him to go:lmao:

The Mickey Ds on International Drive is supposedly the largest one in the world. It gets a lot of the new labor saving devices first. We've seen it thru several remodelings. At one time there were arcade type games on the second floor. There are frequently discount coupons in the tourist magazines that you can get at various places.

We would be driving from Louisville, KY...about a 14 hour drive. However, for our May 23 sailing, I'll have a car full of drivers if we choose to drive. Previously, I've always had to be the only driver. Still don't know about drive vs. fly on that one. DD is graduating from high school on May 22 at 4. The flight WAS at 7, which I thought would be tight. Now it is 6:20, which would basically mean leaving the ceremony early. Interestingly, she really doesn't care about the festivities--she went last year for a friend's graduation and feels that it was "really dumb" and doesn't care if she participates!

I think I'll just chill until the guest list is finalized.

Anyone know for sure who is scheduled to be the CD?

I forgot it is the last day of school here too, both my kids move schools - DD to high school (yikes the years have flown) and DS to middle school.
Hope the schools don't have plans for the afternoon :rolleyes1

Yep. My kids may be missing that last day too ... or at least part of it. But, they get out of school at 2:20 so even if we leave at noon, they won't be missing much of the fun.

We were planning on leaving at noon too but with them both 'graduating' I hope they don't make everything for that afternoon. With them both moving to new schools they may not want to miss that parties etc. Oh well they can party OR cruise:lmao:

Forgot about the "graduating" aspect. That does throw a kink in to things.

Come to think of it, my kids may be a little upset. I'm sure you've seen in the paper about the elementary school redistricting going on. As of now, we'll be switching schools next school year. That will be the last opportunity for the kids to say good-bye to teachers & kids that won't be moving schools.

I haven't heard about the redistricting up in Alpharetta:confused3
My kids are both most likely not going to the 'regular' public schools next year so it would be the last to say goodbye to the kids that they would normally be changing schools with.

What grades are your girls in now?

Heather, so sorry you're still not feeling good! Here: :flower3: Hopefully you'll be 100% by Christmas Eve.
I know that flu hangs on and on!

The airlines are going to drive me nuts! Both Southwest and Delta have changed their flight schedules in the last week. Obviously, I'm not going to be able to make any decisions until closer to travel time. They seem to be eliminating the flights I like (Southwest 12:30, direct!) Delta eliminated their direct flights about a year ago.

Oh well, I'll quit whining....

I love the fact that DD thinks DCL is a much more important thing than high school graduation! Our invitations will go out starting on Sunday!

Are you inviting everyone on the cruise:confused3
If so I hope we all crack invites:lmao: :cool1:

My DD gets to invite four friends. One of them is an adult (I can use all the help I can get)! Yeah, I'm really nuts.

Oh well, she started her first real job today. Came home telling me how brain numbingly stupid it was--a moron could do this job....a co-worker has been there for 2 years. Didn't understand how the girl could stand it that long. However, fast food is what you can get if you aren't 18. I just refused to have her totally wasting her break, and everyone needs to do some healthy grunt work in their life. It makes you realize why you're going to college! Best of all, she won't get any spending money from me even if she asks. Yes, I'm responsible for the necessities, but not all the junk she wants.

The excursions look really good!

Great...will have to go check out the excursions!

We just booked Alaska for 2010...have been looking at those excursions, but it's making me COLD. Will have to wait and research those when it's 115° here!! ;)

What line are you doing in Alaska? We loved our trip there - great excursions and very very pricey.
