May 23, 2009 (5/23/09) E. Caribbean w/Tortola

Hi everyone!! :wave2:

Your cruise is getting so close and I know everyone's busy, busy, busy trying to get ready in time! :hyper:

I just wanted to stop by and wish you all a Bon Voyage!! :sail:

Sorry we aren't cruising with y'all this time - life got in the way. It's not all bad though, we'll be arriving at WDW on May 27th!! :yay:

Wishing you all a Magical cruise! pixiedust:

I was wondering where you were - I must have missed the post where you said you cancelled. Sorry to hear you did as I was looking forward to seeing you again.
have fun at WDW:wizard::goodvibes

I'd have to look back at the thread on the Main Boards, but I do remember that Formal night will be Sunday night and Pirate Night will be the night we're in Tortola. And I want to say that semi-formal night is usually the 2nd to the last night onboard.

Yep...I just double checked with the first Tortola group.

Sunday night.....Formal
Tuesday night....Pirate
Thursday night....Semi-formal

All others are casual.

And this is regardless of which seating or rotation you have. It's all the same.

Thanks Stacey for the information. Do you know where I can find out which restaurant we will be in for each night??

Sebrett

You can check your Key to the World card at the port. That's the soonest.

My husband and son had to convince me, and it took them almost 3 years! We kept going in and test driving....probably drove the dealership crazy. But I'm glad we waited, because we got the Clubman, which is just a bit bigger (I can actually put groceries in the back) and I like it much better than just the Mini.

And YES! I love my baby. My license plate says "ZIPPIDY".

My other car, by the way, is a YukonXL....it's weird to switch back and forth between the two.

Do you put this in the back of the Yukon on long trips?

Thanks! wish you were still going on the cruise with us, but happy that you are still going to Disney!!!! Have fun!! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! I can't believe we only have 17 days left? I'm excited but I haven't even begun to think about packing!!! We've had a lot going on. The girls have all kinds of the end of year things wrapping up. That is CONSUMING our afternoons & evening. Then there's that little thing called work that gets in the way.

This past weekend (& Monday) we went dishwasher & fridge shopping. My dishwasher died (well, actually started leaking & ruined my hardwood floor) in Dec. & we've been eating off of paper plates & handwashing since. It was time to get a new one!!! DH decided that the fridge is right next to the dishwasher so we "needed" a new one of those if we were switching to stainless. The microwave & oven will have to wait until later.

Decided to have a party at our house on Sat. Nothing like having people over to get your house cleaned! So, somehow between now & Sat., I've got to get my house cleaned ... ugh! At least it'll be still somewhat clean when we head out for the cruise.

Still waiting to see what Carnival is going to do with our June 18th cruise. So far they have cancelled all 4-night cruises out of New Orleans up until June 15th.

Ang

Wow, you are busy too!! The price of the cruise is great this time of the year, but the whole "end of the school year" stuff keeps us busy!! What is going on with your Carnnival Cruise?

Do you put this in the back of the Yukon on long trips?

LOL:lmao:

They just built a new Mini dealership, but before that, it was above the BMW dealer. The first time I went there, just after riding the elevator upstairs, I asked the saleman how they got all the Mini's up there and (duh) he said "The elevator!" I should have seen that one coming.

This is how lazy I am.
We're going to Scott McIntyre's concert Friday night. He's the blind one that was on American Idol.
Anyway....all my clothes are ironed and ready to pack.

I went to the mall today and bought a pair of capri's and top to wear Friday night. I'd rather buy new than have to wash and iron something all over again. :sad2::sad2:

:lmao:Me too! When we went to look at the Mini, it was above the BMW dealer also...BUT...there is a drive that went around the back of the building and ended up on the upper level...so I guess they drove them in that way...but that wasn't obvious at first when we had to walk upstairs to get there!

I looked at the last page for the cruise that leaves right after us on May 30...it's a Western....but they are saying that there won't be any staggered dining times. For example, I caught that they're saying for late dining, there will only be an 8:15 time.
Anyone know anything about this? Okay...ANYONE means Tracy.

I looked at the FAQ thread and it DOES say only two dining times from now on. 5:45 and 8:15. How did I miss this before???

How did I miss this? I actually set someone up for a requested time this week and told the agent since they are not on the Magic there is only one time and she agreed. I'm calling this morning. Thanks Stacey!

Is Palo still Jacket and Tie? Is that for both dinner and brunch?

Any suggestions for a first timer - my friend emailed to ask what else they needed to bring - any things you cannot live without on a cruise?
I was haing a senior moment - thought of the what is normal for me stuff:rotfl:

no tie required for Palo and no jacket required for brunch.

Just a tip. Be careful with the dress code for Palo. Last cruise I was openly embarassed in front of a large group over my attire. I had a nice jacket and slacks and a collarless dress shirt. A bit of a disply ensued as I was asked to go change. Not sure if this is new policy because I'd worn the same thing on 3 other cruises without issue. If so it should be better publicized. Maybe I just got away with it three other times!! I noticed 3 other guys having the same issue though, and they were unaware as well.

That was an odd trip all around, service in Palo was aweful and the food average at best. Might have been just a fluke but enough to sour my wife and I to the whole thing. We'll not go back... :sad2:

That said, I think you should definately go to Palo at least once, especially if this is your first cruise. Atmosphere is (usually) nice and service is typically outstanding.

Has anyone out there looked into any private sails on St Thomas? There seem to be lots of companies, hoping someone had experience...

Anyone been there before. Some very unsettling posts on forums about the safety (or lack of) on St Thomas/John

DINING

Here's what I just found out. Only the WONDER is doing the 5:45 and 8:15 dining.

The MAGIC still has the 3 different times.
So for the late dining, they still have 8:00, 8:15 and 8:30

We did a private sail out of St Thomas several years ago while we were on a Princess cruise. It took us to the same spots as the cruise line's excursions, but it seemed that we got to those places ahead of the crowds. We did have to take a taxi to their dock, I'd say it was maybe a 20 minute drive, and then we had to walk along the beach a little ways before we found them. It was a pretty area, so it was a nice walk.
Am going to see if I still have their name somewhere.

We've walked the streets of St Thomas alone, just my husband and I, and have never had any problems. Not even approached by people peddling.
:confused3
Also did an island tour of St John, and found it to simply be beautiful. Not any problems that we noted at all.

Sorry, but all reports from the Magic cruisers on the boards since 4/4/09 have only two seating times as well. I will try to locate the threads on the main board with this. :) If you are calling the 800 DCL number they are going by the info on the website...which is no longer correct.
