May 21, 2012 - Mickey's Mooseketeers Take Alaska 2012!

Getting super pumped for our trip! I think we have all of our shopping done but I still have a few questions.
1. How/when do we find out when our dining rotation is?
2. Can we wear jeans to dinner (regular ones, not the semi and formal nights)? Or do we need to plan on slacks?
3. Are there any tips you might have for newbies of things to take to make time on the ship easier/more enjoyable?
4. Is the FE list sent out on Wed the most recent?
Thanks so much! Can't wait to sail with you all in a less then 10 days!!!

Hello!!

1. I think some people have called and asked. But I usually just wait until check in. It will be encoded on your stateroom key. T=Triton's, A=Animator's Palatte, P=Parrot Cay. You'll also get a dining ticket in your stateroom to give the server the first night so they can show you to your table. However, your table number is on your key, too, so if you get there without it - they'll still seat you in the right place.
2. The jeans questions... My understanding is the Alaskan cruises tend not to be as formal. I'm not sure I'd wear jeans in the Bahamas, but we are planning on them for non-Formal/Semi-Formal nights this time. We're going to dress them up with nice blouses, jewelry, etc.
3. The biggest thing is to relax and enjoy yourself. Don't be so busy trying to fit everything in that you forget to stop and enjoy the view. (Oh, and keep an eye out for the evenings that the buffet has sit-down service, they have a fantastic steak!)
4. Yes, the 5/9 list is the most current version - although we had another new family join today! (Hi Tacomamickey! :wave2:) Once I get their stateroom info, I'll send out another update. It's looking like it will be tomorrow at the earliest, though...

Hope this helps!!

Is anyone doing a pre-cruise tour of Vancouver? I am looking into the idea as a famly way to see the city. We are taking Amtrak from Seattle on the 20th so will have time to tour the city a bit. Thanks!

It just hit me that one week from today we'll be on a plane on our way to Vancouver (a very long plane ride...with small children...what was I excited about??...). I haven't started packing yet!!!

Vancouver is the only part of the trip that we have decided to "play by ear". I have basically managed to overschedule the entire trip to Alaska and Seattle, so we thought we would just relax in Vancouver (which goes completely against my Commando tendencies, but DH wanted it). We might see Stanley Park, or Granville Island, but we're not going to do any formal tours. We have tossed around the idea of using the Hop-on, Hop-off trolley and getting off at places that appeal to us (Commando me is crying inside right now). We may also just ask at the hotel about "must-sees" in Vancouver.

We are also taking the Amtrak from Seattle on the 20th. I think we arrive around 11:30 and we have two little ones (5 and 2) so we decided to spend the day in Stanley Park. My husband has been there and said it is really nice so we are looking forward to it.
Are you on the 7:40 train?

We are on the early train. My kids (DS 9 and will be 8 DD) are excited fo rthe train! Actually, I think DS (9) is most intrested in Seattle so he has the chance to see iCarly! I was looking at pre-cruise tours that would pick us up at our hotel and deposit us and our luggage at the port as a fun mode of transportation!

Mom got the suitcases out and put some things in them today! It's hard to believe that we fly out next Saturday! :scared1:

FE participants, please check your e-mail! There's an updated list!

Hi everyone!! I bet you are getting as excited as I am! The countdown is on! :cool1::woohoo::yay:

I did lots of packing today, we fly Thursday so just 3 more days at work, I can't believe its nearly time!

Happy cruising to all the B2Bers!

Hey Does anyone have some cheap ideas for ground transportation from Seattle airport to the port?

Thanks

We are all packed and our friends arrive at 9:15 in the morning to get us! see you all in Vancouver!

We can officially start playing it! :cool1:

So, let's see - this time next week will be 6am in Vancouver and hopefully I'll still be sleeping (who am I kidding - it's the morning of the cruise, I'll be up and at the window of the hotel staring down at our beautiful ship?!).

We are staying at the Sandman City Centre...they have a cruise package with a shuttle to the port.

Finishing up FE gifts and starting to park...it must be almost time to cruise!!

We're at the Fairmont Waterfront. We decided to book through Disney -surprisingly, they had the best rate available for the Fairmont by $150 when we booked it!

I was trying to find out - is the Wonder overnighting in port on Sunday or will she leave that evening and and return for us on Monday? If she's sailing out Sunday, I thought it would be fun to go see her off!

Question- Are the kiddos allowed to wear floaties in the pools? Are they provided by Disney or do we need to bring our own? Are the pools even that deep? If they can't, is there something they can use? My son is still learning to swim. (This is just assuming that my 3 year old will want to go in the pool at least once- even if it is cold. I also read that they heat the pools if it's colder outside). Thanks!

I'm afraid I don't know for sure, but I remember seeing DCL selling the floaties on past cruises. So I would assume they don't provide them. The Mickey pool is only 2 feet deep, so he'll be fine there. The Goofy pool is 4 feet deep, so the floaties will definitely be needed!

This time next week we'll be getting ready (or at) the muster drill! :cool1:

Good one!!! :thumbsup2

we'll be enjoying a full day at sea! Gliding along the coast (and Mom and I will be viewing it from Palo Brunch!)

Hey Michelle,
How are you celebrating your b-day? DISparty or just you and your mom?
