I woke up shortly before we got to Castaway Cay and took some pictures from our verandah. Then DH and I got dressed and headed up to BBB to eat outside so we could watch the Wonder back into Castaway Cay. It was so gorgeous seeing the brightly colored sailboats and umbrellas all lined up on the beautiful white sand beach with palm trees in the background that I knew today was going to be absolutely magical. We picked out a spot at the far end of the family beach. It was a perfect location as we had an umbrella, a hammock and it was near the Head's Up bar and rest rooms. We could see all the action of the family beach but didn't have to put up with all the crowds. We loved this area so much, we never made it to the adult beach. We did go over to the pavilion with the game tables. The girls participated in the free throw contest but with their newly manicured nails didn't do too well. If it was more in view of the beach, I'm sure it would be crowded with older kids and teens as well as adults. The girls and I snorkeled. After snorkeling in Hawaii, we were a little disappointed. On the other hand, I appreciate that Disney has nets at the outer edge of their lagoon so they can keep out most of the big fish. Lunch at Cookies was ok. Lobster burgers were actually pretty good! Coming from a non-seafood lover, that is saying a lot. We also liked the ribs and the pineapple cake. I thought the salads were pretty bland especially the potato salad. We really hated to leave when they made the announcement that the lagoon was closing. I wanted to scream, "No, you can't. We haven't taken our bike ride or had a chance to go to Serenity Bay!" Oh well, I guess it will have to wait until we go on our next DCL cruise. When we got back to our rooms, we decided to sit on the verandah and watch as we sailed away. We enjoyed cheese and veggie pizzas and the chili tricolor we ordered from room service as Castaway Cay disappeared. We did a little shopping on the ship before we went to see Disney Dreams. I liked this musical as well as Golden Mickeys. Everyone else thought Golden Mickeys was a little better. We stopped by Studio Sea to check out the game show but didn't stay as we had seen Mickey Mania the first night. It would be great for parents with young children but as all adults we felt a little left out. Since we still had a little time before our dinner at Parrot Cay, we headed up to the top deck and got to see the sunset. Don't miss a sunset at sea! I can't describe how magnificient it was. I'm sure the sunrises were equally beautiful but mornings aren't really my thing! LOL! For dinner, we had the glazed chicken wings and hot crab newburg. Both of which were very good. The banana bread was really delicious!!!! Next, we had cream of sweet onion soup, fruit salad, and cold mango & papaya soup. We thought the onion soup was the best. We had the roasted rib eye of beef, the oven baked chicken and baby back pork ribs. They were all pretty good! We had the pecan pie and the lemon meringue pie. I don't know if we were getting tired of all the food but we really didn't like our desserts tonight. After dinner, we headed back to our rooms to set out our luggage. DH and I took a final stroll around the ship!
Early the next morning I heard the ship pulling into Port Canaveral. We ate breakfast at Parrot Cay. I had the blueberry pancakes which were really good! DH had the eggs your way and the girls had fruit and bakery items. It would have been very hard to get off the ship except we knew our vacation would be continuing at WDW's Beach Club Villas. We are DVC members and this is our home resort which we really love. And, my DH, who was so worried about taking this cruise, rebooked us for a 7 night. Right now, we're booked for May, 2005 but will change to May, 2006 when those dates become available. Finding our luggage was very easy even with someone picking up one of our suitcases by mistake. The porter found it for us. It was upstairs where we depart the terminal.
It was definitely a "wonder"ful cruise! I'm glad we have another one to look forward to in a couple of years.
Thanks to everyone for all their advice and suggestions!
