May 2011 Code Watch

:goodvibes
Just wanted to bump this up and get a look at my ticker!!!!
Booked at CSR for May 11 - 19. Still looking to book flights.

Desperately need this vacation!!!! :thumbsup2

I did what was suggested in previous posts: requested the vacation planning dvd and ordered the maps. I got emails for room discounts but not the free dining plan I yearn for. :confused3 I'll watch for additional specials after the first of the year. I am thinking I should also call and see if there is a pin code associated with my address....

Did you price out a trip with the room discounts you've gotten? Sometimes the room discounts can be bigger than free dining. Of course, that also depends on how many people you are traveling with. Hope you get what you're looking for soon! :)

I would love to know the reasoning for Disney not putting out a public discount for May 7 - May 14. Touring plans list this week as a fairly low crowd level week with some days as a crowd level 3. Shouldn't this mean that Disney will have empty hotel rooms??? It just doesn't make sense.

I hadn't thought of that. I'll price it out. We are taking 2 college students that can each eat more than myself + DH together so I thought the free dining plan would save us. ;) Thanks.

With 2 college students you probably will save more with free dining. However, you can find pretty decent room savings too. You could always book with one code now (like a room discount) and then if you get another later (like free dining) call back and see which one would give you a better deal.

For my upcoming May trip (since free dining isn't being offered yet) I used a room only discount. After I booked, I priced my trip without the discount and I'm saving $980 :woohoo: So for me, even if free dining becomes available, I won't be switching :thumbsup2

We're also going in May with our two college students. And I did the things you mentioned to try and get a code of some sort, but so far have gotten nothing. I would love to get a free dining discount, as that will save us more than any room discount would; but at this point I'll settle for anything I can get!

I would assume it has to do with the Destination D convention and scavenger hunt going on for the WDW 40th Anniversary. The convention is May 14th-15th and the scavenger hunt is the 12th-13th. This will bring a LOT of Disney enthusiasts down to celebrate the parks birthday.

It is a bit too early to worry that no discounts will be available. In 2007 the May discounts came out in March, in 2008 in Feb, in 2009 the buy 4 get 7 was out in Nov but other discounts out in Mar and last year they were out on 1/1.

There's something going on that week I think it called D23 Expo.

Can I make a booking with WDW res and then if a gen public code comes out call them back and have them apply it?
Thanks :)

I just called and there was a pin code attached to my name! It is for May, and we are going to stay OP on May 13-16....BUT Wilderness Lodge is ALREADY SOLD OUT for that time for Standard and Woods, Courtyard is $752 yikes!

So, we are looking at Coronado - $416 for three nights! :) Its reserved on hold for us! :)

I was fiddling around on the wdw website today and got to chat with a live agent. She said a)pincodes are not available on request you have to receive them and recommended registering (which I'd already done) and b)she was "unaware of any promotions for May 15-20 (our dates we have chosen) but that if we booked we could adjust our plans to accomodate any promotions that could be released later.

The Disney Visa card has released a kids stay/play free deal and it is available for many dates in 2011, including May. The offer on the site did say 'book this limited package before it is released to the public' so it sounds like it will be a public deal soon.

Thanks for posting this. I have a Disney Visa and haven't received anything about it. I just called Disney and they were able to apply it to my existing ressie! Thank you thank you thank you!!! :goodvibes

Update: you saved me $480!

The new promos are for my time, but a POFQ for the 2nd weekend in May they are only for King standard rooms, which end up costing more than my AAA discount! And with only one kid over 2, play free is pretty worthless for my number of nights. So bummed....

Oddly- it said the booking window opens the 3rd, but they could still see them and offered me CBR and CSR, which I didn't want bc of the size. Maybe I'll try again on the 3rd....

Just booked under the newest code (there is a separate thread on the code - I think the range is 15% - 35% depending on resort and resort level). For our hotels, CBR was 20% off, Poly 25% off (other deluxes are 30% off, except AKL which is also 25%). We saved about $1200 off our Poly rate. We also have a reservation at CBR for my parents and switched that one, too. They don't have any BLT rooms available at all at the new rates, and no pirate themed water view rooms at CBR. I believe the code is YFW for May, but in case my recollection is off, check the other thread! This offer is not posted on the Disney site yet, but is posted on the Disboard.

I am so excited about the kids stay/play discount!! I can't wait to book it Monday!
