May 2008--Everything's Coming Up Roses -- COMPLETE

My dad's birthday is coming up and my mom suggested that we give him $$ toward the Segway Off-Road tour at Fort Wilderness. What fun! I immediately said of course...and I'd love to do it too. Asked DH and he wants to go too. Then my mom offered to watch DD while we do the tour. Woo hoo!!

So I'm calling tomorrow to see if they still have availability.

I've never been on a Segway before -- this should be lots of fun!

Ok, here are the restaurants we chose. I tried to mix it up a bit so we are adding six new ones this time.

May 3 - no ADRs, since this is our Fly In day and not sure if we'll priceline or use Disney value hotel yet.

May 4 - Le Cellier Dinner with parents.
I don't know how this restaurant can have such favorable and ugly reviews?!? We've been there twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, several years apart and both times were fantastic -- steaks Med Rare, juicy, wonderful service, great bread!

May 5 - Coral Reef Lunch with parents.
I'm worried about this one. My mom wants to eat here so I agreed but the only comment I always here is "great scenery, bad food".

May 5 - Grand Floridian Cafe Dinner, DATE NIGHT!
Normally we go to Ca Grill or Narcoosee's for our date night, but we decided to try a 1 credit place this time. I'm also worried about this one -- not b/c of the food, I'm sure it will be good, but since it's our date night, we normally like to go to someplace extra nice and I'm not sure this qualifies. But since parents have volunteered to watch DD, we get a night out -- woo hoo!!!

May 6 - Spoodles Dinner with parents
This is another new restaurant for us. Since we'll be at the BCV, I wanted to choose a place we could walk to and explore the Boardwalk for one night.

May 7 - Norway Princess Dinner with parents
We've eaten at Norway before when it was not a princess dinner, so we wanted to try this one, esp as DD likes the princesses. I'm a bit worried since some other DIS friends went here and said the princesses just zoomed by and hardly interacted at all. I've been warned that food is kind of "bland" but we enjoyed it last time so hopefully it's still good.

May 8 - No ADRsThe plan is to go to Yak & Yeti Counter Service and try out their food for dinner. This is a pool day for us (so far!) and my parents leave to visit friends or one of the other parks (Cypress Gardens I think). Yak and Yeti is new for us.

May 9 - Hollywood and Dine Lunch
We'll take DD to this character meal. Last time we didn't go to MGM at all. I'm really hoping that they are going to change the characters for this lunch to match the show (Little Einsteins, Mickey Mouse, Handy Manny, etc). We haven't eaten here before and I don't hear much about it.

May 10 - San Angel Inn Dinner
Even though DD will be with us for this meal, I still think of this as a romantic place to eat. We haven't eaten here before but I'm really hoping we get a table where DD can watch the boats go by. That will keep her attention the whole meal! I may just tell them when we check in that we are willing to wait a bit longer in order to get the better table -- wonder if they will let us? Guess it depends on how busy they are...

May 11 - Le Cellier Lunch for Mother's Day with parents
My parents come back to join us for Mother's Day. Both mom and I agreed we wanted to eat here again. I'm hoping to try a non-steak entree just to get something different...but I know their steaks are just incredible!

May 12 - Go Home :sad1:

So what do you think???

OK, I am slow I forgot I had read you ressies earlier in the thread........LOL. Anyway we are not eating at any of the same places and the only one I can even make a comment on is San Angel Inn. My husband and I ate there 3 years ago and it wasn't all I expected(except the margarita)but we were able to get a table near the railing so we had a great view.

So not a good meal at San Angel Inn? Oh well -- I guess I'll just go into it not expecting much -- except a margarita!!

My goal is to try all the Disney restaurants before I can no longer go to Disney anymore. As I said earlier, I'm quite nervous about many of these restaurants but if I just keep going back to my favorites, I'll never get to experience some new favorites!

But I suspect for every positive review there is a negative one too.

Le Cellier is my abso fav non-signature dining restaurant but I know several people who had a bad experience and won't go back there at all.

So where are you eating?

The Mickey book looks great. What type of book did you use and what type of things are you going to put in it?

The 8x8 album I purchased from Michaels. It's made by EK Success and here is a picture of it w/o my additions.

I'm adding 38 pages of ABC's (A = Ariel, Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride and Animal Kindgom; B = Buzz LIghtyear, Belle, Bashful, Boats, etc). Then I'll put a cover page and back page. Each page will have any of the following: Ribbons, buttons, stickers, Stickles (glitter), journal box, photos, place for character to autograph, brads, etc.

Right now I'm going through A-Z to make an outline of what I want on each page...then I need to pick the individual pieces and put it together. It's a 3 stage process for me. Normally I just do it all at once, but since this is a large, related book, I want it to look like page "D" complements page "S".

I have never been to Le Cellier(I want to but my bunch :( no go). It wasn't that San Angel Inn was bad it was just not what I expected. We have a lot of Mexican restaurants where I live and it was about the same taste wise but, MUCH more expensive. The chips and salsa were like bag and jar taste. Anyway the food was OK.

I want to eat at Le Cellier so badly. I love to try new foods but the majority of my group are so picky they will not eat hardly anything.

We are eating at---------------

Arrival day May 3rd we are going to DTD and Disney Quest and eating at Wolfgang Puck CS

May 4th we are going to MK and plan on eating at The Plaza for dinner 7pm

May 5th------------Breakfast at Crystal Palace 810am, then later in the day go to Epcot

May 6th-- AK in the morning and DHS in the afternoon---------Kona Cafe Lunch 1pm, Dinner at Planet Hollywood at 7pm

May 7th Free day (water parks) then to DHS for dinner at Mama Melrose's and fantasmic

I would love feedback on these ressies. I have changed them so many times due to my picky eaters. I would love to just divide up and my and oldest DS go eat where we want too.............:rotfl: :rotfl:

I haven't tried Wolfgang Puck yet but I hear good reviews to eat there if you are in DTD. We'll probably go there too at some point. I definitely need to re-look at our schedule and figure out when to go shopping!!

I was very close to picking Plaza restaurant in MK...but our MK day is always so busy just doing the rides that we don't really have time to do a sit-down dinner and get DD back in time to nap.

However, I think DD is starting to outgrow her naps...we are doing it about every 3 days now...

I haven't heard a bad thing about Crystal Palace -- in fact I hear it's the best Character/buffet meal at Disney. I just haven't tried it yet since Pooh and I don't get along! :lmao:

I love Kona Cafe! The food is good but I just love the atmosphere. Try to get a table near the walkway and it's fun to people-watch and look at the waterfalls and plants. If you drink alcoholic beverages, the Lapu Lapu is cool -- served in a whole pineapple shell! Worth the picture alone!

We ate at Planet Hollywood in DC. Fun, VERY loud, basic food that's good. A great place to walk around and see all the memobilia but did I mention it's loud? And on a weekend it's just crazy.

I haven't done Mama Melrose either.

So please remember to come back to this thread after your trip and give an update on these restaurants (or provide the link to your TR...I need to check your siggie now to see if you are doing one...I'm so behind on reading everyone's TR...)

Hey Racefanof88,
I like some of your dinner choices. I am going to Disney almost the same days as you are. I am doing Le Cellier not because I am from Canada, but it is really a good place to eat. We decided to do some new ones this time too. Iam doing Whispering Canyon Cafe, Trail's End, Coral Reef, Chef Mickey's(breakfast) and Liberty Tree Tavern.

We love Chef Mickey's but they really didn't have anything at the time we wanted :( I am looking forward to some of the choices we made as it will be the first time for all but Crystal Palace. I really wanted to do Le Cellier and Coral Reef but, again my picky eaters...............:rolleyes1 . I hope to meet fellow DISers on this trip. I can't wait.

We loved WCC -- what fun! As you know, I just love Le Cellier!

Trail's End is just simple, good and very inexpensive food (don't waste you Table Service Credit here though -- just pay the cash).

I haven't done the others -- will be doing Coral Reef this trip too!

We did Chef Mickeys dinner and I hear the breakfast is much better! Dinner was average.

OK here is a picture of the shirts.

This is the shrit my husband and 2 sons will be wearing. And on the back, it says "Still Undefeated"..............lol next year will be their first year for football.

And of course this one is mine.........LOL

And DD will be red also, it just says University of South Alabama. We haven't decided what day to wear them yet and I still have to go get some lime green stuff............lol.

I have not done a pre-trippie thing. I was going to but just got lazy and knew I would not update it as much as I should...........lol. I am planning on doing a post trip report but, I make no promises....................lol. I will give updates on the food though. I can already give one. We acutally ate at the Crystal Palace.................ummmmmmm 6 years ago.............gosh.........anyway it was wonderful. Hubby likes Chef Mickey's the best but I like the idea of getting in the park early............lol.

We were planning on using a table service for the meal at Trail's End, so you dont' think it's worth it. Now I don't know what to do with the other table I will have if I don't use that one. Any thoughts??

Just catching up Marshay!

Absolutely love the Mickey ABC book! You are very crafty ;)

Woo Hoo :cool1: On the Segway tour! I would love to do that someday!

Well, you can always schedule a breakfast to use the TS even when you have a dinner planned in the evening. Or go to All Ears . com and check out the menu and prices for Trail's End...I just remember several years ago it was significantly cheaper than the others).

Also, what about one of the restaurants at Epcot at the countries for an early lunch on one of the days you have a late dinner.

Finally, don't forget the day you checkout you can still use the TS credit until midnight that night. So depending when you depart, you can use this, too!

I hear ya!! Majorly excited...now starting to wake up excited for no reason...I think it's just because I more focused on our trip.
