May 2, 2014 - A WONDERous trip through the Locks WBPC

Wow gorgeous, I need someone like you to shop for me, I am just "shopping my closet" for a gown unless I happen to see something (unlikely as I never get to go shopping anymore)

Sometimes I visit the bridal shops for gowns. I need to visit there soon!
I have seen some great gowns at some great prices there.

Did anyone notice that

Jack is Back!!

Do we get Fox on a Disney cruise??? I loved 24!

hee hee maybe I'll wear my wedding gown, it's actually not a wedding gown but a vintage 30's looking long dress. I was thinking it might be wearable again if I had a formal event to go to but I always second guess myself because I wore it to my wedding so to me it *looks* like a wedding gown.

Oh my goodness, the gowns are gorgeous! Hmmmm, maybe I should pack a tad more dressy!

Thanks. For me getting to dress up is a huge thing. Unfortunately DH does not quite share my love for it.

I actually get my dresses through Ebay and they are custom-made in China. I found that there was extremely slim pickings for plus-sized evening gowns and they one that you can find are nothing special and terribly expensive. So since our Transatlantic cruise in 2010, I usually have a special dress or two made.

That sounds amazing.

Ladies(and gents) I love to see you all dressed up, and ladies, it needn't be a dress or gents, a tux or suit:). But it is great wandering round and seeing you all. I hope more of you do so this time though I understand those not wanting to for whatever reason(packing, flights, dislike of dressing up etc) We have come late to cruising, formal nights and dressing up like this in general. Never went to balls etc. So it is still special. We always change for dinner anyway.

Marilyn, this is exactly how I feel. I also dress for dinner. I like getting the photo CD and the photos look great with the various dresses.

The gowns have arrived this morning. This was a lovely surprise as I never received any notification that they had shipped. I suddenly got an email from our ladies in the sales office to let me know that there are a couple of packages for me. I was expected one from Amazon, but had no idea what the second one may be. In the end it turned out that it was actually three packages and two of them were the gowns. Two of them were roughly what I had expected, but even prettier than what I had hoped for. One is a true Wedgwood blue with bright royal blue accents and the other is a pale lilac with Cadbury purple accents. I have decided to wear the blue one for the second formal night and the lilac one for semi-formal night.

The dress that I had made for the first formal night with the Golden Mickeys theme was a surprise. There must have been something lost in translation between the manufacturer in China and me. The dress is gold as I had requested, but instead of the dark blue embroidery that I had requested, it is actually a lovely shade of dark purple. I think I prefer this to what I had originally pictured.

Sounds beautiful! I hope I will get to see you in that golden mickey dress, it sounds so unique!

I have to agree with you - to each their own, but wearing shorts and shirts on formal night is a tad sad. I know our boys love dressing up - it makes them feel special, since it is the only times they will wear a tie all year. With all of the good discount clothing stores or ebay, there is a low cost way of getting clothes to make the occasion special. I have never brought my tux,but I go Southern and bring my seersucker suit - fun to wear and feels tropical!

Yup - I bought my son a seersucker suit a year and a half ago when he was 3. We are not dress up people day-to-day (hubby and I can wear jeans and tennis shoes to work without anyone flinching) but he has gotten so much use out of it! He knows he looks handsome in it and often asks "Can I wear my suit?"if we are going someplace special. We let him, even if it is only someplace *he* thinks is special. The attention he gets and people telling him that he looks like a proper gentleman make him literally puff up with pride. A couple of times he's asked for a "date night with mommy" and will ask to wear his suit for that.

Best investment I ever made. I paid a grand total of $22 for that suit plus shirt and tie at Burlington Coat Factory. :)

Corinna, I love how you always have these beautiful dresses. so pleased they all arrived safely and that even the one not as you requested is even better!! Looking forward to seeing you and them.

Mine are pretty boring and i could do with a few lbs off before I wear them, plus a shape wear or two:rolleyes1.

We have late dinner so we will be at the second Captain's Welcome reception. Other than that, I will be in the character lines.

Plotting new dresses is half of the joy of planning a cruise. Every time I get more and more pleased with them.

For one of the semiformal nights I will be wearing my new Minnie Mouse Dress. My DD will be in a dress similar to mine. Can't wait.

Hi! Newbie here! Excited to go on this fabulous cruise in 42 days with the hubby and in-laws! It's our 2nd DCL cruise. 1st one was Dream 2011. I'm confident that we will enjoy the smaller ship more after reading some of your posts about coming back to the Magic & Wonder. Can't wait to sit by the pool with a cool refreshing adult beverage! (And celebrate my birthday while on board!)

Any more interest in the Farewell luncheon? Or in the Candy Exchange?

PS. Welcome Kimmy510, to the Disboards and this thread!
