May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

The MAYFlowers have a distinct advantage as they have over 160 people registered on their roll call (I really MUST be bored in my Alabama hotel room). :lmao: There are just under 100 Magical Mayniacs.
I agree, you must be bored. Either that or just plain nosey. :rotfl2:

I wonder why more people on the DIS chose the Eastern instead of the Western? :confused3

Ashlotte, are you out there? Did you get our new FE member?

Welcome, Fluffycat (great name!). :welcome:

Thank you!!! I can not wait to meet everyone. My kids are so excited to join the kids club. Anybody have a 9 or 5 year old? My oldest son is 18 years old and unfortuntaely he will still be in College at RIT. We have a disney timeshare and he enjoys coming with us to Disney. Hopefully next disney cruise he will be there too. Can I still buy the bracelets?
Thanks.:goodvibes

So sorry, the bracelets arrived today, give me a day or so to see how many extras I have, if I do, they are yours! :)

FluffyCat-There are a few folks on this board who are DVC members! We were able to use some of our points for the cruise, but this IS our first cruise, so we're really excited!:banana::banana:

Cdfl-Thank you so much for your kind words:hug: Thankfully, I am just fine. On Monday, ewww, ouch, and boo hoo but MUCH better now! And for once, I'm glad I have a little "extra padding" on my bum!:rotfl:

Oh oh, hope you are alright too! You have to stay away from those mean golf carts! Wow, wish it was nice enough here to start golfing. Our first golf game will be two days before we cruise, we are meeting up with some friends in Florida, should be an interesting game after not golfing all winter...:scared1:

Hey Pink, just pm'd you, there are actually two new FE families, AKcruiser and Fluffycat. I think Ashlotte is still house hunting and probably burning the candle at both ends. She needs some pixie dust for sure!:wizard:

Perhaps we could have an updated list by the weekend so that everyone can start their shopping?

The challenge is still on to reach page 100 by May 1st.

Nonetheless, here is the 'other' score:

  • [*]MAGICal MAYflowers: Page 81
    [*]MAGICal MAYniacs: Page 82
The MAGICal MAYflowers are the May 9 Eastern. They will be boarding as we debark. party: Too bad for them. party:

Wow! I didn't realize that we had that many.

I would think we can hit 100, everyone seems to be posting a lot more frequently now!!! :goodvibes

I noticed that bluenopink lives in Cary, NC. We live in Cary too!

About booking so late, our house in FL is 20 minutes from the port and we have been lucky enough to get great deals by waiting to book late. Plus so many times, our lives are so unpredictable that last minute is the only way. We are really excited to be going!!

Brenda

Oh, I forgot to ask. Could we also purchase some wristbands? Thanks.

Brenda

I am packaging the bracelets today and I am not sure if I will have any left, I did order a couple of extra because you have to order in mulitiples of 5. I did promise some to Fluffycat if I have any left. Let me look, perhaps I can put in another quick order if there are enough people that still want them . Can you give me a day or so to figure it out.

Thanks:goodvibes

Welcome to the new families. We are all going to have a great time. DW is going to need this cruise. Tax season is really getting to her. She is going to be really stress between now and the cruise.

I know that drive all too well. We had season tickets to the Jaguars' games the first 5 seasons. :car: Did you know that I grew up near Bolles?

I meant to respond to this sooner, I have been so forgetful lately. I know where Bolles is, isn't that area known as Lakewood? There are some beautiful neighborhoods in that area. I visited Epping Forest a few years back for a work related luncheon, it was a very nice place. I live in the southern part of Mandarin off Loretto Road. I moved to Jacksonville when I was 21 about 10 years ago, but grew up in a small town near Gainesville.

My Husband and his Dad also had Jaguar season tickets for at least the first 5or so seasons. He is also a Jaguars fan but is more into Philles baseball. I'm not all that into sports myself... I love that short period between Superbowl and Baseball Spring Training where I don't have to compete with what game is on TV :sad2:

Hi, we just booked our cruise yesterday, nothing like waiting for the last minute.

Our family going on the cruise is myself, 48, DH Mark, 48, DS Nicholas 7, and DS Mara 6. We are originally from Alaska and moved to FL in 2006. In 2008 we moved to NC. We still consider ourselves to be Alaskans.

This will be our first week long cruise on Disney. We have done a 3day and a 4 day.

We would like to join the FE group if possible.

It is great to have a group started.

Brenda

Alaska must have been a neat place to live!! My Grandparents used to drive their RV from Lakeland, FL to Alaska every summer to camp. I always wanted to go but was too young. If I ever get over my fear of flying, I would love to make it up there some day. Was moving from AK to FL a major culture shock?

When I lived there, Epping Forest was usually referred to as the Dupont Estate. The area to the east was called "the forest" and Lakewood is a little bit to the north. Nonetheless, my 'elderly' mom now lives very close to you right off of I-295 and St. Augustine Rd.

Back in June or July of last year, I posted (yes, I've been on this board for a lonnnnnng time) about fantasy football. My DW is affectionately known as a football widow - when the season starts, football gets all of my attention. :surfweb: There are stats, injuries, and players to keep up with. That's not to say that my DW and I had a lot of fun the first 5 years of the Jaguars. That is, until she got pregnant and that's when we canceled our seats. I have taken my DS to one game since then but he got bored after one quarter. Go figure - I told him that NOW is the time to scream and holler, but he just sat there quietly. He usually saves all that pent up energy at home. :hyper:

We don't have either of those booked, but it is true, the excitement is truly starting to build.

I hope that everyone likes the bracelets, I will take a pic and post it asap. They are green with white lettering, the neon green ended up being see through so they are a regular green, but still nice!! :goodvibes

As they say "It's the thought that counts!" Thank you Laura for going out of your way to provide the bracelets. Out of the 2000-something passengers on the ship, there will be small group of us wearing green bracelets that bear a special meaning. :grouphug:

cdfl30,

Yes, from Alaska to Florida was a major shock to us, we didn't make it!! We love Disney but living there was not our cup of tea. Alaska is kind of a free spirit type place focusing on the outdoors and families whereas Florida is a very structured place with focusing on seniors and golf in the area that we lived in FL.

It is absolutely beautiful place to visit, I drove from AK to FL. Parts of Washington and Tennessee were close to the beauty of AK. I really would encourage you to visit AK if you have a chance. Drive to Washington and take the cruise both ways! Or you could drive to Skagway and ride the ferry back to WA. We drove down and took the ferry.

We are looking forward to meeting everyone.

We are back from a long day of airports and airplanes and just plain exhausted! Let me introduce myself first! Traveling were my DH, DD 3, DD 9, and myself. This was our first ever cruise on the Wonder or ever!
We got there by the skin of our teeth on 3/22. Disney booked our air. We didn't get to the ship and into our room until almost 3:30pm. We hadn't eaten anything all day because we had to take two flights. So we called to order room service and they said they couldn't send anything out because of the Muster drill. What to do? We were acting like a bunch of crazed maniacs! Room Service called back and said they would deliver it and had it there in about 5 minutes! We had to pile the food in and were still eating when they made the announcement for the drill!

Warning! all you first timers. You will be on a "MOVING" ship! I felt like we were in the scene in "Pirates:At World's End" when Jack is trying to turn the ship over. I couldn't even walk a straight line down the hall. I brought some Dramamine but that didn't work so I went down to the Medical Center at deck one and got some pills for free that lasted 12 hours. The boat rocked all night and we hardly slept.

One more night in this Alabama Hotel Room. :woohoo:

I think people are affected by the motion about an hour and a half after the ship sets sail (around 6:30pm). Sober people walk around like they are drunk - bouncing from side to side. LOL. The Dramamine (or other medicine) should be taken according to the directions. For me, I apply the patch about 11:30am. Don't forget to drink plenty of water. If you are concerned as I am about getting seasick, take it easy with the food and alcohol the first nite. There will be plenty of food available the next 6 nites. And finally, consider those ginger tablets; they're supposed to be good for you anyhow.:cool2:

zerog if you have been on the DIS for a long time, what does that make me? :scared1:
