May 19 - 24, 2014 San Diego to Vancouver

Are we the only ones from the Southeast so far?

I think so. It will be fun to meet people from other parts of the country/world. I grew up in Philadelphia, lived in Kentucky for a long time, and also lived in Germany and Bahrain. Alabama is my last stop. I love it here!
:goodvibes

I am willing to do it, any ideas on how to become the admin?

The original admin would have to make you an admin. If he isn't around at all I would suggest starting a new group maybe best and posting the link in the old group and explaining the situation to everyone there

I made a one-night reservation at the VGC for a studio on May 17th as a pre-cruise treat! I get off work at 5p on the 16th, will go to DLR for 2 days/1 night, then will head down to San Diego to get on the cruise! Still haven't decided whether to stay in SD or at the VGC the night of the 18th. It would make me nervous to get on the train Monday morning so close to sailing, but I also hate getting there super early to port then waiting to get on the ship. Hmm ...

It looks like about a 10 minute walk from the Amtrak station to the port. Wonder how that will be with luggage?

That's probably true. There weren't but 4 of us in addition to the admin that had joined the group anyway.

Hi Everyone :beach:

I checked in a million pages ago, but we were undecided at the time so didn't join the "official" roll call. Please add us!

So far it's just me and DD (age 5). We're interested in the FE and I'd love to join in on any adult group activities like tastings or brunches.

I noticed that there are a lot of 5YO's on this cruise. Would anyone like to do a kid-meet on either the 1st day or the 2nd day after lunch so that the kids can make friends before starting the Kids Clubs? Let me know if you're interested!

Can't wait to meet everyone :wave2:

Glad you decided to join this sailing after all. Got you added to the roster, and you will need to go here to send your information for the FE

There are no other events organized at this time, either for adults or the kids, but I am sure these will start happening as time gets closer.

Us too! Are you doing the B2b? Or flying home fr Vancouver?

No b2b for us sadly. This is our first disney cruise, so we need to get used to the pricing and save up for our next one :). With 3 kids it can be pretty expensive. We'll also be taking dd out of school for a week. We haven't decided if we're flying home from Vancouver or Seattle. I'd like to take the Amtrak down to Seattle, but we'll see. Are you in the city or outside? We're a bit north of the city, but still in SD.

This is our first one also. I do want to stay in Vancouver for at least 2 days and then either fly home from Seattle or Vancouver. I'm with you on the deciding. Guess we have plenty of time ! We live in Victorville.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to chime in that we are from LA.

Taaren mentioned taking the train down to SD on the 19th. I hadn't thought about that. I was thinking we might rent a car and stay in a hotel near the port. But the train is an intriguing idea. Thanks for mentioning it!

And Lilpooh, it would be great to get the kiddos together!

I'd want to try to get the kids together too...it's always nice to have a friend or just a familiar face when going somewhere new :)

We are coming from Anniston, Alabama

Hey there, I was wondering if you had talked to Disney and if they had released any suggestions for hotels in the San Diego area yet? I know we are still far out, but I also know how time slips away and all of a sudden it is time to get on the ship.

I may give them a call myself today to see if I can get any answers.

We will be making arrangements to ride in by train to SD after a few days in DL to start the trip. Planes, trains, and boats...our boy is very excited!

Awesome. As the cruise gets closer maybe we can post a notice for a Kid-Meet on the first page of this thread. :thumbsup2

Where in LA are you from? A long time ago I lived in Santa Monica for school. I went there recently for a doctor's appointment and the driving just killed me. Took me 1 hour to get from the National Blvd exit area to Santa Monica. :faint:

Yay! DD is a bit shy when she first meets other kids, but once they get familiar then it's like they've known each other forever. :)

The price for this cruise continues to rise like crazy. 11B is now $825 per adult.

I noticed that too! I wanted some friends to come with us but we booked on Day 2 and it was cheap then. Now it's actually a bit overpriced for having only 1 port....

We're coming from Sacramento.

We went ahead and made reservations for a few nights in San Diego prior to the cruise. If any of you are considering staying there the weekend before, I would recommend making reservations now. I was told that at least one of the major universities is having graduations that weekend, so quite a few hotels are already sold out. :scared1: My first attempt was at Embassy Suites; the on-site reservation clerk was very helpful and tried several of the local Hilton HHonors properties but quite a few were already booked solid. I secured a reservation at the Homewood Suites - Liberty Station which looks very nice.
