May 18, 2013 MAGIC EBTA - Who is with us?

We are planning on spending a couple days in Barcelona then a few days in Paris and DLP. We can get airfare from Paris to Minneapolis for 489.00 with only one 1 hour layover. I can't book the flight yet because I still haven't officially got the vacation approved at work. :confused3. I'll be mad if flights go up too much.

I'll also say that went through our minds as well - natural disasters and someone else handling our flight plans. Then I figured only hubby has to get back to work, and if the girls and I get an extended vacation or time in Europe elsewhere, it's just a new adventure ;) Of course anything can happen we can't predict, as any of us who have worked in the airline industry can attest to.

Hi everyone,

I just want to jump in here & say hello & that we hope to join you on this cruise in May!! :wave2:

I've been looking at this cruise for quite a while now....and while I'm still not 100% sure we can do it, it's been good to read about so many people booked & to see some familiar cruisers in the group, as well as new ones we haven't yet met!!

DS20 (soon to be 21) was set to graduate from college next spring in June, and I booked a DCL Med/Greece cruise for his special graduation cruise (the one we have been promising him for years!!)... :thumbsup2

Turns out we may really be able to do it now after all...at the moment, DS is set to graduate early this year, so we would move the Med we have scheduled to this one!!

So now the only other problem I have is that I had promised him we could finally cruise in a big suite for his graduation cruise (namely the Roy or Walt suite), and this one is all booked up in that department!! Even the 1 bdrms are gone, which is not surprising given how long it's been out... still, it does put another possible wrench into the machinery...lol

So anyway, sorry for the long story, but I hope to join in here and get involved in some of the prep, since it looks totally doable now. I sent a request into the fb page, so hopefully I can try to catch up a bit there too.

Have DCL wait list you for a suite on this sailing and they will call you if one becomes available.

Yes...and a present for us as well...lol :thumbsup2

Oh that's genius!! I honestly didn't even think of that option....sigh...

Thanks for the reminder one can do that!!! And if I'm lucky I can even afford it if we get the call! :lmao:

Great to see you on here, Bev! :) And YAY for his early graduation! :yay: I think that's what pushed me through my undergrad quicker... the opportunity to MAKE money versus PAY money longer LOL. But I think a big cruise would have definitely pushed me harder as well ;)

Thanks, Mandy!! I'm hoping it all works...! And I'm so happy to be cruising with you again!

I'm rethinking the 'big' suite now & going to try for a 1 bedroom I think, because this is just his BA (he had planned to go to law school, so we need to keep a better prize in the offing)! :rotfl: Lately I think he's just weary of school in general, and that may not pan out anymore. Oh well, we will see...

I see lots of discussion about airfare...that will be really interesting to see if we have some good options later. It's early enough in June that hopefully it will be the end of shoulder season & not quite "summer" yet, but who knows?!

good luck on that!! This is my graduation present from my fiance. I will walk in early May with my masters...I feel your son's pain - I am SO over school right now. Been in school with only a semester break every couple of years since 1996. I am SO done with it!

Looking forward to a long cruise, many sea days.

Maybe you could get two cabins - one just for him. I think at his age that would be fantastic. I know my daughter would love it :thumbsup2

I will walk in early May with my masters...

An early congratulations!! :cheer2: I know what a big relief that will be to be finished with it!

Would you believe I even skipped out on my graduation ceremony for my master's? I had one child about 15 months old, and had moved, so I figured it just wasn't worth the hassle going through the ceremonial part. I should have done it just to do it, but oh well, live and learn. :thumbsup2 Now, if I had been skipping it to take a Transatlantic CRUISE, well, then that would have been soooo worth it. ;)

Congratulations!! Sounds like you've really worked hard for this! :thumbsup2
And thanks for the well wishes for my waitlist..lol
I was in & out of school for yrs & it took me forever, so I probably am pushing staying in school & doing it all at once too much!! :cool1: I agree, a cruise, especially one as sea day-intensive as a TA is a great way to wind up a degree...any degree, actually!!

That's a good idea too! So far we are waitlisted for a 'T' but we'll see how that goes. DH is focused on ordering some meals from the regular restaurants now, lol, so he is the one attached to concierge at the moment!! :rotfl2:

I did the same thing! At the time it didn't seem important, but it definitely is a moment to join with others to savor your accomplishments..and to celebrate!! We will be headed back to the States mid June to attend the ceremony for DS (assuming all goes well), and now, as a mom, I'm so looking forward to it.

Congratulations on the Master's. That's a wonderful accomplishment! And what a way to celebrate!

Booked today. This will be our first TA and first 14 night. This is our 13th Disney Cruise. We are DVC members. The members in our party will be: me Susan, DH John and DD Emily (23). The cruise leaves on John's BD and the 22nd is our 37th wedding anniversary. I just retired about a month ago from The Social Security Administration after 37 years of service. I now work at our church as the office administrator for the Youth Ministry. Not much of a retired life but I'm having a great time.

Sorry to ramble but I am so excited and can't wait to meet you all. I'm working my way through the thread but am only on page 21.

The FB group is called Disney magic EBTA Galveston to Barcelona 2013, just do a search for it and then ask to join and we'll accept your request.

Can't figure out how to ask to join the FB group. Can someone invite me (susan reed) please or tell me how to send a request. FB is always a challenge for me. Kids tell me it's because I'm over 50 :)

NEVERMIND! Sent a request thru a different link on an earlier page.
