May 18, 2003 Wonder

mcfamily:

Your daughter and my daughter will be in the club together (if my daughter decides to stay in the clubs ;) ). My daughter is 3.5 (acts like 8 sometimes!). Glad to have you!

mcfamily:
My DD is not yet 2 and I saw your son is 1.5. Will he be going to Flounders Reef Nursery? I'm just curious as to some ideas on what all you plan with a little one his age.

Sam:
I most likely will get my family some green ribbons. Are we just to wear them around our necks or what? I was thinking about going to home depot and trying to find some of those lime green Mickey heads to pin on us somewhere! Also, we're probably going to be doing a lot like your family...just chilling on the boat most of the time, but I have to get off in Nassau for souveniers! I hope we get to meet.

By the way, yes this is our first Disney Cruise.

You can always tie your ribbon around the lanyard that holds the KTTW card. Lime green is hard to miss.

Tlens,
Rest assured that you will make the trip with your Dis Board family. We will act as your Human Shield so that you may pass beneath the Mickey Ears at the Port.

As always, I have decided to begin our mini vacation a day earlier by spending Saturday night at the Radisson. Although it's only a 2 and a half hour drive, we will be beside ourselves, so we might as well get the driving out of the way, relax by the pool, visit Ron Jon's and gaze lovingly at our ship from the hotel balcony.

Have a great weekend,
Dawn Hope

Dawn - we're also staying at the Radisson the night before ;) I got us one of those Jacuzzi suites and we were planning on eating at Flamingoes for dinner - is it an OK place to eat - we don't have a car and don't really want to go away from the hotel, although I was considering getting a cab down to wave the Magic off but then I could be missing precious pool time ;) I'll see how I feel on the afternoon. We expect to check in around 3ish.

Univfire & all - please all do make the effort with the lime green ribbon. I always wear mine normally pinned on my fanny pack but for the cruise I hope to have mine pinned to my "passporter hanging thingymabob" (if it arrives here in time) or my lanyard.

I hope to bump into you all :) I'm still trying to persuade Paul to wear a tropical shirt of the Tropical Party.

Whilst it's my first Disney Cruise, Paul has cruised before and therefore is a member of the castaway club - do they still do a special party for members? Who here is a CC member? Will you go to that party?

The other thing that we're sort of stressing about is what Paul should wear - he has suits for work but you know we live in the UK and therefore the suits aren't very Summer-like LOL - I can't get him to wear a blazer with his smart holiday trousers because he says that a blazer has too much brass on and that he'll look too nautical. I then said why don't you just take a tux and then he said "coz no-one wears them on the DCL 3/4 day trips". He's totally stressing me out - I want him to look smart but not drab. He's now talking about wearing one of his work jackets with his new trousers and short sleeved collared button down shirt - do you think this'll be OK? I wanted him to wear a tux to Palo's ::sigh::

What seating is everyone on? We're on 2nd seating (well I hope we are we don't get our cruise docs until we arrive at WDW on the 8th May)

TTFN

Time is flying by!I can't wait!Lime green ribbon will be tied to my fanny pack also.We have second seating at the moment, but we are trying to change it to first seating.DH prefers it.We are leaving here ourselves on May 17 as we are staying overnight at Disney All Star Movies.I will have to check the Radisson out as everyone keeps talking about it.I assume it is really close to port.
I talked to Disney Cruise Line the other night, and this particular cruise is sold out.I couldn't believe it.Come on May 18th!!!!

Sorry for taking so long to join the thread, but we have had to take a bit of a break and get some things done around the house and at work before the big trip. WE are myself, DH, my DW and two children DD5 and DD7mths., will be staying at the Radisson May 17th the night before the 4 day cruise. This is our 2nd DCL cruise, our first last May on the Wonder for 3 Days. It was such a great trip that we had to come back, even with our new addition. Actually, I guess in away it is her 2nd cruise on the Wonder, last May my DW was 19 weeks pregnant. For the 1st time cruiser's, we were amazed by the amount of fun and excitement Disney has to offer to everyone. The Wonder is the most beautiful ship in our opinion and plan on making it part of our traditional vacationing experience as the kids growup. You will not be disappointed, believe us. Just ask everyone on the boards, they wouldn't be fibbing. We are celebrating our DD5's Birthday on the 19th and are travelling with another couple from our neighborhood, also with 2 DD's the same ages as our own.
We are staying in a Cat 11 on deck 6, which is where we stayed last year and loved it. Last year we went to Blue Lagoon in Nassau, it was a great trip and enjoyed it very much. However, for something different, we are staying on the ship, so that we can truly enjoy its beauty and explore since we did not have a day at sea last May. In Freeport we have booked the Lucayan Beach experience, friends of ours had done it in the past and said it was a very nice resort and Beach. Also, close to the Market Square for shopping which the girls will definately take advantage of. We will be wearing our Lime green ribbons and looking forward to hopefully meet and have a cocktail with some of you.
We will be doing a Sea and land, this year, after our 4 days on the Wonder we will be heading to Downtown Disney area for 3 days of Disney Magic and fun. Looking forward to a fabulous vacation. HAPPY CRUISING!!!

We like the Toronto Maple Leafs, however, in case some are concerned about SARS, we do not leave near TO. We are actually from the Windsor area, close to Detroit, Michigan and yes, the Detroit Red Wings.

Fantasia Sam,
You have a few dining options within walking distance of the Radisson. There is an Italian/Pizza restaurant next door that we have tried in the past.
You are able to see the Magic/Wonder from the second floor of the hotel. Perhaps it isn't exactly the same as being at the Port to bid the Saturday cruisers a bon voyage, but it's a nice alternative.
I have to work until 3, so we hope to arrive by 6, grab a pizza for dinner and hang out by the pool. I think that you will be happy with the Radisson.
There is a reception for Castaway Club members with free drinks and small snacks.
Don't stress about dress. The dining rooms advertise that appropriate wear is "resort casual". Palo is more formal, of course.
Just three more weeks everyone!!!!!!!

Dawn Hope

Welcome aboard (pardon the pun) 4u2dream. Sounds like you are all ready to go.

20 days left!

We have the second seating as well. We wanted first, but it was full by the time we booked. I was stressing about this, as when I've cruised in the passed we had first and I loved it. However my mom convinced me not to change and to just give it a try.

I can't wait to (hopefully) meet you all.

I'll be 16 weeks pregnant when we sail. I'm starting to worry, after a night in the hospital last night, that my morning sickness isn't going to go away and I won't be able to enjoy all the food.

Nothing though is going to stop me from having a great time!

Way to go Univfire :teeth: We chose second seating so that we had more time in the day to enjoy everything.

Dawn, is there a bar at the Radisson that we can enjoy after dinner for a couple of drinks?

Welcome 4u2dream (I love your user name!)

Fantasia Sam,
There is a lounge with bar in the Radisson, but better than that is the poolside bar.

Univfire,
With my first daughter I was ill round the clock for the first 16 weeks, then it eased and dissipated a week later. I am a Prenatal/Postpartum and Labor Massage Therapist, Childbirth Educator and Postpartum Support Instructor. If you have any concerns onboard, I'll be happy to help. You have probably tried everything for the nausea, just in case you haven't - anything with ginger is good (ginger ale/ginger snap cookies)/the aroma and taste of lemons is famous for stopping morning sickness/sea bands will access an acupressure point for nausea and dry sweet cereals are helpful (honey smacks etc...) Good luck and I hope you will be feeling much better within the week - you will be delighted how wonderful second trimester is compared to the first.

We were fortunate enough to book early and got Early seating for dinner, we found that with young children it worked out better for us, though by the Shows our DD4 and DW were getting sleepy.
Univfire- My DW being pregnant on our first cruise was in the same boat as yourself. ( don't mind the pun ) :)
However, she ended up having a great time and was able to keep things down, enjoyed the food tremendously, she found it was easier to eat less, more often helped. She would only ask for 1/2 servings. She also, used Sea Bands and drank Ginger ale and had Ginger snacks from home to help. The warm tropical climate and soothing breezes on the Beaches made her feel much better. She swam a lot and tried keeping active, walking and made sure she got her rest at night, even daytime naps on a lounge.
disneygal58(Dawn)- Thanks for all your helpful information. Univfire will be very fortunate to have you close by.
Fantasia Sam- Maybe we will meet up at the Radisson Sat night. We are planning on going to Grills at the Port for dinner and trying to catch the Magic leaving port for 5:00pm. I will try to find a link to some photos that I came across surfing around on these boards. Our on line name was created by my lovely DW. She is quite a girl.
To Kaslee, tlens, fredms, luvstiggertoo, and Disneyfan37- Enjoy your cruise and if anyone setsup a meet please let us know. We will be happy to join in. Jim:bounce:

Loved the photos, can't wait until we finally get on the Wonder and sail away ourselves. We still haven't had our tickets. I am going to the TA again today to see if they are there.

Sam
Guess who we are travelling with??? MYTRAVEL,

Wish Virgin flew out of Cardiff. Life would be much easier.
Hopefully they will be OK till after the 15th when we leave here. After that I really dont care if they abandon us in Florida.

Univfire
Good luck with the morning sickness. Its really horrible and I can sympathize. I lost 28lb while carrying my DD. and is the reason I only have one DD. A trip to the Bahamas would have done me the world of good

Kay - My Travel !! Oh my, for all our fellow travellers, this is a UK based travel company that is part of a group that just declared at the weekend that they may go bankcrupt. Kay did you get your cruise documents, was that booked through My travel? I'm keeping everything crossed for you that it'll ALL be OK. Please keep us all posted.

{{{hugs}}}

Great idea, Sam! Now we can recognize Paul and yourself. Maybe it will help some people out with meeting. We won't be strangers anymore. Anyways, these are a few of our 3 Day Wonder last May. Hope you enjoy them. Feel free to ask any questions if you have them.

Sam
Still no docs yet. TA says should get them by the end of the week. We booked the cruise separately and they are nothing to do with Mytravel :D
The holiday to Florida was booked as a package through Thomsons and I didn't realise until yesterday that the flight part is Mytravel. I should have realised from the flight code which starts MYT. I am a lot calmer now. It looks as though everything will be fine for the summer with any financial problems due to start at the end of the year. As there is only the 1 flight to Florida a week from here I probably would have risked booking it if I had known about the problems, although I definately wont be booking so far ahead for next year.
I really am looking forward to this holiday sooo much. The last 12 months have been an absolute disaster and sometimes I think the only thing keeping me sane is the thought of being in Florida and the Bahamas.
Any idea what the weather is like? I am hoping for sunny skies and calm water, but even if it rains at least its warm rain, not like our cold wet Welsh drizzle which soaked me this morning!!

Kay

Well, three weeks from today we all will be disembarking in Nassau!!!

Woohoo!!
DD12 & I did some major shopping this weekend....new bathing suits, "resort wear", a big wide brimmed straw hat for mom!
Can't wait!!!!

Univfire...if all goes well, I will be just a few weeks along when we cruise. Not pregnant yet but trying very hard!!!;)

We plan on arriving at the port around 10:30 or so (depending on when we leave the house in the AM). We have a 2-2.5 hour drive and hope to leave by 8:00 AM.

We'll be looking for green ribbons!!!
