May 18, 2003 Wonder

We will be driving over on Sunday morning.
We plan to head out around 8:30-9:00 AM
That should get us to port around 11:30'ish.

I want to get on board as early as possible to check things out!

Hi! Can I join you?? We'll be on the 18th cruise too! DH 33, Me, 33 DD 3.5.

Had a strange call from my TA last week. She said Disney called and said the "AT SEA" day was now a day in Freeport. I thought it always was Freeport.

I thought it was always Freeport too.
In fact, I think this cruise is the last one to have a stop at Freeport. Going forward, all will have the day at sea.

Hi again fellow cruisers - I always thought it was a Freeport cruise and DCL have now extended these cruises - I got the following from Dreams:

FREEPORT STOPS EXTENDED PAST MAY 18/03

As many of you may know already, Disney Cruise Line has extended the Freeport stop on alternate weeks of the 4-night sailings on the Disney Wonder. The sailings past May 18th that will now include the Freeport stop are:

Please note that the Freeport stop will continue for the following sailings:
June 1, 15, 29
July 13, 27
August 10, 24
Sept 7, 21
Oct 5, 19
Nov 2, 16, 30
Dec 14, 28

We're planning to head over to Atlantis and do a spot of gambling after we've done a spot of shopping on our Nassau day. Does anyone know if we can just go into the casino - that's all we want to do really - or should we be part of one of the excursions - I wouldn't mind doing one of the excursions really.

I would think it would be just like any other casino. You don't have to stay there to gamble.
In fact, I think I read somewhere (probably on the boards) that you can go there just to gamble

tlens,
Welcome - the more the merrier, of course. Have you sailed with DCL before our upcoming adventure?
We'll be heading to Port Sunday morning around 7 or so - my daughters want to make a stop at Ron Jon's before we check in.
We've stayed at the Radisson in the past and highly recommend it - especially if you find a good rate. It's lovely to be able to see our ship out the window before you head over in the morning.
Don't forget to watch and set those VCRs tomorrow evening for the DCL special on the Travel Channel.....

What time is the Travel Channel special.
We'll be sure to watch!

My husband and I have sailed twice before on CCL. This is the first for us and DD on DCL and are extremely excited!!! We received free airfare last year coming back from WDW (Voluntary bump) and my inlaws have given us a free week at Orange Lake we are using pre and post cruise so an otherwise unaffordable vacation has become affordable. (although the Canadian dollars has been making lots of ground lately)

Since we don't get the travel channel in Canada I guess I'll miss it (although they sometimes show it on Discovery Channel) What time is it on?

Its so nice to be able to "talk to" so many other folks that are counting down to the 18th.

Regarding the Atlantis - I actually went on vacation there two years ago and it was amazing. I think it may be worth the $25 bracelets you buy that gives you access to the dig and underwater acquarium. Just remember that doesn't include beach or pools. The taxi from the port is $4pp but keep in mind that taxis won't leave until they are full which isn't a problem leaving port but maybe a problem on the return. (see how much I learned from these Boards!?)

Can't wait!

fred....how many people fill a taxi?

What to do if we need to get back to port?
Of course, we will give ourselves ample time to return, but is there another alternative...just in case?

I am not sure but from the passporter I seem to think its more like vans rather then what we think of as taxis which is why it might take abit longer. I intend to leave myself plenty of time and I'm sure things will be fine. Atlantis is beautiful and worth seeing.

Also, I think someone asked about the travel channel on DCL - its tomorrow night 4/15 at 8:00pm EST. It'll be fun to watch to learn even more about the ship.

Well I'm getting some great tips here and fredms you're so right it does feel better having an 18th May thread.

Kaslee - have you received your documents yet?

fredms - thanks for the Atlantis tips, I think we'll do an excursion and then go from there. I do also want to do some of the shops.

disneyfan37 - thanks for the mini-report it helped me make my mind up on the excursion

disneygal58 - I'm so glad you recommend the Radisson we're booked in there the night before and we were also thinking of going down to the Port on the Saturday and saying farewell to the Magic to really get into the spirit of things ;)

luvstiggertoo - thanks for the gambling info - we don't have that many casinos in the UK but I recently went to Vegas and now I'm hooked on video poker ;)

I'm so looking forward to the cruise that it's somewhat overshadowing our 10 night stay at WDW beforehand LOL!!

Fantasia Sam,
After you bid adieu to the Magic on Saturday night, head on down to Ron Jon's Surf Shop (an easy 10 minute ride from the Radisson). A visit to Ron Jon's will hold you over until you are swaying to the Calypso music on deck.
Also, enjoy every moment of the 10 days at the World. We are fortunate to live close enough to visit once a month or so. Still, I miss the 10 consecutive days immersed in all Disney that we used to enjoy before becoming FL residents.

DH and I can't wait either. All we do is talk about it.I just hope it is even better then the one in September that we took on the Disney Wonder.

I'm confused Disneyfan37 - the 18th Cruise is the Wonder 4 day cruise. Did you just do the 3 day in September and that's why you hope it's even better - your post made it sound like you weren't going on the Wonder. Obviously it could just be the way I read it LOL ;)

Hi Sam

No we still havent got the docs yet. DH phoned the TA this morning and they said they shoud come 10 days before we leave. Seems to be leaving it a bit late to me. Its just as well that I know what we need to take from the boards.

Its our 1st cruise although we have been to Florida once before. The excitement is even more this time round. Its all I think about. Hope it lives up to the expectation!!

You will love it if you love Disney as much as dh and I.We don't have any children, but we won't cruise on anything other than Disney! It is such a magical feeling to walk onto the boat. You will see how great it is!

Happy Easter everyone! I just peeked, the big bunny left Disney pjs in the baskets....
