May 17-22--All 3 Hotels Booked...what gives?

Not 100% sure what is going on that week as I don't work there. However, that is very, very close to what I've heard is "D-Day" for WWoHP grand opening/ribbon cutting. Nearly every major actor from the HP movies and JK Rowling have been invited to attend that day/weekend/week and many have already confirmed.

It is possible the rooms have been blocked out that week for an official press conference week leading up to the grand ceremony. That would explain the hold at all three hotels, as they would be waiting for RSVPs from all the celebs as well as press invited. Once they get the RSVP's or estimated head count, they'll reopen some of the held rooms for guests.

Then again, it could just be that someone in the reservations dept. messed up and hit the wrong button.:)

:wizard:

I would assume that it is the opening of WWOHP cause the Loews website is saying no rooms for those dates.
Just hope the opening is not pushed back a little cause those people will freak out on them :scared1:

I was able to get the Royal Pacific on 5/15 thru 5/18 last night. I wanted the Hard Rock but had to settle :)
Ugh - It is going to be mobbed. Oh well, I am still going to have a great time!

Yeah, we were able to get 5/13-5/18 but they didn't have any rooms for 5/17-5/22?? Doesn't make sense does it?

And someone said something about HP opening up in April. Hmm....now I'm really confused. hahaha! :lmao:

We will be there May 15 - 22, staying in a condo. I was hoping the parks would be empty because everyone would be waiting on WWOHP to open. Most schools in my area don't get out until after Memorial Day. But then again we are doing one day at Disney and those parks could be empty!

That date range has been booked up for a couple of months. Booked PBH for May 12-17 via online. Emailed customer service and received a reply saying that rooms are available but you have to call. I was able to add two more nights by calling. She would not give any details on what was going on.

Well Universal/Loew's booking system probably doesn't break up a reservation, so it's probably just the last half of the week thru the weekend that is actually blocked out, but if you entered in the whole week, then the whole week would say it's blocked out. They are assuming you wouldn't want the room for half your trip and then have to leave and go elsewhere.

And when I said I heard "D-Day" is at the end of May, that's just for the grand opening ceremonies with the celebs. I'm sure the park will be open in April as a "soft" opening.

We're going the week after for Memorial Day weekend and I am sure hoping all the craziness for the opening is pretty much over by then. May 17 - 22 would be perfect for us. I can deal with normal park insanity - celeb insanity a little too much for us. :yay:

Where is it confirmed that celebrities are coming at that time? What website or what have you? Just curious. I know they are coming, but I don't believe the time is finalized... and even if they have a press event, it may not open to the public immediately after.

There's been no official confirmation. I was told a date by an inside source. Also, several of the actors have let slip that they are going to the opening in May. I'm speculating that since the blackout dates are for the weekend of the 22nd, and that that weekend is very close to what I was told and have heard, that it is very likely that that is the weekend of the grand opening. ;)

So if the Grand Opening isn't till the end of May, does that mean that the rides will not be operational until after that date? In other words, no "soft" opening you think?

I just went on the Lowes site & was able to book RPR for May 20-24(I already have booked May 26-31 offsite so I didn't finalize it), I didn't check any ot the other resorts but I'll bet they are available too. I've heard that the grand opening is Memorial Day weekend so who knows what is true? We will just have to wait & see what happens.

Sorry for the two posts, but I went back to the Universal site again & tried to book HRH for May 19-24 and rooms were still available there also, I don't know if the OP tried to book when they were having a computer snafu or what but if you check now, you can book it.

These dates have been booked since about November time, I know because they're my dates! LOL However, I FINALLY managed to get booked for the 17th-24th May at RPR on the 5th January.

I also called up to adjust my rate a few days later as I noticed the dates around mine were down to $142 a night, however, I couldn't actually check my own date as it said "No Rate Available". Phoned up anyway and asked about lowering my rate as I'd seen it online cheaper, was originally told no as they were fully booked, then the guy decided to go ask his supervisor who ok-ed it for us and he went ahead and reduced our rate :goodvibes

So if you're looking for these dates just keep checking like I did, as the one day it did become available I jumped on it, and again ever since it's been unavailable.

:confused3That is weird, it may be because I'm using an e-mail that Universal sent me to get on the website, but when I go there it sends me to the Lowes website & there is still availability for those dates at a higher rate, I'll try again to get the Stay more rates & let you know what happens.

That is weird cause I went to universalorlando.com and it said the same thing no rooms for any of the three onsite hotels

I checked again but for May 19-24 at RPH and there was no availability, but there were still rooms at HRH at $186 per night.
