~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
Hi Barbara!
Things are yucky today. My kids are excited and keep counting the weeks until we go. We live really close to Kirby/Idlewood Road so we are really on the border of McLean and Falls Church. Luckily, everyone in my family (Amanda, Mom, etc) only live about 10 minutes away.
How old are your nieces? Maybe the kids can get together to play.
That is so funny--we use to live near the corner of Kirby and Great Falls Street until about 5 years ago. We moved north a few miles, closer to the GW Parkway. You are probably about 3 miles from my house.
One of my nieces turns 6 on the cruise--close in age to one of yours. She likes to play with other kids, and is looking forward to the Oceaneer's Club. So that may just work out.
My other niece is 15, and a bookworm (not a bad thing to be--I was the same way).
Nice "talking" to you, neighbor!
Barbara
Hi Everyone!
I'm Amanda's Sister-in-law and Carole Ann's Daughter-in-law. I'm excited to be going on the cruise and can't wait.
Alison
:welcome: Welcome Alison!
I just checked it out and read two threads that are not cool
2) Disney has put in effect a new policy about booking excursions. Apparently someone on the Board just called Chankanaab to book directly with them for the dolphin discovery (saving $200 over Disney) & everything was all good until they mentioned the Disney Cruise & then they were not allowed to book. They said that Disney has a new policy that none of their guests can book directly with the location & MUST book via Disney (and Pay $200 more)!!!
One DISer is super upset because Disney wont allow younger kids under 5 to participate & the park does so they were going to book with the park, but no go.
That stinks! Sounds like the recent changes are for the worst not the best. :sad2:
fyi- I have 37 lime green hawaiian leis and lots of princess crowns and sashes....I will order more if everyone is interested - I need a boy idea though. Will hand them out at the port.
FUN FUN FUN. V -- you are full of good ideas and oh so helpful. I can't wait to sit back and have a drink with you in person!
The show was fantastic!!! He tried out some new jokes that he's considering doing on Letterman on Monday night. At the end of the show they brought out a big cake with Walter, Peanut and Achmed (like the Ace of Cakes would do) it was Jeff's birthday yesterday. Just found out last night that he graduated the same year as me so unless he skipped a grade or was held back we're the same age!
Jane -- am so glad you had such a wonderful birthday!!!! I have no idea who you guys are talking about but will google him later tonight!
Obviously, I'd be happy to help if you run into any problems on the ship though I recommend trip insurance just for safety! (Though the odds of problems are minimal!) Feel free to PM me or call me if you have other questions (my number is on FB)!
Cinda -- you are simply amazing to offer to help Val. :hug: Can you guys feel the love in this group?
I'm OFF TODAY!!!! I have a full list of to do's but I'm taking a few minutes to drink some tea and catch up on the boards.
Awesome! I hope you have had a great day so far!
....AND MOST IMPORTANTLY - THE TWILIGHT SEQUELS HAVE ARRIVED!!!!!!! Excuse me while I go and bury me head in them now!!
Woo Hoo! Sonya -- ENJOY!!!!
Swimsuits, I think.
I need a bathing suit with a little upper support. I bought a speedo from costco. Really cute, but dips down a bit to low in the front.
For all you ladies who wanted big ****s... it's not always a blessing. :rotfl:
Amanda --I bought a speedo from Costco too but I kind of liked the way it dipped down in the front :rolleyes1. I figured it takes more attention off of my tummy. :lmao:
I've been working on my iPod as well. For xmas I received an iPod Touch as a corporate gift and have finally worked my way to messing around with it. I've downloaded a bunch of game applications to play. I was wondering about the movies too. I haven't put a dvd in my computer yet -- I'll have to try it out.
Nice gift Kim! I want one but can't justify the $$ right now.....
I ordered a baggallini bag for the trip and got that today as well. It's really cool. I never heard of baggallini until I read about them in all the themepark threads. It's an awesome bag. It's a little bit bigger than I expected but it should work out great for WDW and the times I might need it on the cruise ship. It's the uptown bag in the giraffe print. Loves me some animal print ;).
Hmmm, never heard of baggallini. Do I hear another online shopping attempt calling me???? I'll go check it out!
Thanks. Just started reading this thread. We booked on Saturday at a whim for a Cat 12 room. Myself, DH and DD(7). Just checked and no room assignment yet. Will not participate in the FE given no time to even consider anything and just figured out what that even is last week.
:cheer2::cheer2:WELCOME!!!:cheer2::cheer2:
I have a daughter (Sabrina) who is 7 too! She will be excited to know about another new friend on the ship!
This is my FIL/MIL and nephew Alex on our last trip,
Carrie -- great pics of your FIL/MIL! Thanks for sharing!
:cheer2::cheer2:Welcome Alison!!!:cheer2::cheer2:
We are so glad to have you join us on this trip (and on the board!)
I just checked it out and read two threads that are not cool
1) Disney has changed the menus on the Wonder & everyone HATES the foods. The reviews are awful. They plan to change them on the Magic as well, but thank God not til June! I'm sure if everyone is complaining they can't make the changes...
2) Disney has put in effect a new policy about booking excursions. Apparently someone on the Board just called Chankanaab to book directly with them for the dolphin discovery (saving $200 over Disney) & everything was all good until they mentioned the Disney Cruise & then they were not allowed to book. One DISer is super upset because Disney wont allow younger kids under 5 to participate & the park does so they were going to book with the park, but no go.
Yup -- I read that Amanda. The menus seem to be subjective. There are some folks who say the new menus are just fine but there are a lot of negative comments. I am glad I get to try the old ones before they make the change! Especially the peanut butter pie!!!!!! As for the excursions -- that just makes me mad. It is part of the reason why I decided to stick with Nachi Cocum. Silly that DCL does that. I also hate that I can't go with DCL on practically any excursions with Kai since he is only 4 BUT if I book directly with the excursion operators, he is allowed. Oh well -- guess that just means I will have to cruise again and again and again until he is old enough to do everything we want! :goodvibes
Ok -- back to work -- too many deadlines. Don't they realize I have a cruise to plan for? :rotfl2:
Talk to you all later tonight!
We're so excited that the cruise is almost here!! Despite our excitement, I had to let you all know some annoying news...my husband is being unnaturally weird about my posting our picture on the site. I wanted to post one so everyone could see us and we could be recognized...but he was so bothered by it that I'm not going to for now. He is also telling me that he doesn't want the kids' names on the fish extender because then everyone knows their names and the room they're in. Sigh. I'm hoping he's just worrying and will realize that he's being ridiculous, but I'm sure most of you know how it is to argue with a husband sometimes. In any event, I'm here and we will be there, and will be participating in the FE...and we can't wait! :) Thanks for understanding. (I will wear him down. I will.) Ha ha.
I am not new to the thread, but I would like to introduce myself. I see alot of you have pictures up so I didnt want anyone to think there is a crazy lady saying hi to everyone just because...lol. My name is Desiree and my husbands name is Brian we have 2 children that are cruising with us our DS is 12 And our DD is 10. We are cruising with friends of ours, and my outlaws I mean inlaws..lol. This is our second Disney cruise our first one was in November a 4 day to the bahamas and we loved it we came home and 2 weeks later we booked this one..YYEEAAHHH! We are on the 5th deck. So if your up there look for the door with magnets that say Happy Anniversay and our names will also be on the doors since we will have a few people with us it will be easier for the kids to know what room is theres...lol We cant wait! Good luck to all of you who are trying to lose weight.:yay: I gained a little over the holidays so I feel your pain. For all of you who are reading twilight it is addicting and those of you who are on the fence about reading it just do it..lol:thumbsup2. I am not a big vampire fan but I did like these books.:). Well theres me in a nut shell:yay:
Like everyone else, I'm trying to loose some weight before the cruise. The only problem is my progress has been derailed due to me finding out I'm pregnant so that limits what I can do. I'm hoping I do what I did with my first two and loose weight until the 3rd trimester. That would be awesome :)
Hudson5&Lennon3
OH, ROBIN, I AM SO SORRY!!! OMG, I can't believe I even thought that! Maybe it's the occasional baby talk that floats around here from time to time. I didn't know what Figment is--otherwise I wouldn't have said that. I just did a quick search & saw it is a character at EPCOT, which I've never been to, so again I sincerely apologize!
Think nothing of it. It didn't bother me. Had you been standing in front of me and asked that, then perhaps it would have. :P
texfinn
Hi Robin! My husband Yoni is turning 35 on the 21st too!!!! We married in 2000 so a bit longer than you two. Fortunately I am a December baby so not near as hectic as it seems you are.
That's cool that he's turning 35 the same exact day as me. I won't be suffering alone then. hehe My husband and I were together since January 98, so it's like we've been married a lot longer.
Shasess
DH and I are also celebrating our anniversary and my birthday the week of the cruise.
Wow, that's really wild that you're celebrating your anniversary & birthday the same week, like I am. I remember being asked at the time if I cared about getting married the same week. I didn't. (Originally we were supposed to get married in Grand Cayman on the cruise we had booked, so the day would have been different, but we had gotten word about a month before there was a problem, so I had to change it) Having the two occasions the same week in May does seem to make sense for vacations, although I hadn't thought of that at the time.
I've been mega busy, so hopefully I'm caught up on this now. Yesterday I tried on dresses I have, and ordered a pirate costume, which will hopefully fit well enough (one size range sounds too small and the next up sounds huge) and now I'm on to trying to nail down some excursion plans. Then hopefully I can have a few more weeks of relative normalcy and just work on getting a few things I'm going to need for the trip (and would have for the original WDW vacay plan anyway) and my packing lists.
Hey everyone, I'm Amanda's (Tink113's) husband. Her and I are really excited and greatly looking forward to this cruise vacation! After waiting, and waiting, and waiting, it's finally right around the corner. Amanda's told me a lot about what you guys have been posting on here. She's also got her mom and sister-in-law hooked to this site too. It'll be nice to finally meet all of you!!
We've got the wristbands in our living room and they look really good. I think we should pass out some of the extras to the crew. Maybe we can even get Brent (the cruise director, if he's still on the Magic) to put one on by the end of cruise.
So I hear there's gonna be some poker playing on the ship? Don't forget to bring your $$$!!
....me finding out I'm pregnant so that limits what I can do. I'm hoping I do what I did with my first two and loose weight until the 3rd trimester. That would be awesome :)
Congratulations!!!!!! I threw a baby shower on Saturday for one of my coworkers!!!! I love looking at itty bitty baby clothes! Such fun!
I was asked the same thing by a lot of my friends and I didn't mind having them both so closely together. You're right about the fact that it makes celebrating during our vacations a lot easier. I also love the month of May because of the weather so it just works out. I did tell DH that I do expect a gift on our anniversary and on my birthday. I'm not letting him get away with 2(holidays) for one(gift). :rotfl:
:banana::woohoo:Welcome to our new comers!!:woohoo::banana:
Cruise Docs came in today!!! YAY :cheer2:
And our FE is done!!! Picures will be up soooooon!:rotfl:
aimathy,
I'm totally with you on the not posting a pic of your husband thing. That's why I'll probably post one of me only, when I have enough posts to do so. He's very touchy about photos, and he can actually be quite unpleasant about it, so I"m not going to even bother. I'm the more social one, anyway. lol
lol Yes, I was promised that wouldn't be a problem, however, whether it's just being together so long, or possibly the fact that we really do have to pick and choose, mostly my birthday present these days becomes the vacation itself. It's not like I won't end up buying souvenirs and things anyway. It just isn't a present in the traditional, surprise sense I guess.
Congratulations!!!!:cheer2:Your lucky most people gain weight when they are pregnant. Enjoy your pregnancy, it was such a great time for me beside the all day sickness. I gained 65 pounds when I was pregnant I ate everything in sight...lol
My DH is the same way regarding names on the doors. He's fine with me posting a picture of us all, but I can't put our names on the FE or on our door magnets. I told him I respect that and will just use our last name on the magnets.
We are on the 5th deck. So if your up there look for the door with magnets that say Happy Anniversay and our names will also be on the doors since we will have a few people with us it will be easier for the kids to know what room is theres...lol
Go deck 5! We're there too!
Congrats on the 3rd one. I have my hands full with just one.
Keep holding him to that. My anniversary is on Dec. 23rd and when my DH was entering the country to marry me (he's from England) the immigration officer told him because our anniversary is so close to xmas in order to keep his new wife happy he needed to always get 2 presents. I'm proud to say that he's never forgotten.
Now just trying to calm DH down as to he is not to excited about Formal night or Semi-Formal night for that matter. (SAHD, who doesn't own a suit or tie).
Welcome!! If you haven't read the entire thread (that could take some time) it seems like most of they guys are not looking forward to dressing up. I was able to find Jim a sport coat and button down shirt on clearance for formal night and he's just going to wear a nice shirt and slacks on semi-formal night. If he really doesn't want to dress up, you can always order room service or go up to the buffet restaurant.
Don't worry about it, there are so many people in our group we will just have to memorize faces when we get there. For your FE pockets, I'd just put a character for each kid in age order. We'll be able to figure it out.
I am not new to the thread, but I would like to introduce myself. I see alot of you have pictures up so I didnt want anyone to think there is a crazy lady saying hi to everyone just because...lol. Glad to know a little more about you and your family.
I can only imagine how they all look piled up. Bet it looks weird in the middle of the night a big glowing pile of lime green.:laughing:
Ran some more errands today and finally bought a pop-up laundry basket to collect dirty clothes and take to do laundry (yup going to do laundry at least once on the cruise). Just ate my leftovers from dinner last night YUM! And have downloaded about 12 CD's of Disney music on to the iPod. Still need to check out downloading movies.
J
Ah, the pop up laundry hamper is a nice idea. I may try that. I normally just use tall kitchen bags I stuff in pockets of he suit case and it's hard to keep it neat.
Wow, so many new faces. Nice to meet you.:goodvibes
I am guessing my DH will be in khakis and a dress shirt with tie on semi-formal night, and in linen pants and shirt with tie on the formal night. I know many people really enjoy getting fully dressed to the nines, and I love seeing all the beautiful gowns and handsome men, but I don't think it is going to happen here. So, your husband won't be alone in the main dining rooms if he does not put on a full dark suit or tux. I hope none of you are horrified.
I don't know how many more times I can look at the deck plans, review the menus, and read about the excursions. This cruise needs to get here!
I understand what you mean. I'll probably have The Passporter memorized by the time our cruise gets here. I've read it cover to cover several times......
By the way, Val have you received the 2009 edition yet and did you find your quote in it? I can't wait to see it!
