~~~ May 16, 2009 ~~~ Western Magic ~~~
Hi, I am so impressed with this thread started by Hudson and Lennon's mom waaaaay back in 2007!
My sister and I and 2 of her 3 daughters are going on this cruise, too. We are extremely excited.:cool1:
Our husbands, my sister's oldest daughter and my two teenage sons are too cool and/or two busy, so this is a girls-only trip.
About us--I live 5 minutes west of D.C. and my sister lives in our hometown in Connecticut. We are the best of friends, and we go to WDW 4 to 6 times a year to see eachother and we bring whoever wants to go with us. My sister was nice enough to have a "surprise" baby at age 42 (very thoughtful of her to provide me with such a cute little girl to dote on), so now we have a really good excuse to keep up this WDW addiction! This little one is now 5, and will turn 6 on May 22--perfect excuse for our first ever Disney cruise!
This is our cast:
Me (Barbara), 51 (I am still "40-Something," 40-Eleven to be exact)
My sister (Mary Ellen), 48
My niece (Alexandra), 15--the Stephanie Myers fan
Birthday girl niece (Calista), 5
We have early seating
We are in 8022 (Cat 3)
We are really excited about the shows and the Pirate Party. We have not scheduled any excursions yet, but might go see the dolphins in Cozumel. Key West is so great just to walk around and soak up the relaxed feeling.
I look forward to keep up with this thread for the next 27 days!
Welcome to the cruise!
Val (Hudson and Lennon's mom) is an on the ball kinda gal!
5 miles west of DC???? where??? I grew up in Arlington VA, but live in Falls Church now. My parents (who will be on the cruise with us) still live in Arlington & my brother & his fam (as on this cruise) live in McLean!
I was just wondering how many of us Dis Key Lime Pirates are dressing up on Pirate night? What about husbands. I'm still trying to convence my hubby too.
We probably won't dress up, just because of the fact that we don't own "pirate" attire and don't really have any extra room in our suitcases. Maybe next time...
Welcome to our group! Girls' weekends (or weeks as this case may be) are the best!!!:cheer2:
Welcome 40-something-kid!!
We wear pirate outfits on pirate night - it was a lot of fun!!
Well I had fought hard to lose 2 lbs FINALLY and then promptly gained back 1....hopefully it is bloating but how annoying.
We are on day 3 of the 30 day Shred with Jillian MIchaels, we are stiff and sore and hopefully that will help to get rid of at least 5 lbs before this cruise...we leave in 25 days. :yay:
Where are you driveing from? We leave May 14, We are about the same distance. We are in Dingmans Ferry, PA. Good luck with the shredding we to are trying to lose a few. Crystal,
Indigo Disney--I YouTubed Jillian's 30-Day Shred (had not heard about it), and I must say, that should easily shred your 5 lbs--the routine looks brutal, and reminds me of the way she beats up contestants on TV!!! My sister and I are gym rats--I am trying to shed a few pre-cruise pounds, too. I don't want to bring the dreaded stretchy pants for the end of the cruise!!!:cool:
And---I agree about pirate dress up, arghh!!!
Tink113--I am about 10 min from Tysons, about a mile from the entrance to the GW Parkway. Indeed, It's a Small World!!!
WELCOME to our new cruise mates!! WOO HOO for girls trips, wish I could go on a girls only Disney cruise.
Cinda, Hope your toe heals!! I"m sending all my pixie dust & thoughts to you so it's all better in the next 4 weeks. I should come visit and we should heal together! :P
Now Lynsey needs to make sure she stays healthy and well..or else we'll have the 'Injured Table'.:rotfl:
UGH! I can't discuss weight loss. I gained 6 lbs in the past week from all my meds. Dr says it should come off fast....I'm sure hoping so!!!!
As for Pirate night, We are dressing up.
Hubby is wearing a pirate/skull & crossbones t-shirt with a black bandana
ME- I'm wearing a white L/S shirt with little skulls all over with a black vest, black capris, and a Skull scarf tied up in my hair. Still looking for jewelry! Wish I could bring my pirate shoes, but that's just too much stuff.
Thanks for the good luck - I am on day 3 so I can hardly move right now. Going to go and do it in the next half hour. Why is 5 lbs so hard to lose? What a pain. I have more I need to lose, but I am settling for 5 at this point. :rotfl: We are flying from Detroit this trip - will spend a few days at Disney and then head out to the cruise.
30 day shred is pretty cool - I thought it was worth a shot. I like that you go up a level after 30 days and then another level after the next 30. Plus you are forced to do it every day, which is something that I need since I am an exercise quitter. The stretchy pants and empire waist tops, that is what I will have to resort to....I am hoping 5 lbs will help at least.
Your pirate outfits sound cool....I have an outfit as well - we are going all out.
I hope the 6 lbs comes off fast too, meds can do that to you...glad to hear that you are feeling better, what a scare you had.
Hey neighbor!
We live right over the boarder from you; in Vernon, NJ! My nieces live in Dingmans!!!! If you've ever been to the Milford library you've probably me them! And we are leaving on the 14th as well! Maybe we'll see you on the road; what route do you take?
Hi all! Man, have I been missing all of you! But I can finally play catch up now!! :banana: I've been too busy to even check all the posts for several days. Now I have 10 pages to catch up on! So I'm sure I'll be responding to several old posts. I apologize in advance! :rolleyes1
Welcome!!! :cool1: I really think you will enjoy our group! A girls trip does sound wonderful, maybe some of us girls from this cruise might think about doing a girl only reunion trip some time! Too much fun. :cutie:
I gotsta get with it & OMG is my skin so pale that I am reflecting light. :rotfl: LOL, I remember our Dec 07 cruise. Disney takes a photo of you when you are happily boarding and several during the week. At the end of the trip we were checking the photos & we both looked sick we were so pale in the 1st photo! Each photo after that showed our tanning progress for the cruise! lol
That's soo funny about the your tan progression pictures! I got a little sun today so that's a good thing so hopefully I won't be that pasty.
We are on day 3 of the 30 day Shred with Jillian MIchaels, we are stiff and sore and hopefully that will help to get rid of at least 5 lbs before this cruise...we leave in 25 days. :yay:
Hmmm, that sounds interesting! I might look into that but I'm not a big video workout person. I feel like if I go to the gym I actually have to work out and I stay motivated by having other people working out around me.
Now Lynsey needs to make sure she stays healthy and well..or else we'll have the 'Injured Table'.:rotfl:
Jason and I were just joking about this tonight, so far so good though! :thumbsup2 I always have bruises on my legs, I seem to be very accident prone and run into the kitchen table, the bed, my desk at work, lol.... but if bruises are all I have that's a good thing.
I am not into video workouts either...it's weird, but I put it in our bedroom and we do it right before bed. <wait that sounded off-side> We shred before bed. <also didnt sound good> :rotfl: Anyway, I still haven't worked out tonight, have been working on DD's birthday party invitations and also my FE gifts.
I am also accident prone - have several large bruises on my legs right now. Maybe we have issues with depth perception? LOL :lmao:
Have a great night!!
WOW! I go to a neighbors for dinner and lo and behold, everyone gets busy on the board! Ok, so going to respond but mind you, have had 2 mexican martinis (they were teensy tiny I promise) and 2 glasses of bubbly (ok, so maybe not so tiny) so please forgive my typos. If I don't make sense, well, I can't say I will in the morning either after my snafu this am!!!!! :rotfl:
WELCOME Barbara! :banana::banana::banana: You can tell Alexandra two things -- one, is that she will NOT be alone as a Stephanie Myers fan. We just finished a discussion on that. I just fiinished reading the books for the 2nd time! TWO -- my daughter's (Sabrina, 7) middle name is Alexandria. She will be so thrilled to meet a girl named Alexandra!!! We are excited to have you join us and can I be the first to ask -- can we see your Cat 3? We may try to upgrade at the port to Cat 3 but am guessing it won't work out (we are Cat 6 now). Would love to see for next time!!!!
Mati - Thanks for the Sweet Sweet talk ;) (even if it wasn't really me:rotfl:)
I'm excited that we are going to be on deck 6 with you guys too :hug:
Although, I'm praying for no rough seas because since we are on deck 6 in the very front, we would feel everything! I joked with mom that she may get all 8 of us trying to sleep on her floor on deck 2 midship!:lmao: Can you imagine!
All I can say, is you may not have had your coffee yet since you got Crystal & I mixed up, BUT.... I want some of whatever you were drinking!!! I'm never that happy to be awake in the morning! You sounded just about giddy! :lovestruc
Awwww......ok sweet Amanda, my secret is OUT! Please don't tell anyone but.......I am a morning person :rotfl:. You guys can come sleep on our balcony if the movement gets to be too much. We are mid-ship I think....
I gotsta get with it & OMG is my skin so pale that I am reflecting light. :rotfl:
:laughing: Should we call you Bella?
Ok, no seriously, I feel your pain. I am Mexican-American and am whiter than white....almost as white as Yoni and he is from Finland!!!! If the sun would get out I will be out by the pool and hopefully get some color before we go on the cruise but we shall see!!!!
Well I had fought hard to lose 2 lbs FINALLY and then promptly gained back 1....hopefully it is bloating but how annoying.
AAAAAAAAAA, I feel your pain Indigo. It drives me nuts to lose and then gain, sometimes just for being a woman! I must say I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jillian Michaels. She is brutal. I am sure you will be BEAUTIFUL at the cruise so don't stress!!!!
My sister and I are gym rats--I am trying to shed a few pre-cruise pounds, too. I don't want to bring the dreaded stretchy pants for the end of the cruise!!!:cool:
And---I agree about pirate dress up, arghh!!!
Barbara -- I am a bit of a gym rat too and you can sign me up for losing at least 5 lbs before the cruise, although, may have to bring the strechy pants just in case!!!! :)
UGH! I can't discuss weight loss. I gained 6 lbs in the past week from all my meds. Dr says it should come off fast....I'm sure hoping so!!!!
JorDan -- so so so happy to see you posting again! :thumbsup2 Now sweet young thing, if I understand your pictures from FB, 6 lbs on you may feel dreadful but I am sure, won't make any bit of difference on your slim athletic body. I am sure it will come right off so don't sweat it.
Somehow I am not surprised you have the whole pirate thing figured out. Now to just have you heal fast and make costumes for the rest of us!!!!:woohoo:
Hi all! Man, have I been missing all of you! But I can finally play catch up now!! :banana: I've been too busy to even check all the posts for several days. Now I have 10 pages to catch up on! So I'm sure I'll be responding to several old posts. I apologize in advance! :rolleyes1
VAL!!!! I am so glad to see you back. Where have you been girl? We have been missing you!!!!!
Welcome!!! :cool1: I really think you will enjoy our group! A girls trip does sound wonderful, maybe some of us girls from this cruise might think about doing a girl only reunion trip some time! Too much fun. :cutie:
I like the way you think Lynsey! A girls only reunion trip, I am all over that!
Hmmm, that sounds interesting! I might look into that but I'm not a big video workout person. I feel like if I go to the gym I actually have to work out and I stay motivated by having other people working out around me.
I understand what you are saying. I used to be a faithful Billy Blanks Tae Bo person -- did it every day but these days, I need to go to the gym to get the workout to happen. In fact, I am even worse. I have to be part of a TEAM class at the gym to get me accountable to a group to get there. *sigh* It seems to get harder and harder every year but at least I am going!!!!
Ok -- OUCH, starting to get a headache. That is pretty sad. It is only 10pm here! I need to get better than that before the cruise. Like I said, I am a morning person and Yoni really wants me to hang out later on the cruise. Let's see if I can "train" myself to stay up later!
Will this magnet work for everyone?
FKLP.jpg
i uploaded a full res 4x6 here: http://3pixelchicks.com/FKLP_magnet.jpg
I can change it if you'd rather have a different design.
I just went through the original few pages of this thread to find this magnet....which I love - great job Sara!! I am going to have this on my door along with the Key Lime-Pie-rates one sent out by Loucinda (thanks!!)...
Not sure what else is inspiring me in magnet land....haven't done that before. My mom is going to think I am nuts!!:lmao:
